ThirdClass – Ms McDonnell

August return to school began with harvesting onions inour school garden. The class quickly got to catch up and welcome Mia into the class as they chatted over board games. Soon we were back into the rhythm of school life with stars of the week, birthdaysand assemblies. Maths week in October was fun and challenging with teamwork a must on outdoor maths trails. Halloween brought spooky costumes, dancing and traditional games to the classroom.
The dark days of winter were brightened bya fun day playing in the snow in the old school yard. The classroom was cosy as we sang Christmas carols, enjoyed a bake sale and wore our Christmas j umpers for Santa's visit. Pizza from Ana and Jazzy's was a welcome lunchtime treat after our carol service.
Ms MacHugh and Science week were very welcome in January. As was our weekly swim in K -Leisure and camogie with trainer Emmet. The girls also had a lot of fun singing and playing games in their weekly Spanish lesson.
In February, the girls learned about sound and created their own instruments. March brought Seachtain na Gaeilge which ended in the whirl of our Céilí Mór. Spring saw Kathleen bring two lambs to the class and we watched swans build their nest beside the canal. We had a fun treasure hunt and storytelling in the library too.
Our Farm to Fork experience in Newbridge in May gave the girls a chance to see vegeta bles growing and a calf suckling, as well a ride on a mini train. Fitness with Mario and orienteering started our mornings in May and afternoons we trained for our fun run.

As the year ends with sports day and a trip to the zoo the girls have worked hard, looked after each other and deserve a good break!
