After a great few opening weeks, the Project Graduation looks to continue pushing towards their goal. The team is always looking for volunteers for all events. There are more options than just volunteering at sporting events. One way you can really help the team is by going out and looking for people willing to donate to the cause. Although the banner placement is over, you can still find businesses and even people in the community that are willing to donate to make this years Project graduation great. What happened at the last meeting?: The last meeting led to some major overhauling of the way things would be done. No longer is there a point system for those who volunteer their time. Rather you now earn extra incentives when you volunteer for the drawings at the end. Since this isn’t entirely refined yet, the team looks the seniors and parents of those students for ideas to help improve this system. Also at the last meeting it was determined that the students will need to be the ones volunteering to earn these incentives, so if you want these things you must get out there and give your time. Parents will not be able to earn this for you, but the help is still very welcome. How do I give my input?: Show up at the meetings and make your voice heard. Your suggestions and ideas are valued and will be discussed with all people who are participating on the board and at the meeting. The project Graduation team are willing to listen to what you have to say, so do not be shy, come out and let them know what you think! Let’s get out there and make this Project Graduation a great experience for the students. Academic Team Academic team has started its preseason practices. All through September Mr.Scego will be hosting the practices in his room on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school to 4:30. Earlier this month the coaches from all the different schools met and produced a schedule for the year which will be included in this article. (Interview with a student from practices.): Jack Stone What are you most looking forward to this season?

IPhone X

going to have a huge upgrade within the phone. This upgrade is the upgraded processor in the phone. This is going to make the new iPhone not only run faster, but also smoother. Users of the new iPhone X won’t be having any problems with their phones running slow. This means users can have a much nicer and smoother experience while using this phone. Since there has been a lot of controversy on this recent phone interviews have shown the mixed emotions about the new iPhone X. In a recent interview with senior Noah Briley he stated “ I’m excited, nervous, and skeptical when it comes to the new iPhone X. I honestly don’t know what to expect when it comes to this phone. Hopefully this phone will be able to live up to the hype.” When asked about if he was going to buy it in the near future Noah claims “Yes, I definitely be getting the new iPhone.” When asked about the price of the new iPhone X Noah said “ It is honestly expected by the Apple community. Apple is known to overprice their phones. This phone is for sure a little overpriced.” In another interview with Nick Smugala there was a completely different opinion when it came to the new iPhone. When asked about how he felt about the iPhone X Nick said “ I think it’s like the rest of the other iPhones that have previously came out. Feature honestly don’t please me for the price.” This response was completely different to Noah’s Briley opinion on the iPhone X. When Nick was asked about the release date of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X he stated “Apple put themselves in a hole because they could have made more money if there was a bigger gap in the release dates. This is because people are only going to buy one phone or the other. Now if they separated the release dates people would be more likely to buy an upgrade on the iPhone.” Nick’s statement is extremely different to Noah’s statement. These interviews just show the different opinions when it comes to the iPhone X.

By: Colin Briley Apple is releasing a brand new iPhone on November 3rd this year. This iPhone is going to be called the iPhone X. The reason that this phone is going to be called the iPhone X. This is because Apple is celebrating their tenth anniversary of their iPhone series. This new phone has caused a lot of controversy among the Apple community. People are upset for two main reasons. The first reason is that the price of the new phone will definitely put a hole in your pocket. The new iPhone X is being listed for $999 dollars for just the default 64 gigabyte model. The next reason people are upset about the iPhone X is coming out about a month and a half after the iPhone 8’s release date. The iPhone 8 was released on September 22nd compared to the iPhone X’s November 3rd. Even though this phone might be expensive many of the new features make this new price reasonable. These new innovative ideas have impressed many people when it comes to this new iPhone. One of these new ideas that they have put towards this iPhone is that the screen now takes up the front of the phone other than the small notch on the top of the screen. This is good, because it allows a bigger display for the phone. Not only have they made the screen bigger, they’ve also made it to where they got rid of the home button on the bottom of the phone. Not only has the screen size been increased, but Apple has made it to where the phone has a face recognition feature for opening up the phone. This feature makes it to where instead of having to type in a password the phone scans your face and unlocks the phone much faster than having to type a password. This is not only faster, but safer. This is because people can’t access your phone without you unlocking the phone. Apple has also upgraded the screen which makes colors more vibrant and have a lot better contrast. The new iPhone X also comes with a feature Apple fans have all been waiting for. This feature is the new wireless charging. This allows you to not have annoying cords while you are charging your phone. The iPhone X is also the most durable phone that iPhone has ever made. It is now water and dust resistant. Not only that, the new iPhone will now have the most durable glass ever put into an iPhone.

