Spring Fashion What You Should Be Doing This Season

just wear this color on Wednesdays, ladies.

• Trench coats aren’t exactly cheap, but they are a great investment and don’t ever go out of style. Make sure the material of it is water resistant otherwise you won’t get very much use out of it in the months of spring.

• Black and gold watches are timeless and versatile. • The decade to follow this time? The 60’s! • On lazy days where we don’t have school and you don’t feel like washing your hair, throw on a hat and curl the ends of your hair. No one will ever know…

• Bright pumps are color chic this spring! If you’re into heels make sure you get a pair and put them with a colorful skirt • Layering necklaces has always been a popular trend, but it’s a can’t miss this year.

• In the spring, wear scarves while you can because you probably won’t want to in the summer.

• Black and white is timeless and always in. Spring brings it through stripes and cool graphic patterns. • Printed dresses will easily be worn in the spring and can be used in the summer as well.

• Play with stripes and mix them with

Mary Aquino and Andrea Studer

• Cross-body boxy bags in just about any color should be used to tote your money and anything else you carry. • Wear some statement sunglasses to protect your eyes when you’re out in the sun. • If you can pull off pointy flats, by all means more power to you! • Tiffany blue is still making appearances, and almost too many. Don’t be basic when it comes to colors. I encourage you to wear Tiffany blue but put your own spin on it and don’t be basic. • Chunky heels look good with skinny jeans in the style of sandals or even pumps. • Did you know it’s a fact that when you wear pink, people are nicer to you? Don’t

• As often as this has been said, it’s hard for me to understand why it’s still happening… UGGs or any kind of boots should never be paired with shorts. It makes any outfit look trashy and not put together. • Just because it’s a trend doesn’t mean it works for everyone. Example, pointy flats are adorable! But some people just don’t have the feet for them! • Don’t go overboard with the new sporty trend, you can easily look like you’re actually going to go play ball. • Don’t fall for the myth that all stripes make you look bigger, a lot of the time they can be very slimming. • When you wear those cute floral prints don’t go overboard with accessories, less is better. • The oversize trend is so cute and comfy, but don’t let it swallow you whole! • There’s a fine line between grungy chic and looking homeless. The 90’s might be coming back, but you don’t have to go gung-ho with this trend. • Is your name Daisy Duke? No? Then don’t knot your shirt so high that we can see your entire midriff.

other prints. • Wear a ribbon in your hair to make your pony tail look less like a lazy day.

• You know what’s ok to do? Not tell your friends where you got certain pieces. Some things should just remain a mystery.

Don’t Do It Being as into fashion as I am, it’s hard for me to walk by anyone and not think about things I could change about other people’s outfits to make them better. Sometimes even my own when I look in a mirror at school. We all have our off days but hopefully these tips will keep those from happening in the halls.

• Don’t go all biker chick unless you’re actually a biker. Add some girly details. • The M-slit style personally reminds me of Tarzan, check out the thigh-high cutouts for yourself. It could be the next mullet dress. • Swim suit cover ups should be worn only to the pull and on the beach. Not in public.

Teens of Decades Past It’s obvious that teens have been changing over the decades. Teens back in the 1900’s would never dress, act, or have the opportunities like the teens of today. So that brings a question to mind. What were teens like throughout the decades? To find out, let’s go back in time and work our way up to today!

streets and were responsible for the majority of criminal acts committed. In the 40’s World War II was beginning and teen boys were once again sent off to war. Teenaged girls began to work in factories to help production for the war but also to help with financial standings with their families since the brothers and fathers were at war. The teens that stayed home from war often collected rubber, cans, and newspapers for money, stamps, and war bonds. The clothes became even simpler than before in these hard times. Boys were often seen wearing zoot suits.

