Message from our Board of Management

The 2022-2023 school year comes to a close. Another excellent year for the Mercy Convent, Naas. I hope you enjoy reading about all the activities and many achievements in the school in this excellent Yearbook. Without your enthusiastic engagement in school life, at whatever level, these pages would be terribly dull! The Board of Management are lucky, and extremely grateful, to have such a dedicated leader in Principal, Mr. Cathal Ruane, supported by a terrific staff of educators, assistants and administrators. We’re even luckier to have such a vibrant and engaged cohort of young students, who are the life and energy of the school community and continue the strong tradition of Mercy education at the heart of the town of Naas.

The Board of Management has been busy with the normal board activities in managing the governance and finances for the school, reviewing policies and generally supporting the work of the school community. The purchase of new ICT equipment (interactive classroom screens and iPads) during the year has greatly benefitted digital learning in the school. In addition, the Board has been active in pressing for progress with the school building project and in formally requesting from the school’s Patron, an enrolment reconfiguration to take place later in 2023.

I would like to thank all our pupils and their parents/guardians for their contribution to school life in so many different ways and means throughout the school year. On behalf of the Board of Management, I extend a particular farewell to the pupils of Sixth Class, hoping that you’ve enjoyed your time in the Mercy Convent, and wishing you well as you make the transition to secondary education in September.