At the end of the day the iPhone is going to be a great phone. If you are looking for a new phone the iPhone X definitely won’t be a disappointment. Even though the price will put a dent in your wallet this phone will for sure be worth the price. This phone will be a huge upgrade to most people’s current phone. The iPhone X will impress a lot of people with its awesome new features. This is going to be great phone no matter who you are and what you are looking for. This phone will suit your needs if you are looking for a phone for pictures, a phone for playing games on, or just everyday use. No matter who you are this phone will be great for you.

One item that a lot of people look forward to in having a smartphone is a good camera. iPhone has came up with a new camera, and it is going to be even better than the notorious cameras of the old iPhones. Now with the new camera you will be able to capture the things around you with true lighting and coloring. The previous iPhone cameras we have seen in the past have been incredible. The fact that the iPhone’s new camera is being upgraded just means that these iPhone X users are going to capture some fantastic pictures and videos. Speaking of new awesome upgrades the new iPhone X it is

Italian Tomatoes

Hurricane Havoc

EVENTS

Italian tomatoes Reeds spring is the home of the wolves, but what if I told you it hasn’t always been this way? We may be fierce now, but our mascot had a much more docile nature before. The city of Reeds Spring was founded in the 1800s by an Italian man named Fitzhugh Reed. This man started the town near a spring that is located in the downtown area of our small city, hence the name Reeds Spring. Reed was not a rich man, and brought in money to found our town using his agricultural skills; these skills being farming tomatoes. The tomato then became sort of a symbol in our town. When they started our school and sports team, they could think of no better mascot then the mighty tomato. This was seen as a tribute to our founder. This was also seen as a tribute to our team’s strength and perseverance, since growing crops in our area was difficult in those times. The tomato would remain our mascot for many years until the 1930’s. During that time our school had a superintendent who was a very interesting character and would be responsible for the shift from the Reeds Spring Tomatoes to the Reeds Spring Wolves. He had served in World War I which caused him to suffer from shell shock. This lead to his quirky behavior. One of his most notable quirks was the way he chose to dismiss the students at the end of the day. Back in that time our school did not have the bell system we have today, so he decided there was no better way to let the students know it was time to leave than howling like a wolf. Shortly after he retired we decided to adopt his wolf-like spirit as our own and change our mascot to the wolf. Though we may not know about this first mascot, our faculty and staff have not let go of this memory. To pay homage to a simpler time and the founding of our town, all new faculty and staff at Reeds Spring schools are given a can of tomatoes. These aren’t just any tomatoes though, they’re Italian tomatoes, a further mention to our founders heritage. Our staff finds this the best way to share a little bit of our history with those new members who may not be familiar with our area; A fun way to get them proud to be a wolf, and remind them that it could be worse and we could still be the tomatoes. Reeds Spring has changed in many ways and it’s important not to let these changes remove our memories of the past. We all need to be thankful that we are in a time where our mascot shows how fierce we really are and isn’t something you’d find on your salad.

