Letter from the President
Dear Molloy University Community,
As we reflect on another remarkable year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the unwavering dedication and spirit of our Molloy family. Our commitment to community engagement has not only strengthened our bonds but also enriched the lives of those we serve.
This annual report highlights the incredible efforts and achievements of our students, faculty, and staff in fostering a culture of service and collaboration. From innovative partnerships to impactful volunteer initiatives, we have demonstrated that together, we can make a profound difference.
Thank you for your continued support and passion for our mission. Let us celebrate our successes and look forward to the opportunities ahead, as we strive to build a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
Regards,
James P. Lentini, D.M.A.
Community Engagement Important?
At Molloy University, our steadfast commitment to community engagement is deeply intertwined with our mission, vision, and core values. Our mission to provide transformative education is enriched by fostering strong community partnerships that enhance learning and service opportunities. This dedication aligns with our vision of creating a vibrant environment where students, faculty, and staff collaborate to address societal challenges. Our core values of integrity, respect, and social responsibility guide our efforts, ensuring that our community engagement initiatives not only support academic excellence but also contribute to the greater good. Through these efforts, we strive to make a meaningful impact both within and beyond our campus.
bond. Molloy officials met with members of the RVC Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the Mayor’s Office to create a blueprint for the project.
The mission of the program is to promote local merchants, organizations, schools, and Molloy. Overall, the Communiversity initiative strengthens the economic fabric of RVC by fostering a symbiotic relationship between the University and the local community, leading to increased economic activity and a vibrant local economy.
Throughout the village, decals are posted in the windows of dozens of shops and restaurants. QR codes on the decals connect residents to Molloy athletic teams’ intercollegiate schedules as well as upcoming arts programming at the Madison Theatre. This is designed to encourage RVC locals to attend an on-campus event.
Participating businesses are listed with their logos free of charge on Molloy’s parent portal. This is particularly useful for those families and friends who are not from the local area.
Molloy enrolls more than 5,000 students, has three residence halls and a 550-seat performing arts center all of which can generate demand for products and services offered in RVC. Additionally, a recommended merchant directory was created in collaboration with the RVC Chamber of Commerce to provide local businesses with greater exposure.
When 300-plus resident students moved back into the residence halls in early fall, they received welcome bags. Businesses participating in Communiversity were encouraged to donate branded items or coupons for the bags which were given out to resident students and their parents. Front Street Bakery committed to including their famous “dot” cookies and others like George Martin’s Burger Bar provided gift cards and coupons among other items for each bag.
Communiversity supports cultural and educational events that draw visitors to the area, further stimulating the local economy through increased spending on accommodations, dining, and entertainment. One example is the University’s
participation in the Village’s ‘Playing on the Porch’. This event featured performances by Molloy students, President Lentini, and Board member, Wayne Lipton, alongside the local band, Musically Inclined. Also, Molloy’s Kellenberg Hall was a key destination during the RVC Art Walk, highlighting the work of senior BFA students. This event not only highlighted student talent but also attracted visitors to the campus, enhancing community ties.
“The Communiversity initiative strengthens the economic fabric of RVC by fostering a symbiotic relationship between the University and the local community.”

This advanced course not only focuses on client sustainability and profitability; it guides students to develop the proper disposition to become tomorrow’s prominent leaders. Many capstone partners are repeat clients deepening Molloy’s community engagement relationships while experiencing reciprocity among community members and Molloy faculty and students. The Capstone course exemplifies Molloy’s commitment to aligning students’ learning with Molloy’s mission and 4 Pillars of Dominican life: service, community, study and spirit. Every student within the School of Business must successfully complete the three-credit Capstone class at both the undergraduate and graduate level to earn a Molloy diploma.
Non-profit partners have included: Backyard Players; the Rollstone Foundation; Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Long Island; Island Harvest; and The Cradle of Aviation Museum.

2. Affinity groups
This was the first full year of Molloy’s employee affinity groups. An affinity group is a group of employees linked by a common purpose or interest. These groups play a vital role in ensuring an inclusive environment where all are valued, included, and empowered to succeed. Affinity groups include: the Black Equity Alliance Affinity group, the Latino/a/e/x Affinity group, the Women’s Affinity Group, and the Working Mother’s Affinity Group.
3. Student Events
Student organizations at Molloy play a significant role in creating spaces where students and community members can connect
with others who share their interests, as well as providing platforms for people to learn about cultures that are different from their own. Over 70 events were hosted by Molloy student organizations during the 2023-24 academic year. Notable events included: the South Asian Student Association’s Mock Mendhi, Mock Shaadi, and formal; the African American Caribbean Organization’s for the Culture Party; the Molloy Lion Steppers 4th Annual Talent Showcase; the Molloy Muslim Student Association’s Eid Celebration; and the Molloy Student Government’s Cultural Festival.
4. Educational Programs
Molloy University offers various programs and workshops aimed at promoting global awareness, inclusive sensibilities, and respect for diverse experiences. These programs are designed to foster respectful dialogue on important issues.
Clinics and Centers
1. Mental Health and Wellness Center
Molloy University’s Mental Health and Wellness Center (MHWC) is affiliated with the University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program (CMHC). The MHWC provides affordable, low-cost, high-quality psychotherapy services for individuals in our community. Graduate students from the CMHC Program provide counseling services under the supervision of licensed clinicians and mental health professionals.
The MHWC offers the following mental health services:
• Individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults
• Group therapy for all ages
• Couples therapy
• Family therapy
• Workshops and staff development training
2. The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy
The mission at The Rebecca Center is to use interactive music therapy interventions to facilitate relatedness, communication, and thinking while removing physical and
musical experiences can help people with developmental challenges in many ways; fulfill the need to interact, socialize, communicate, achieve, learn and improve physicality. Musical-play can provide the unique experience of integrating multiple sensory stimuli simultaneously, facilitating selfregulation and sensory modulation. Musicalplay can also generate effective interactions that foster reciprocity and creative thinking.

