The office of the prime Minister of Egypt Has declared Maspero triangle an “Urban replanning zone�. By this declaration, the Governorate of Cairo is entitled to change the land use and other urban planning parameters in order to improve the land use and lifestyle of the tenants and owners. Community discussions and open forums with tenants have already begun and agreements are being drawn between the government, tenants and various stakeholders to establish a participatory urban upgrading approach which maintains livelihoods, prevents gentrification and ensures full cooperation with the property owners.