Imagine the biggest storm you’ve ever been in. Imagine rain, a lot of it, just pouring down with heavy winds. Rain is falling so hard you can’t see. The sky is grey, and you know you wouldn’t be able to make it out of your house. You fear for lives, your family, and yourself. That is Hurricane Harvey, summed up in a simple mind of words. Twenty-seven trillion gallons of rain fell. That’s 69 years of water supply for a big city like New York. The disasters involved in this storm included houses (almost 40,000), cars (almost 500,000), and land destroyed, the damage costing around 20 billion dollars. The flat plain was absolutely trashed. As disasters come, the help will always be there. Charities, groups, and organizations are all pitching in to make a difference. People are traveling down to put in their help, donate money and supplies, and just simply give a shoulder to lean on for the thousands devastated. For many, the storm was a leap of faith. Communities strung themselves together to pray, to talk, to question. As if that wasn’t enough, another hurricane is came. This time, in Florida. You might have heard. Hurricane Irma. 180 degree winds, sending Florida into a state of emergency. It was known as a category 5 hurricane (the levels varying) one of the biggest and most dangerous, the means for evacuation is extremely necessary. Warnings were sent out, and many people strived to get out before the storm hit. Many people have already died, and islands could be cut off, forcing people to live in isolation. Does this seem like too much? It is. These storms will definitely set many people back, and the need for help is imminent. Another issue focusing on Florida and hurricanes is the issue of creatures escaping the preserves and zoos, to be specific, crocodiles. At least three were found, at random places. This creates more issues, more dangers. People are forced to ride in boats and wade, and considering the amount of silt and dirt in the water, a reptile would be hard to see. Even after all this, another hurricane is forming. And another…. will this cycle ever end?

Wolf Updates

Monthly “WolvesEye”: Archery 101

Vollyball- our exclusive interview with Lauren Brown we discussed the lady wolves score streak, which is 5-2, they believe the team is looking better than they predicted. Ms.Brown believes that the team is very prepared and it is looking to be a good season.

The archery team will be using the Mathews Genesis compound bows, these bows consist of a handle/main frame, a split framed lym, and a pulley attached to each lym, and a bow string. These bows do not have sights or releases which in turn makes it harder for our modern day archers. In this month’s article we’ll explain how to properly shoot, and handle a compound. We’ll also explain how to properly aim a bow without sights and how to be successful.

Cross Country- In our interview with Cole

Weydert, Mr. Weydert stated that the boys varsity team was looking good and that they all will finish in times lower than twenty minutes. With recent meets being carthage, hollister, and strafford. Finishing strafford at sixth out of eight. Mr. Weydert thought that the team wasn’t looking bad but there’s still room for improvement. All in all the team is looking good this year and should have a good season with the coaching staff of Melissa Locke, and Chris Essick.

First you figure out if your left hand or right hand dominant, when you know if your right hand or left hand dominant. Hold the bow with the hand that is least dominant and then hold the string with your dominant hand. Before we get to shooting you want to turn sideway facing the target you want your least dominant arm closer to the target. Then put your feet shoulder width apart. Then place your arrow on the rest and then pull the nock back onto the string you want the arrow to be perfectly level. The grasp the bow string with the nock of the arrow between your pointer finger and your middle finger you hold the string with your pointer, middle, ring finger.

Girls Tennis-

In our exclusive interviews with Lauren Hustead, Trinity Werner, and Kayla Coffelt, they said that the team was looking good this year. Winning four matches and losing five. And team districts are looking good, but individuals should be good as well. They think the season is looking good. Ms. hustead stated the team is doing really well with all the newcomers. She also stated the newcomers are doing well. The districts are looking harder but looking really good for this years team.

To properly aim your bow, grasp your bow, nock an arrow, pull back, then line up the point of the arrow with the bulls eye. When you move back in distance adjust your aim to compensate, the farther back the higher you aim. Some need to know rules; first is don’t pick up a bow without being instructed to, don’t nock an arrow without being instructed or if someone is in front of the shooting line. You’ll be instructed when you can shoot and when to go collect your score. Usually there is two people to a target, then the opposite person counts your score while you count theirs.

crest on the 28th. Bolivar and Logan Rogersville are there only two losses of the season this year. “They’re both tough competition” Mac Duvall said. Dakota Romesburg interviewed Mac and asked what does it feel like being 12-2? She answered saying, “It feels good and rewarding! I’m very proud of the team.” He then followed up asking how it feels about this being your last season. Mackenzie then quoted, “It’s upsetting to me but it’s been the best season I’ve played my entire high school career. These girls are the best team I have ever played with. Payton Barrington asked her who has stepped up most and stood out the most. She thought long and hard and ended up answering with, “Abby Rudd, Abby has really stepped up. She’s an overall great player for us and her hitting has really improved a lot.” Lots of questions being asked because it has been an eventful season so far, they had to ask what’s different about this year from last year’s season and Mackenzie Duvall went on saying, “We are just so much closer and helping each other improve.” We also asked who the biggest competition was and she said, “We finally beat Republic! We are really preparing for Cassville right now. They are a really good team.” The team is looking really good right now though and it’s been a great year so far. Good luck Lady Wolves!

