FirstClass – Ms Gaughan

We had a brilliant year in First Class. I have really enjoyed teaching this wonderful group of pupils. In September, Garda Seamus visited us - he told us all about his important job and showed us his handcuffs and baton. He also showed us the Garda car. This was an exciting event for the class.

In October, David Moore from Astronomy Ireland gave us a zoom call –it was called; ‘An Introduction into the Night Sky.’ We thoroughly enjoyed this talk.

We participated in Maths Week in October also – completing puzzles and interactive activities. Santa came to visit on December 20th – we all met Santa on the yard and later he visited us in our classrooms.

We had our annual Science week on the week of January 16th. We enjoyed acting as scientists, carrying out experiments and analysing the results of these experiments.

In February, the librarians visited from Naas library for a music and story workshop. The class loved this visit. We then went up to Naas library for a treasure hunt and entered a colouring competition. We also participated in Kindness Week.

The DWTS dancers visited us –Emily and Carol came to St Mary’s hall and even danced for the pupils. We had some students from St Mary’s Secondary school reading to our class. We participated in the Food Dudes initiative – the girls tasted new fruit and vegetables.

Overall, we had a terrific year and I wish the pupils every success in second class