In the 1900’s, the group now known as “teenagers” did not exist. There was never really a gap between childhood and adulthood. Many kids in their teen years were forced to grow up fast. This age group obeyed their parents, did what they were told to do, and abided by the rules. Girls wore corsets and long, floorlength dresses and boys wore sailor suits The 50’s brought a drastic or jackets and knee pants. change for the teens in this decade. boppers” gave a sense of hope to those unemployed. Teenagers became fond of going to the disco. They dressed in a lot of denim and a very unisex style accompanied by large boots and platform shoes. Also a hit was the “punk” look, which entailed lots and lots of glitter. The 80’s would make teens feel more like adults with their new hangouts and habits. Teens would be found at night clubs and cocktail clubs listening and breakdancing to dance, hip-hop, or rap. The “Madonna Era” had begun in this decade mixing a masculine and feminine look into one. Although the unisex and punk looks were still “in”, designer labels and sportswear were also largely seen among the crowds. Teens were obsessed with fitness and health. Many enrolled into workout classes and joined gyms. Even with this new health kick, many teens developed major drug problems. The year of the Millennium! Teens of the 90’s would be the last in the 1900’s and the first in the 2000’s. There was an irrational fear of Y2K, much like the recent fear of 2012. Teens of this time were being introduced to the internet, digital cameras, CD’s, and DVD players. Teen pregnancies became a growing problem in the high schools and dropout rates increased. As far as style goes, most teens dressed casually and in new modified versions of past styles. A large emphasis was put on looking trendier in the later 90’s. The 1900’s showed the most change in society, style, and views, all of which have influenced and shaped today. Teens of today tend to receive more lenience than in the past and receive less discipline. Many teens have jobs and drive as soon as they become of age since it is easy for teens to get the resources to do both. Styles from the 80’s and 90’s have been making a comeback in the recent years. Teens have been dying their hair crazy, unnatural colors and getting multiple piercing and tattoos all to “express themselves”.

viral videos With today’s technology, anything posted on the internet has the capability of spreading like wildfire. The most commonly spread things are pictures, web stories, and videos. Many videos go viral over YouTube and other popular media sites. Let’s take a look at a few videos that went viral in the past year via YouTube, starting with a music sensation! Austin Criswell is a name that if you aren’t familiar with him, then you should be! Austin has been a YouTube member since 2008 and you can find him under the name ACMusic7. He sings all genres of music and does fantastic covers of all the songs you are all familiar with, usually by request from others. He even writes and sings his own songs. You can watch his videos singing anywhere from “Yellow” by Coldplay to “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles. ACMusic7 does not have the stereotypical singer look, but don’t let that fool you! Just like Simon Cowell first laughed at and joked about Susan Boyle, you might not believe he will sound just like he does. He is currently trying to record an album and has the potential to be very successful in a music career. When you get the chance, be sure you go and check out his page and listen to a few of his songs! Also musical, The Piano Guys have put a new twist on performing songs. On YouTube as The Piano Guys, this group uses cellos, pianos, and other stringed instruments to perform catchy tunes. One of their most popular videos is “Cello Wars”, a spoof off of Star Wars. The Piano Guys dual using their cellos while creating a very interesting set up that you haven’t seen before. Don’t get the idea

that only musical people or “band nerds” would watch The Piano Guys because they also do covers such as “Begin Again” by Taylor Swift, “Mission Impossible” from the Mission Impossible movie, “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis, and many, many more! Also, if you can’t seem to get enough of The Piano Guys, you can find their songs on Amazon, iTunes, and Spotify.

video of the two British babies went viral over five years ago and is STILL a hit! Something about a little toddler sticking his finger into his teething brother, Charlie’s, mouth just cracks people up. And really, who can say they didn’t crack a smile after the little boy laughs and continues to announce that “Charlie bit his finger”? The video has been posted, and reposted, and posted again and still getting millions of hits. Admit it, right now the famous five words are running through your head in a little British accent… “Ouch Charlie, that really hurt!” Although this last viral sensation is a television show, it is such a mustsee that people will go to YouTube just to watch the scenes over and over again! So what is the all the talk about? Nothing other than Steve-O’s “Killer Karaoke”. Steve-O is notorious for his ridiculous stunts he has pulled on national television and MTV productions. Now, he has concocted a way to spread his love for ridiculous actions with the people of America. Contestants go on the show not knowing what crazy stunt they will be asked to perform. Whatever task they are given, they must accomplish while singing their karaoke song. Doesn’t sound too terribly hard right? Just watch Killer Karaoke on TruTV or YouTube and you will understand what is so killer about this usually fun activity…