Football:

vs. Bolivar: The Reeds Spring Wolves got there first win of the season against the Bolivar Liberators and they have been on a roll since then. Surely going into the game everyone was thinking it would be a tough task for the Wolves. Reeds spring opened the game up on the first play with a big run up the sideline by quarterback Blake Gronvold. After that they wouldn’t stop. They would go on to kick the ball off and Lane Loomer, the Liberators running back that returns would fumble and Reeds recovered the ball. They would score on the drive after making a big statement. The Reeds Spring Wolves were back for the Bolivar Liberators once again. They had ended Bolivar’s winning streak at 66 the year before and they wanted to win one more time before the Wolves left the conference to the Big 8. They realized this was a game that they wouldn’t get to play again for possibly a really long time. Bolivar started the season off 0-2 just like the Wolves did and it was a chance to win that Reeds would jump on and take, to heart and to everything. This game has been personal between the two teams for a long time now. They have both been the big competition in the Small COC for everyone else. One team was looking to take the throne and the Wolves were prepared. It was a great game and one that was earned for Reeds Spring.

Vs. Central Reeds Springs win over Springfield Central was a whopping one, with the Wolves shutting out the Bulldogs 45-0. The Wolves didn’t have to punt once the whole night even during the second half with 2nd string players in the game. Blake Gronvold threw a pair of touchdowns, and a few players stepped up such a Sophomore Cody Hughes who finished the night with more than 50 yards rushing a touchdown in his first varsity start. Austin Bradfield and Madee Kelly were named the Homecoming King and Queen. Reeds Spring will take on the team across the lake (Hollister) and look to pull away with 4 straight wins. The game will start at 7 in Hollister. Be there to support your wolves. Softball The softball team is doing really good with only one loss this season to the Bolivar Liberators. They’re 11-2 right now looking to go 12-2 on September 26th against Buffalo. They will play Hill-

reeds and going to homecoming years ago I remember seeing all those pretty girls in such pretty dresses I knew I wanted that and I knew that when they called my name and I see the exciment on Austin’s face I knew I was very thankful” The Reeds Spring 2017 seniors were very happy to have such two amazing people represt us. Homecoming is more than just wining or losing, or a crown on our head, or the spirt days you dress up for. It’s about our school coming together to show school spirt and acting as one to support our boys on doing what they love.

By: Kayla Buckner Homecoming 2017 was one for the books. From starting the week off with a great spirt week to crowning a king and queen to winning the game to ending it with an even better dance. Madelynn Kelly and Austin Bradfield were announced as our 2017 homecoming King and Queen Minutes before our big game. We celebrated a great win on Friday September 15th with our wolves of fall pulling 45-0 and a student section covered in red and white cheering our boys on. We started the week off first with Monday as sports day where each student dressed in their favorite sports gear. Tuesday as rhyme without reason where students found a partner and dressed up as completely different things but rhymed, for example we had a Hawaiian and a lion, and earl and girl. Wednesday as country .vs. country club where students dressed either from a country club or as cowboys. Thursday as tourist day where students dressed like tourist. Friday as red and white day. A total of eight-hundred and seventy-three students dressed up; two-hundred and twelve freshmen, one-hundred and sixty-seven sophomores, two-hundred and sixty-sixty, and two-hundred and twenty-eight seniors. On Friday September 15th we held an assembly filled with fun and games putting spirt points at seventeen for freshmen, eleven for sophomores, twenty-one for juniors, and seniors at twenty-five. Madelynn and Austin were crowned on the field by our 2016 homecoming king and Queen Madison Bauer and Keenan Haynes. As they walked down the field they stopped turned around and took a selfie with the football stadium behind them to capture such and exciting moment. Madelynn and Austin have been close friends since kindergarten when Austin was the only boy to show up at Madees birthday party. “To be nominated was an honor but to win I was very thankful” Austin states. Madee says it “brought back old memories and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be crowned with” madee also states “my older brother had gone to

