and to Chanters for letting us use the shop as a workshop and display centre.”

“Thanks to all the volunteers who have been tirelessly digging for gold for the last five months. Watch this space, as we have so many plans for the coming year,” continued Sue. Judging took place on July 13th.

The front garden competition was judged by Lady Arran from the Castle Hill Estate at Filleigh. Vikki Macnab (right top) from Ash Drive claimed first prize for her “creative and clever use of limited space.” Second went to Marilyn Cole from Alexandra Terrace and third to Gill from Tower Park.

The frontage competition saw Vonn Bourne from Court Cottages (right bottom with her daughter) take top honours, with Lisa from West End Terrace second and Terri from East Street in third. South Molton Mayor Mervyn Way presented Hazel Kerslake from Naturemade in South Street (below centre) with the top prize in the closely-faught shop window competition, judged by the mayor and his wife.

“It was great to see so many people joining in the competition and we hope it will be even bigger next year, with the theme being The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee,” added Sue Harrison.