Gangnam S t y l e by PSY went viral overnight it seemed. YouTube, iTunes, any other music or music video sight had it listed as their top song for months! The radio stations across the nation were either playing it or receiving requests to play it next. The Korean pop hit was being played everywhere! The noted dances in the music video were being danced (or trying to be danced) by kids, adults, and teens everywhere. It was such a catchy hit that our own Reeds Spring Wolf Pride Band would warm up to the song nearly every morning before beginning their marching fundamentals and field drill. Although nobody really knew what was being said That is, if you don’t fall off your seat from in the song, you can bet everyone tried to laughing so hard! sing along with it. st. patrick’s day St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th,

has become one of the biggest holidays in Ireland and they celebrate it with a bang. Most people get together in big groups with friends and family and gather at whatever pub is closest to their home and have a great time. They are many local traditions in the different parts of Ireland and each city has its own festivities, but St. Patrick’s Day is the day all those tricolors get to celebrate together. We celebrate here as well, but it has more meaning for the Irish. The history of St. Patrick’s Day starts of course with St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. He was born in Britain, which was at the time was under Britain’s control. He was originally kidnapped and brought to Ireland and forced into slavery. Although he escaped, he eventually returned to Ireland and is given credit for bringing Christianity along with him. His most famous idea was his explanation of the Holy Trinity- the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit- using a shamrock. Even after his death on March 17th, 461, his beliefs had been so engrained into the Irish culture they still stand today. They started celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland sometime in the ninth or tenth century. However, the first parade to celebrate this Irish holiday took place in the United States. It started March 17, 1762 while Irish soldiers from the British army were marching through New York City. They played music and turned their march into a parade through the city. In 1848, some of the Irish societies in New York City turned their parades into one massive show and made it an official event. Today, more than three million people come to watch the one and a half mile parade line that lasts for over 5 hours. Other cities including Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia also have smaller celebrations. This year marks the 251stNew York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It’s the largest and oldest parade in the United States, not just including St. Patrick’s Day parades, but all others in the US as well. In the same fashion as the parade in Ireland, The parade in New York City

is looked over by Eminence Cardinal Edward Eagan, Archbishop of New York from the steps of the St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Avenue. It lasts from 11 a.m. to around 4:30 or 5 p.m. The parade moves up Fifth Avenue and 50th Street all the way up to 86th street. People in Ireland are real sticklers for St. Patrick’s Day traditions. In fact, the entire country is full of them, whether you’re from Northern Ireland or The Republic of Ireland. For instance, while we may joke about wearing green so that we don’t get poked, wearing green in either part of Ireland is actually a big deal on just this one day. Any other day, wearing green is like wearing any other color, but on St. Patrick’s Day, you better believe that any true Irishman- or woman is wearing their home color. Wearing green is one of the traditions that we have adopted in the US and has become very popular for those who choose to celebrate. Fun fact that you may not have known: the official color of St. Patrick’s Day used to be blue, but changed because green is the color on the Irish flag. Another Irish tradition is eating colcannon- a mixture of mashed potatoes and cabbage- in honor of two of their most popular foods. Here in America, a lot of families celebrate with corned beef and cabbage which is our twist on their colcannon. There are obviously variations in recipes and preparation, but the idea is the same and has become a staple at all St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

In Ireland, they enjoy playing their traditional music during celebrations, parades, and even their little family gettogethers. Most stories involving the Irish culture are passed down through song and dance, so the Irish take great pride in this aspect of their lives. Their music is made using bagpipes, fiddles, framedrums, and flutes. It has its own sound that is hard to describe because it’s so different than ours. Since the sound is so distinct, it’s very easy to distinguish from other styles. On St. Patrick’s Day, they play the more old-fashioned version of their music during parades, at the local, and in their homes as a way to show their pride in their country. While we as Americans celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in our own fashion, the Irish take it very seriously and celebrate as if it was their last. From going to parades, visiting the local, and celebrating at home with family, Irish citizens spend the day celebrating and having a good time to

honor the man who brought religion into their country. When you think about Irish people, what do you think of? Red hair and green clothes? Short, angry leprechauns? Well, that’s not exactly accurate. Sure there is bound to be some short people, some people with ginger hair, and they do get a little angry, but you certainly won’t find any leprechauns and it’s a bit of a stretch to find anyone who fits all three stereotypical descriptions at once. Irish people actually don’t look all that different than we do; they just talk a little differently and have different customs. If you really think about it, their accents are actually really fun to listen to and their behavior can be pretty amusing too. Since its IrishAmerican History month, it’s a perfect time to clear up some of those stereotypes and show what the Irish are really like. Even though Ireland is technically split into two different countries, The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (which is part of the United Kingdom), the culture of the Irish people is very similar. They love their music, dance, food, and are quite the sticklers for tradition. They will use anything they can as an excuse to party and their celebrations are normally centered around food and “the local”, which is whatever pub is closest to their

