Letter from the Editor T

raditionally Holidays are times we all look forward to. Fun times with family, social gatherings, winter outings and snow— depending on your location. With all the festivities, one would need to be trendy. Trending fashion for this season is as equally important to the fashion diva. Trending colors this winter include the generals: red, green, blue, gold, cream, silver and white. Also trending now is a mix of fabrics and prints. Suede & leather, multicolored faux fur wraps and coats. Whether you're going for a night out on the town or hanging with your bestie, faux fur has become more than a statement piece... but, and everyday use. Sherpa vests and jackets, sequin denims, jackets, hats and dresses are back on the rise as well. Polka dots and stripes are now being partnered together, when in the past it was considered taboo mixing prints.

Berets with faux fur balls big and floppy hats are now trending. These items are worn casually or to after work events with very versatile pieces that are sure add some holiday magic to any attire.

2018 has pushed Mod Trends to new heights. Checking out the year with six powerful issues, Mod Trends is a magazine that is on the rise. Starting the year off with the Beauty and Spring issue that gave us insight on what was to come for essential trending colors and new makeup products. We moved right into one of our most controversial issues—Diversity. This issue showcased the rare beauty in all shapes, races, social economic status, and religions. We pulled models from all backgrounds to show beauty in all it’s forms— probably my favorite issue thus far. June brought on the sizzling swimsuit issue that showcased beauties in the latest swimsuit trends and had features with up Transitioning pieces from the fall and coming models— some to winter include the Beret. making their first debut in Mod Trends/8

swimwear. Our fall issue followed suit shortly after as it encompassed New York Fashion week. Debuting all the latest trends of fall booties, jackets, scarves and berets. That issue was sure to please. Now we’ve come to the Finale of the year— the holiday issue. This issue is surely to showcase holiday décor, trends, sultry

fashions and the divas that display them well. We have a multitude of models that showcase different aspects of the holiday season. There’s something for everyone in this issue. Let the holiday magic begin. Have a Happy Holiday!

Christmas Tradition

N

o Christmas celebra on feels complete without a decorated tree. One of our Contributors, Janine Carter shares her family Christmas tradi on. The holiday season also brings on family tradi ons. On December 1st we light and decorate the tree and outdoors while listening and singing Tempta ons Christmas album. The 1st Friday in December we pull names for Secret Santa. On the 2nd Friday we go donate to a homeless shelter all the items we collected. The 3rd week we prepare our dinner menu for the Christmas gathering and everyone makes a special dish for everyone to try. On Christmas eve we stay up all night playing games, doing karaoke and prepping dinner. We allow the li le ones to open one gi before bed. Christmas morning, we make breakfast, open gi s and take picture in our Christmas pj. The next holiday is New Year's Eve. We usually make sure the house is clean and have a small gathering to bring in the new year. We toast with the beverage of choice for adults and Welch's sparkling white grape juice. A er the ball drops, we head to bed. If you would like to share your Family Christmas Tradi ons with us, feel free to email us at editor@modelsdiges rends.com and we’ll publish it in our next Holiday Issue. Mod Trends/9

s a plus size women it’s exci ng to see women loving who they are and breaking the mold that “plus size women should only wear pieces that make them appear smaller”. I love seeing women of all shapes par cipa ng in new trending styles. Rock your confidence by wearing your pa erns, prints, bold colors (even

white) and know that you are beau ful. Beauty starts in the mind and spills all over to your exterior. In the words of Victor Silas, “You can do it, just do". Mod trends has supported beau es of all sizes and I am proud to say that my first feature was in this very magazine. The wisdom, talent and vision that Victor has showcased this year is unmatched in his stature. I look forward to what 2019 will bring and openly welcome the challenge. Mod Trends/21

Red Bow

A Latina model with classy style is wearing a “ready to wear” red apple knee length dress. The texture of the dress is very soft combined with a touch of elegance for the holidays. Red has been her favorite color this year. Knee length dresses are classy and comfortable for any special occasion. Her style is sophisticated and adds attitude to her look. This classic style is not about being old fashioned, it’s about bringing out a look that can turn heads in a heartbeat. This beautiful red apple dress is from “Material Girl”.

Why Christmas

Is MyFavorite

Holiday Ever since I was a little kid, the Holiday season has been my favorite time of the year.

C

hristmas, by far, is my favorite holiday in terms of spirit and grace. It’s a time where people come together in peace, despite their differences and problems they have encountered. People seem happier with holiday cheer and it really lls my heart with so much joy. Seeing people spend time together and let go of their egos by creating beautiful memories with their loved ones... I could say that Christmas seems to bring out the best in people. I usually don’t talk to strangers, but after Thanksgiving, I am given holiday greetings by almost everyone I meet.

Christmas-time is a miracle that brings families together with love and peace. Dress: Model’s Own Makeup: Done by Model Photography: Visil Photography Assistant: Matthew Lagunzad

Growing up in Mexico, I didn’t get the pleasure to encounter decorations in houses. When I came to America, I was mesmerized to see all the festive decorations and lights everywhere. Everything seemed to be so magical. I remember walking by houses ad seeing people’s decorations and trees lit up from windows. Christmas is so magical. It brings so much magic to our childlike hearts and for that little while everyone believes in the impossible. My absolute favorite part of Christmas (something I couldn’t realize until I got older —being with my family. I am so lucky that I can be with my family and show our love and appreciation for one another no matter what else has happened throughout the year. families together with love and peace. As a little girl, I loved Christmas and I would get so excited about the gifts I would get. Now as a woman, I care less about the presents I receive and am more happy in knowing that my family is healthy and are all together. Although my ideals have changed, the child in me remains excited about wrapping presents and decorating my home. To me Christmas is my present. It’s the season where my heart is gifted by experiencing so much love in the air and being able to give, care, share and be kind to one another.... which is my absolute favorite part above all. Queen of Hearts It’s no secret red reigns supreme during the holiday season, but this year has catalyzed this bold hue to the top of our wish lists. Even before the windows on Fifth Ave were decked out for their iconic festivities, it’s been a favorite amongst the fashion set for AW18. Rich reds adhere to taking power dressing to the next level while simultaneously upholding an essence of romance, condence and holiday spirit.

Stepping into the Yuletide Season

Mod Trends/52

Snow Leopard Luxe Arguably the biggest trend of AW18, animal print has taken over the concrete jungle. Even though our Instagram feeds are overowing with prints from leopard to snake, there’s still time to make it your own this season. Keep it classy for holiday gatherings with the family or glam it up for a winter night on the town. For a fresh take on the trend, try opting for a coloredground print or mixand-match motifs. Fashion List: Nasty Gal Skirt H&M Cami Bershka Jacket Dolce & Gabbana boots

Not-So-Santa Suiting Suiting has been everywhere from runways to the streets this season.... and now it’s ready for its holiday debut! Although seemingly foreign to the party scene, menswear-inspired staples are easily elevated through high-shine fabrics, eye-catching colorways and never-enough embellishments. Paired with feminine layering details and accessories, suiting becomes a perfect styling cue guaranteed to score a kiss under the traditional mistletoe.