A Look in the Life of a A Sad Resignation Choir Member By: Alyssa Heard By: Alyssa Heard

On this day (Monday, September 18th) our beloved band director Mr. Devos has resigned for health reasons. This day makes all band members and people that are close to John Devos sad because even though we want him to be healthy we want him to be with us too. See Devos wasn’t just any ordinary band director, he was our friend too. I can say that so confidently because he really was my friend.Every time I walked into his office he had some smart comment to say about my hair or my jokes he was a fantastic teacher and an understanding friend. I can say confidently that he was the light that kept the band going and some people might have quit because of him, but that was because they didn’t try to help the band, they tried to keep it from being successful. Whenever he would tell his stupid cannibal jokes the band would laugh at him afterwards because he always thought that he was funny (he really wasn’t though). When he would have bad days we would all have bad days. We are a family no matter what age we are even if we are in college now we are still a family of band geeks and nerds but we embrace it because that is who we are. When you leave high school, you will probably come back and it would probably be for your girlfriend or boyfriend, but when the college band students come back it’s always been to see Mr. Devos. Every time I would get in trouble in class or with my parents he would alway tell it was my fault for being stupid and that would always make me rethink myself and believe him. He wasn’t just a high school band director for me he was like a second father and a best friend. It breaks my heart to see such a great man be in such pain for doing something he loves. I really believe that what he is doing is for the best but I will never be able to look at another band director the same way as I see him. He is John Devos, the greatest person in the world. He is and always will be the greatest most fantastic teacher I could ever have and that’s a promise.

The most stressful month for a choir member besides March would have to be September because that is when honor choir auditions are and MSU Invitational. Honor choir is an audition to get in a choir filled with the top students in every school from our district. We all come together to perform four to five songs and we learn those songs in one day. MSU Invitational is kind of like honor choir, but you don’t have to audition but only the top eight people from our choir get to go, luckily I am one of those top eight so I get the fortunate chance of participating in something wonderful. For this years Invitational our director was Dr. LaBarr he is the most sporadic and honest person you will ever meet. If you don’t get your

part right after we ran through it once then he would yell at the whole section. Our songs (there were five of them.) were the absolute hardest songs I have ever done most of them were in Latin and African. But this weekend was a time where us leaders in the choir could bond and show our leadership through singing. To go along with bonding we had so much fun over the weekend with Nick yelling at Codi and the Double D’s song that Taylor sang it was hilarious. We would make fun of Dr. LaBarr at lunch and hang out with our old choir members that are going to MSU now. I wish that some people were there to experience it with us. Codi Mitchell and I got to experience this as juniors. What is so precious about Codi Mitchell and I going is that we were the only two juniors and it is fantastic to see that even juniors and lowerclassmen can still be leaders. If I hadn’t gone to MSU over the last weekend I wouldn’t have participated in something great.

Death of Princess Diana

Beyonce Wasn’t Actually Pregnant By: Jenni Essary

By: Samantha Godfrey

Early the morning of August 31, 1997 in Paris, France a car crash occurred killing Diana Frances Spencer ; The Princess of Wales. Along with Diana, there was Dodi Fayed, her boyfriend at the time and the limousine driver Henri Paul. The accident took the lives of all three. It was originally said to be caused by paparazzi’s pursuing the vehicle dangerously close but quickly stories hit the papers that the driver, Henri Paul was extremely under the influence. Even more suspicious, Diana had previously written some lines in her journals with claims that she felt Charles, her husband she was split from, and the current King of England, was conspiring a way to get rid of her. She wrote: “I am sitting here at my desk today in October, longing for someone to hug me and encourage me to keep strong and hold my head high.” & “This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous—my husband is planning ‘an accident’ in my car, brake failure and serious head injury.” The death of Diana came at a eerily convenient time for King Charles, since he was involved with Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall. It’s hard to imagine Charles ever being allowed to remarry, let alone make someone else queen, while Diana was still living. There were some unorthodox events that occurred after Diana was pronounced dead. The Princess’ body was frisked for any royal jewelry at the queen’s request. It was written that “if there were any royal jewels among Diana’s effects, Her Majesty wanted them returned to the Royal Family immediately.” Also very suspiciously, the camera’s recording the underpass at Pont de l’Alma, exactly where the accident occurred, weren’t working the morning of the accident, so nobody knows what really went on. Chillingly, even 20 years later, it is hard to shake the feeling that there is more to Diana’s death than just a drunk chauffeur.