Speaking of “football”, it’s one of the most important sports in Ireland and they take it very seriously. They participate in many of the same sports that we do, but the Irish take football, rugby, and boxing the most seriously. They have some of the most competitive teams in the world. In football, they play in the Irish Premiership League, with twelve competitive teams. They also compete in the League of Ireland Premier with twelve teams as well. In Rugby, they are in the All-Ireland League, which is split into two divisions, A and B. They compete with the other teams in their division as well as teams from other countries and the teams are considered some of the fiercest competitors. To begin, I thought I would get a parents point of view about our Wolves. I asked Mr. Locke, Johnathon Locke’s dad and very involved parent, a couple questions. Below is our interview: How did baseball go for the Wolves last year? Last year they had a really good season. We went to the district championship but we lost in the 12thinning. We went 5 extra innings. We battled. It was a knock-down drag out. How do you think this year will be different from last year? getting ready for prom Prom is something every girl dreams about from the moment she sees her first pair of heels. This is the night to let your fairy-tale dreams come true. Here are some tips to keep your ride from turning into a pumpkin and losing one of your shoes. Picking out your dress and finding a date are your main priorities. A dress that fits and matches your dreams is harder than you think to find. It should match your personality as well. For example, if you’re into sparkles go glamorous, and if you like simple then don’t go all out. Wear what you want to and don’t let your friends convince you to go out of your comfort zone because you’ll regret it that night. When you finally find one, alterations often need to be made to keep it from falling or from you tripping over the hemline. Make appointments as soon as possible, the good hairstylists will end up being booked fast. Often the hairstylists are happy to do make up as well, but double check to make sure because if not you’ll need to find either a friend or another place to get it done. Nails aren’t necessarily a must, but they do look good and add a little something to your ensemble. Shoes though, are an essential, no matter what type of shoe you go with make sure it matches and doesn’t take away from your dress. You cannot forget about the tuxedo either. Even though you’re not wearing it you should offer to help your date find a tux so that you can match with a vest and tie. If you’re going with a group of people and

decide to rent some kind of transportation, make sure you reserve it early and split the cost evenly. Plan ahead and decide what you’re going to do after prom. IHop is always popular for many, along with laser tagging and mini golf. Tell your parents what you’re doing and where you’ll be staying that night in case of an emergency. Also, don’t forget to charge up your phone and camera! Bringing a phone charger as backup is always a good idea. Have fun at prom! Be responsible, and don’t take everything seriously. It’s only one night so spend it with your close friends. You’ll regret letting any drama get in between your plans for the night. Take pictures with everyone as well!

choosing a majjor Decisions are hard to make, especially when determining what career you will pursue for the rest of your life. Instead of just choosing any major in college, give it some more thought. There are several things to keep in mind when choosing a major in college. Obviously choosing something you’re interested in is very important. If you don’t like what you’re studying, you won’t want to finish college. After all, there’s no one forcing you to go.

I would reconsider skipping out on college and settling for a minimum wage job, landing you only $14,664 a year here in Missouri. Going to college for even a couple years will allow you to qualify for a job that will pay you much more than $7.00 an hour. With more money, bills will be paid without hassle and you might even get some extra spending money.

This includes History teachers, museum curator, and

on our list at No. 6. They can earn a beginning salary of $30,000 and have an unemployment rate of 9.2%. Music majors could go on to be instrumentalists, vocalists, or producers. I wouldn’t count on becoming famous; those odds are about 1 in 200,000 people. No. 5 is Liberal Arts majors. This can include those of you wanting to become social workers, sociologists, and interpreters. They make a beginning salary of $30,000 and have an unemployment rate of 9.2%. No. 4 is Philosophy and Religious Studies. Although becoming a humanitarian or a youth pastor might be fun, you would only be earning $30,000 a year and there would be an unemployment rate of 10.8% for careers of this kind. Fine Art is a wonderful topic to study, but it does land itself at No. 3 on our list of least successful majors. Artists, art instructors and designers earn an average of $30,000 and have an unemployment rate of 12.6%.

