EMERGENCY FUNDS ASSISTANCE

Funding is Needed for Emergency Assistance to Students

Being a college student on a tight budget is never easy, and when an emergency occurs, it makes it more difficult to make ends meet.

Your support can help a student through an unanticipated expense, the one time they need it the most.

CARE Center - Emergency Funding

When a Texas State University student is faced with the financial effects of an urgent expense and they have exhausted all other means of assistance, a staff member at the Compassion Advocacy Resources & Education (CARE) Center in the Dean of Students office can identify potential sources of emergency funds.

Emergency funding assistance is provided to a student one time per academic year at Texas State, and funds are limited to $100-$750 per student, depending on the funding source.

Student must qualify for emergency funding based on these criteria:

■ Currently enrolled or was enrolled in the previous long (fall or spring) semester as an undergraduate or graduate student but did not graduate.

■ Has not received emergency assistance — either a grant or a loan — from any Texas State office due to COVID-19 (Bobcat Cares, CARE Center, and any department, college, or program grants and/or scholarships). This will be verified prior to consideration.

■ Can provide official documentation about both the emergency (unforeseen) event and the subsequent financial need.

■ Exhausted all other financial resources.

■ Completed the Funding Request Form

Once funding is approved and to make sure the funds are available quickly, the emergency funds are disbursed to the student through direct deposit.

Additionally, when a natural disaster occurs, CARE Center staff provides assistance and information about state and national recovery efforts.
