MATERNITY ENGAGEMENT ACTION CIC (MEA CIC)
MEA CIC is a Black-led, women-centred community organisation based in Birmingham. We work at the intersection of lived experience, maternal health equity, and system change. Our mission is to create brave, culturally safe spaces for Black women and birthing people across the perinatal journey, while actively reshaping how maternity services engage with our community.
WHAT WE DO:
• Therapeutic Storytelling: For pregnancy & birth wellbeing
• Virtual Peer Support – Digital spaces offering solidarity and shared experience (join via our website)
• Wellbeing sessions: Sat’day Soup and Wellbeing Walks
• Free Online Counselling support – 10 mothers have completed our eight-week course, boosting confidence and developing sustainable coping strategies for motherhood
OUR IMPACT (2024–25):
• 304+ community contacts engaged through our activities.
• See Me Hear Me (SMHM) community-led research report: https://maternityengagement.uk/wp-content/ uploads/2024/11/See-Me-Hear-Me-Report-Design-final.pdf
