Something a little different for our August photo of the month, as we take a trip out on a fishing boat off the North Devon coast.

Photographer Yasmin Jackson, from Dartford in Kent, was on holiday with her family and says she was lucky to join Lynmouth fisherman Matthew Oxenham on a trip out to pick up lobsters during their week stay.

Yasmin’s photo captures perfectly a traditional Exmoor scene, where the coast meets the countryside and centuries of traditional practices remain to this day.

“It was the most spectacular outing. There was just so much to see and as a keen bird watcher it was just brilliant,” Yasmin told Molton Monthly. “It was our first time in North Devon and it did not disappoint, we will definitely be back!”

Matthew Oxenham’s family has worked the boats out of Lynmouth for generations and he now offers tours of our spectacular coastline and its wonderful wildlife (phone 01598 753207).