Arts
Molloy University has a vibrant array of community programs and initiatives focused on cultural arts and engagement.
The Madison Theatre at Molloy University is the cornerstone of cultural engagement. It hosts a variety of performances, including theater productions, performances by CAP21 musical theater students, concerts, and dance performances. The theatre provides a platform for both professional artists and students to showcase their talents.
The theatre also offers educational programs and workshops for the community. An annual performance that highlights our Music Therapy program and community relationships is ‘Unity Through Diversity.’ It is an event that supports all abilities, a musical and artistic extravaganza championing contributions of the neurodivergent community in every aspect.
Community Service
Experiential Learning and Service Trips
Molloy University places a strong emphasis on community service and experiential learning, involving both faculty and students in various impactful initiatives. Molloy organizes trips that provide students with opportunities to engage in community service both domestically and internationally. These trips are designed to address various social issues, such as poverty, education, and healthcare, while promoting cultural exchange and global awareness.
The annual Puerto Rico service trips, organized by the Office of Experiential Learning in collaboration with the Office of Campus Ministries, offers Molloy students
a unique opportunity to engage in both service and cultural immersion. Recently, students spent time in Cataño, Puerto Rico. While in Cataño, students gained firsthand insights from residents regarding the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria on the community, made even worse by its vulnerable location below sea level. Molloy students dedicated their time to aiding the community by clearing overgrown shrubs and removing damaged furniture from a home that was ravaged by the hurricane.
During the Experience El Salvador trip, students and alumni from Molloy University and Dominican University traveled to El Salvador to assist Sister Flor de Maria Buruca, Dominican Sister of Amityville and graduate of Molloy College, in running a camp for the children in the villages of Sol Naciente and Once. The trip was filled with eye-opening experiences. The camp is the culmination of the children’s school program, which helps kids stay in school-related programs, rather than spend time on the streets. Four students and eight alumni participated in the January 2024 trip.
For over 25 years, Molloy University’s Appalachia Service Trip has taken place at Big Laurel Learning Center in Kermit, West Virginia, one of the poorest and rural areas in the nation. Each summer, a oneweek camp is run for teen boys in the area. Over the years, the Molloy group has witnessed the campers develop. For these campers, spending time with Molloy mentors is vital to their understanding the positive aspects of education and life outside of the cycle of poverty.
Additionally, Molloy University students and faculty traveled
to Tanzania to work with Global Volunteers and serve the community in Ipalamwa. Students and faculty assisted in the clinic and made home visits alongside Global Volunteer healthcare providers, to provide prenatal and postnatal care to women in the community. Students worked in the clinic with the physicians, and they also learned to diagnose and treat various diseases. They were allowed to conduct health-related classes, which were translated into Swahili for the mothers who attended the classes.
Living Mission and Ministry
With a foundation of Catholic identity, Campus Ministries brings together students and employees in the common search for Truth in the Dominican Way in an accepting and inclusive environment. Campus Ministries sponsors retreats, Masses, prayer services, and service experiences both locally and globally.
Molloy supports Bethany House, an organization that offers a safe haven that supports healing and personal growth for women with children facing homelessness. Through the efforts of Mission and Ministry, students can spend an evening with the women and children of Bethany House and learn what it is like to be homeless on Long Island. The Boxtown event at Molloy raises funds to support Bethany House. During Boxtown, students sleep outside overnight in a box and sponsors help them raise funds for Bethany House.
Two times a year, Molloy students can participate in an
event called the ‘Midnight Run’. Participants collect, prepare, and deliver food and clothes by van to the homeless on the streets of Manhattan between the hours of 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Students also have the chance to serve the poor closer to home at The I.N.N. Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center in Hempstead.
Each December, the Molloy community joins together to take part in a “Sponsor a Family” event. Students act as “Santa” for a family in need. Specifically, participant families from Our Lady of Loretto Parish who have little at Christmas. The community collects and distributes gifts to the families.
Local Enrichment Programming
The Rising Star Academy and Summer Camp provide a powerful combination of a school-year mentorship program and a five-week summer academic enrichment camp for elementary school students from Title I districts. The initiative fosters academic growth, leadership skills, and exposure to STEAM education, all while offering Molloy students the opportunity to serve as mentors and educators.
The Rising Star Academy (school-year program) offers weekly mentoring sessions for 5th graders at Molloy. This includes STEAM-focused activities, homework support, and college exposure. Also included are parent events, including campus tours with Admissions and health services from Molloy’s Mobile Clinic.
The Rising Star Summer Camp is a fiveweek academic enrichment program for students from Title I school districts. The
camp is taught by NYS-certified teachers in Math, ELA, and character education and the camp maintains a student-to-mentor ratio of 1:3.
“Through the efforts of Mission and Ministry, students can spend an evening