The pregnancy with Beyoncé was a big deal and I think if anyone were as famous as Beyoncé they wouldn’t want to actually have a baby anyways. It all starts with when she revealed her pregnancy at the VMA’s. At the end of the song she unbuttons her jacket and rubs her stomach indicating that she is having a baby. BUT THEN there was not a hint of any sort of baby bump in the music video for her song ‘party’; which was shot earlier that month of the reveal. A week after the VMA’s she was photographed in a bikini and her bump look smaller than what it was at the VMA’s. THEN IT GETS BETTER Beyonce appears on an Australian talk show and as she sits down her baby bump deflates and almost becomes what looks like a flab. When this became popular on social media B responds with “that was the fabric that folded, does fabric not fold? Oh my god.” If you were famous would you fake a pregnancy?

Unleash Your Inner Child Movies

self and her strengths along the way. Now that we’ve talked about my favorite disney princess movies let’s get into the real stuff.

By: Kayla Buckner

Finding Nemo: This Disney movie takes you on an adventure through the sea. Marlin son (Nemo) gets captured by humans and is taken for away from their home land. While marlin is franklingly looking for his son he bumps into Dory who has short term memory lost but agrees to help Marlin find Nemo. Throughout the movie Marlin meets several people who help him locate his son and meets a few obstacles along the way.

No matter what age I’ve found that everyone loves disney movies. I decided to tell you my top ten. Maybe you’ll see your favorite among mine. Moana: Moana is a story about a teenage girl who wants to be in the ocean btu her parents won’t allow her. When things start to go wrong she makes it her mission to solve it all. Taking her (not very smart) chicken, Hayhay along with her. She finds the man who fault for all their problems is in his hands. They take an adventure across the ocean in hope to find peace for their people.

Big Hero Six: A boy named Hiro has a lot on his plate. His brother throws himself into a fiery building to save his teacher when the building explodes. Hiro is devastated but takes his brothers genius robot whose main purpose is to help people and his friends and turn them into somewhat superheroes to fight against the opposing forces that help take his brother’s life and threaten average citizens. Inside out: Have you ever wondered about how your feelings work? Inside out gives you a rather childlike look on how our emotion work. In the movie the storyline follows a girl dealing with puberty and taking a big move. Trying to re adjust; the emotions are completely out of whack and trying to find their way back to normal routine.

Frozen: Frozen is a about two sisters who lose their parents to a storm. One of them has special powers that she hides and ‘conceals’ from the outside world. The girls have been locked in their castle for several years and when it comes time for the older sister (Elsa) to become queen, everything falls apart. Anna think she falls in love with a prince over night and Elsa runs of after accidentally showing her powers. The movie is all about showing what true love really is and what if that’s not with a prince and princess and their happily ever after.

WALL-E: WALL-E is a robot who was left on earth after the humans evacuated. The earth is now like a huge garbage landfill and it is WALL-E’s job to clean it up. WALL-E meets another robot that he becomes interested in. The movie is like a stab in the chest to show the reality of how earth may or may not end up as. Showing truth to the humans.

Beauty in the Beast: A beautiful story that shows that beauty is not defined on what’s on the outside. Once upon a time their was a prince who thought he was the real deal but then a witch comes along and turns him into a beast. The only way he can be saved from being forever a beast is finding true love. That’s when bell comes around and the beast slowly becomes not a beast anymore.

The lion King: this movie about the animal kingdom will both make you laugh and shed a few tears. SImba is a young lion who loves his best friend and is annoyed by his watcher bird Zazu. When his uncle Scar makes a sharp twist and his father ends up dead, Simba runs away thinking it was all his fault. He runs pumbaa and Timon who tells him he should have ‘no more worries for the rest of his days’. Take a look at Simba’s adventures and where will he end up?

