The Legend Singers Reunion Concert

Enjoy a live concert celebrating Black Music Month and 83 years of the Legend Singers’ continuous performance and preservation of African American folk music, The celebration will travel the Soul Train, honoring Slack musicians and their music, from early slave songs to present-day pop and hip-hop.

Kickoff your weekend at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park! Each Thursday Night at the Museum will be the most fun, engaging, uplifting, thought-provoking, and perspective-shaping night of your week. And there are drinks. Join us starting at 5:30pm for pop-up activities. The main stage comes to life at 6:30pm, light appetizers and drinks are available for purchase until 7:00pm, and the Museum’s exhibits and shop are open until 8:00pm for you to explore!

Queer and Allied Writes: Finding Essential Moments in Your Story

One of the biggest challenges for established and beginning writers alike is finding the essential moments to illuminate their stories. Joan Lipkin will facilitate a workshop to identify them. In addition to creating your own work, you’ll have a chance to get an inspirational, up-close look at some of the queer literature in the Missouri Historical Society Collections. This workshop will include conversation, writing, and opportunities to be in community with new friends or old ones. All orientations are welcome. Lipkin is an award-winning writer, director, and educator who is profiled in the recent book Fifty Key Figures in Queer US Theoh’e.

These proud service members were forced to live in hiding for decades, and though recent laws have changed that, there is still much progress to be made. This year’s symposium returns to a full day of in-person-only presentations by scholars who will help us better understand one of our nation’s most important generals and presidents,

Soldiers Memorial invites you to free indoor movie matinees! This year’s movie selections are inspired by our current exhibition, Vietnam: At War and At Home. Chairs are provided, but visitors are encouraged to bring a folding chair for more comfort. Popcorn and beverages will be provided.
