MMI students participate in the PA FBLA Leadership Conference

Several seniors in the MMI Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club participated in this year’s State Leadership Workshop (SLW) at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Pocono Mountains in November. Kate Malay, Anden Karlick, Emely Lopez-Rodriquez, Ty McDermott, Jeffrey DeAngelo, Jessica Zheng, John Schwear, and Brenna Eckhart were the senior students who attended the Leadership Conference.

This year’s theme was “Imagine, Dream, Do!” and students participated in many interactive and engaging workshops such as “Entrepreneurial Edge”, “Trace the Trade”, and “Soft Skills in the 21st Century”. Students also enjoyed a behind-thescenes tour of the resort. Other activities included the Charity Walk, State Project T-shirt Sale, and the Silent Basket Auction to raise funds for the Make-AWish Foundation.

Sophomore Hayden Schwabe also attended in his role as the PA FBLA state vice-president at large. Schwabe worked with the other state officers and advisors of the PA FBLA State Executive Committee to plan the SLW and delivered speeches at both the Opening and Closing Business Sessions. He also led a workshop focused on FBLA Middle Level, a program designed to increase membership and involvement in FBLA for students in middle school.

MMI’s FBLA program is supported through generous sponsorships from Flashback Cinema and The Orlando Family Foundation.