Princess and the Frog: Tiana is a hard working girl who’s dream is to own her own restaurant. She saves every ounce of money she receives from working as a waitress to buy a place of her own to turn into an amazing restaurant owner. When ends began to not meet she turns to wishing on a star to send her help when a frog shows up. Her best friend had told her about how frogs turn into princes’ so she tried it out and well she became a frog. Reading Hacks Some of you have a hard time reading or finding time

to read. Reading has shown to benefited us in many ways, from reducing stress to improving vocabulary and general knowledge. Here are some tips and tricks into to reading and how to make it more enjoyable for you. Like I said early it’s hard to find time to read a book. Try taking a book with you on your next car ride. If you get car sick easily you can try picking a certain amount of pages a day or taking 10- 15 mins out of your day wither it’s in the morning before school starts or before you go to bed. Reading calms you down and reduces stress which is a perfect way to wind down for sleep. Taking a little time to read a day adds up and soon enough you will have read a whole book. Also bring a book with you everywhere you go. If you have some free time sand no one is snapchatting you back pull out your book or start reading. If you are athletic you could even try reading after you have worked out or gone to a game/tournament/match (whatever it may be). Studies have proven that if you read after being active that neurotransmitters, which help you focus, are more balanced and helps you remember new information. Some of you need to be comfortable to read. My suggestion is to find a designated reading spot. Find a place in your house and bring some pillows and blankets and get cozy before you start to read. If you can’t find a good place at home try the library, coffee shop, and bakery or even reading with some headphones on playing soft music. Not only will the music help you zone out of un-calming noises but can simulate your brain to focus on the events happening in your book. When you hear the songs later on you will remember what you read. You can even grab yourself a cup of tea or coffee. This will get you a little more excited to read. You can even throw in some snacks so you want be worried about getting up and trying to find food, which will in depth distract you from reading. Have you ever thought to yourself “I just can’t get into any books” I have a solution for you. Think back to when you read a book and just couldn’t put the book down. Once you’ve thought of the book go into your search book and look for books similar to that book. Most likely you’ll be interested into those books. If that doesn’t work try looking at other books that the author of the book wrote. If all else fails try to find a book that you relate to. This will get you more intrigued into your book and keep your

focus. If you are one of those people who like to keep track of the books they read or like to challenge yourself I urge you to go check out Goodreads. This is a website that allows you to set goals of how many books you want to read in a year and lets you track what books you like to read. The site also lets you make a wish list of books you like. Another cool feature of this site is you can look up quotes from famous authors and from their books either by looking up their name, book title, genre or a specific topic you want a quote on. Each book presented on good reads shows you the summary of the books and the ratings. The sight also introduces books that are similar to the ones you’ve read before which will help you find books that you will want to pick up. I mentioned early to use music as a unwanted noise blocker or a focus mechanism. Try making a playlist for reading. Look up songs that will help calm you and help you focus. Try to stay away from too much rock or scream, try some classics or indie acoustics. This will give you the full effect of helpful reading music. A lot of you might find it embarrassing to bring out a book. Although it can be kind of awkward and well seems a little old fashioned especially when there are several sites and apps that can allow you to read online/eBook and even audio books. Some of those sites are, Kindle, Google books, Wattpad, Audible, Nook, Goodreads, etc: Which you can download on your phone or any other device. You can say goodbye to those heavy, space taking books and just pull out your phone whenever you get a chance. Stop making excuses. Get yourself completely ready to start reading. Have your headphones with you for if your area is too loud or you read better with them in. If you are reading a hard back book then put your phone away. Anything that makes you distracted put it away or you can do it before you read that way you won’t be tempted to do it while reading. If you are reading online a good website to help you stay focused is keepmeout. com. This site well, keeps you out of websites that might distract you when you are trying to read. You give it the amount of time to keep you out of the sites. I found this very useful for websites like Facebook and YouTube. One thing I can’t live without when reading a book is a highlighter. When I find something that truly interest be in the book I highlight it and save it as a quote. This way when I want to show my friends and family what I had read about or maybe I have a book report coming up I can go straight to the things that I felt needed the most attention. I understand that sometimes we don’t own the book but you can always use a sticky note to mark the place or even write the quote on. I hope that some of these tips and tricks will help you become a better reader. Reading can always be a place to escape into somewhere new and give you knew ideas and help you find out more about yourself. So when you get the chance pick up a book and enjoy.
