SPRING PAVILLION

S P R I N G P A V I L L I O N - Brief

The objective of this proposal, Amsterdam Spring Pavilion, is to create a multi-usage pavilionin the emblematic Vondelpark that can connect people,nature and architecture. The pavilion will capture the essence of spring which is also the season of full bloom and be able to host different activities and activate the zone.

Amsterdam has been one of Europe’s pioneers of architecture and design, largely because of the 17th century rings of canal houses,gabled facades, windmills and drawbridges. Modern architecture developed organically in Amsterdam between the facades of historical buildings, making it one of the finest blends between Renaissance, Berlage and the Amsterdam School. The city has a very strong cultural and artistic identity. Amsterdam is the most important cultural and artistic center to the north from Paris and between London and Cologne. Art galleries play a major role in the rich cultural scene of Amsterdam - along with theatres, concert halls, museums, libraries, design centers, and periodical events such as cultural festivals and art fairs. Amsterdam is known for its heavy-hitters of art history – Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh. The city of museums is the one of the most important destination for the art-mappers of the world.

INTERVENTION ZONE

A pavilion is considered to be a freestanding structure whose function makes it an object of pleasure. They must be focused on activities that allow people to interact with each other and to have a dialogue with the park itself. TThe project is developed near the bank of the water body in the park, to find a balance between the proposed usages and the fragile environment where it will be located. The proposal considers a built of 200 sq.m. where the activities are based on a theorotical approach of Bio Behavioral Mechanism which considers not only the activity of the people but also activity of the fauna living there andhence makes the full use of it.

The spring pavilion is envisioned as a meeting point for different cultural and leisure circuits, with the goal of using the same space for a broad range of daytime and nocturnal activities in a sustainable fashion that respects its surroundings. The idea is for it to become an obligatory stop for visitors to Vondelpark hence making it monumental too.

CO X-T PROJECT - TWO The Idea Behind Co X T project 2 is to work on the principle of interconnecting functions of different species and giving a workable form which is the resultant consideration of all the users using it. Also Architecture is like a huge beast or monster wherever they will go because of their radiation and sheer size the environment will modify on earth to meet it’s need because just like humans earth is also adaptable to the positive and negative effects on the planet. Small qunatities of consiistent inputs results in consequences which affects the climate of our planet, hence as a result this project also offers to explore and experiment how an object of appreciation can be created which has a minimal footprint but fulfills the necessary So if you see the Architecture as monsters which we build for different purpose in different zones of the planet, it should respond and provide the benefit by it’s aura let it be of any shape and size but it should reflect upon the idea that it will heal the earth and make a positive impact on the global warming impacts which we are facing rather than an interior only impact for the humans who build it for them.

UNDERSTANDING BIODIVERSITY - It is made up of 3 intertwined aspects ecosystem, species and genetics the more intertwining between these features the more denser and more resilient the weave becomes. Every feauture links and provides stability to the next strengthening biodiversity weave and providing to the major mass depending on it The Design & Architecture needs to have elements & features which are symbiotically related with the form as well as the function considering all factors or possibilities to give a complex weave of long term solution.

Cross conceptualising the idea and the influence of a species like wolf out of the other diverse species on the surrounding context • After 70 years without wolves, the reintroduction caused unanticipated change in Yellowstone’s ecosystem and even its physical geography. The process of change starting from the top of the food chain and flowing through to the bottom is called trophic cascades.

• Wolves are causing a trophic cascade of ecological change, including helping to increase beaver populations and bring back aspen, and vegetation.

• The same way architectural design should also affect the surrounding context let it be a small pavillion or a skyscrapper impacts needs to be positive and sustainable.

The wonder of the world the Great Pyramid of Giza. This colossal Egyptian structure is so grand a work that even today, 4,500 years after its construction, it is still considered by some to be the most impressive civil engineering project in history, beating out feats like the Panama Canal, the Hoover Dam, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The pyramid isn’t just an ancient wonder. Just as the Great Pyramid has managed to survive into modern times, so has our love affair with the simple but powerful angled shape. Such primitive shape have given us rich and lush geometrical possibilities in the form of edifice, the idea of it,s visualisation is still a mystery but the transition of a primitive square to a conical form is one of the oldest examples of form not following the function.

The pyramid represents various functions it acts as a tomb, it symbolises constellations, hierarchy system of planning, etc. The base of the pyramid is the most striking and also the most important as to what is conceived as a final design form, the base of a pyramid can be trilateral, quadrilateral, or of any polygon shape. As such, a pyramid has at least three outer triangular surfaces (at least four faces including the base). There have been a lot of adaptation with respect to technological advancements with the pyramid form in every era but the base idea of a triangle and a square working togethere in a 3 dimensional structural composition is the key behind this marvel.

Anubis was depicted in black, a color that symbolized regeneration, life, the soil of the Nile River, and the discoloration of the corpse after embalming. Anubis is associated with his brother Wepwawet, another Egyptian god portrayed with a dog’s head or in canine form, but with grey or white fur.

Using this a means of analogy to get inspired from this mythical humanoid for its sleek and selnder presence overlooking certain sections of the world as per the egyptian belief, because of which Anubis have become a symbol relating this to the idea where our form or any given form should become a symbiotic symbol for the function and place it is made for, eg Jewish Museum Berlin

S P RI NG THE OR Y Which is the user who experiences spring in no other way as human does?

Birds as they are the closest to the form of nature and closest to it’s warmth and closest to it’s colours because of the scale and mass of their body so in order for a human to experience such beautiful sight the Architecture should gel (another word for gel) with the user For me the intention of the pavillion is not an insert or addition to the existing park but i wanted it to be the living beast inside the park forming a symbiotic association with the park and my Architecture so it’s a cumulative Architecture an amalgamation of two coherent force combined and camouflaged for the user

BI O B E HAVI O RAL MECH AN I S M This idea is to show and help in understanding the functional impact on Architecture along with the other methodology you opt in the process for eg in the switch pavillion apart from the spring season because of which the pavillion is to be made is not the only factor the cyclers, the skateboarder, the skaters,etc also are a part of the space which will impact the pavillion in was where they can also interact with it and the next step in the process in to involve the nature for eg the birds or the animals living around the park what kind of provisions if provided will coherence to their natural behaviour pattern where usually some birds sit on top of the roof the projection or the openings in the building form so that will give a revolutionary change to not only the form of the building by connecting major living organisms which if considered already in the process will give the perfect volume needed for the pavillion Bio Behavioural mechanism does not have one focus it has a foci where if connected properly can give wonders to man and back to nature in terms of sustainable design solutions because the form of the unknowns

The Functionality of the design is to enclose all the needed exhibition areas in a elevation & also below the elevated platform as, both of the zones can have their individual exhibit & activity All the activity of the park is weaved with the help of the form where users interact with the structure at different scales and levels.

The branch like structure becomes a focal point for birds to use it as branches to sit The use of green concrete will result in patinisation in some years and make the whole structure camouflage in the dense canopy of the park making it more suitable for blending in when the time of the spring comes as it will also change it shades with the help of the ivys from green to warm yellow orange hence, becoming a symbol for the park to celebrate spring season.
