MANDARIN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR (Grade 41) Reports to

The Director, Language Division

Purpose

:

To prepare and deliver (teach and administer) Mandarin language courses & training modules to course participants.

Minimum qualification: BA (Hons) in Mandarin/Chinese language (with Education) Three to Five (3-5) years of working experience in the related field Excellent command of spoken and written Mandarin (for Mandarin Instructors) A team player, self-motivated and achievement oriented Has a passion for teaching and sharing of knowledge Good communication and interpersonal skills Exposure to international teaching & learning setting will be an added advantage Main duties will include: Preparing and delivering Mandarin language training modules: The Mandarin Language Instructor should be responsible for syllabus design, development of teaching and learning materials, & effective delivery of Mandarin training programmes based on sound Mandarin language pedagogy The Mandarin Language Instructor should be able to design courses to help learners begin gaining mastery of all the basic skills of the Mandarin language--speaking, listening, reading, and writing--as well as the cultural context in which they are used The Mandarin Language Instructor should be responsible for the teaching, learning and management of the Mandarin language courses The Mandarin Language Instructor should be responsible for preparing reports of courses delivered

Additional duties will include:

Undertaking administrative duties related to the support and teaching role including maintaining participants’ records, correspondence and reports, writing references and liaising with the relevant bodies within the Institute.