Many college students decide to change their major when they’ve only had half the schooling. They suddenly realize they want to chase a different career. Here are tips on how to avoid wasting time and money by making the right decision to begin with.

All majors are not equal. Depending on what you choose to study, it might be harder or easier to find a job after college. This all depends on the unemployment rate, which as we all know, is increasing because we are in a recession. As the economy gets worse, the demand for the “soft” and non-technical careers like artists and musicians decreases. The collapse of the housing market means architecture majors now face an unemployment rate of 13.9%. That is the highest

women on the frontline Women have long fought for equality; whether it is for the work place, financials or even now the right to participate in combat on the front line. In 1919 the 19thamendment stating that, “the rights of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex,” was passed by both houses of Congress. It was then sent to the states to be ratified and on August 18th 1920 Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the amendment. Eight days later the amendment took effect. This was a monumental step towards equal rights for women. And now, almost 100 years later we are facing another issue with equality for women. After the Pentagon removed the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” ban on gays and lesbians in the military in 2011 we are now seeing a change in the way people think and the standards people consider acceptable. Fifty years ago it is almost guaranteed no one would have ever thought women would serve on the front line in combat. Now today we realize the times are changing and women are more capable of protecting our country than ever given credit for. According to U.S. Officials the initiative was taken on by U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. The military will have until May 15th of this year to provide a plan that shows how they will comply with change by 2016. In a few developed countries such a Canada and Israel, women are already allowed to serve in combat. However in 2010 Britain ruled they would not move forward with women combat roles and will continue to exclude them from doing so.

Yet even though so few coun-

tries are taking this step, there are quite a few people who approve. The American Civil Liberties Union applauded this move as well as outgoing head of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Democratic Senator Patty Murray from Washington, and Democratic Senator Carl Levin of Michigan, the head of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Since the decision to broaden combat roles for women, it adds to Panetta’s legacy. Panetta also pushed for the end of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

man? Believe it or not, men are raised to be chivalrous, which could pose a problem if they had to decide which life to save. However, modern day shows us that men are becoming more accustomed to women being seen more as their equals rather than their frilly counterpart. As our culture moves forward and advances in other aspects, it also needs to grow in equality for all ends of the spectrum.

According to a study conducted by LA Times 66% of people voted that women should be allowed to fight on the front lines while only 34% voted against it. There were, however, concerns about whether some women were capable of doing so. To me it is not whether a woman is physically and emotionally able to act in combat, but rather having the option do so. Women on active duty have agreed. Marine Capt. Zoe Bedell left duty a year ago stating that the exclusion of women fighting on front line ground combat had limited her potential for promotion. Not to mention women are already around battle So why do people continue to grounds with their current positions in believe women are not capable or should their respective branches. not be allowed to place themselves in more perilous roles if they wish? The baking beauty If you live in the Reeds Spring area, you have probably seen, or even tasted her incredible work. Since her childhood, she has loved the art of baking. Who knew this love and natural talent would develop into what it is today. Who is it you’re asking? It’s Bonnie Row, our very own dessert cuisine queen! Bonnie discovered

Bonnie’s cakes are truly a work of art, from the interesting and complex themes to her beautiful fondant designs. Bonnie is very creative and loves to try new things. Because of this, she is able to mold her ideas and create one of a kind desserts. Her favorite dessert to make is cheesecake, and it shows. I will always remember the rainbow cheesecake she made. While the outside looked like any other cheesecake, when it was cut into, you could see rainbow colors. The cake was so appealing to eye, and a great surprise. I asked Bonnie if she ever gets sick of people asking her to make them things. Bonnie responded, “No, I love to bake and I am always more than happy to make desserts for everyone! I get so excited for new ideas and to make new creations. It is challenging to work on new creations and very fulfilling when I create them. Who needs Starbucks when we will have Bonnie’s bakery and bistro to enjoy? In addition to owning her own business, Bonnie plans on having a family. She wants to be a good role model for her children and wants them to grow up with a warm, familial bond that endures through the future. When Bonnie isn’t in the kitchen, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and going on coffee dates and shopping at thrift stores. Her friends and family are behind her dream 100 percent. In fact, for Christmas, her boyfriend Brian Blankenship bought her a freezer to store her cake materials. She also takes pride in her youth group at church and participating in their many events. For the past fifteen years, Bonnie has also been a part of Kimberling Center Dance Center where she takes tap classes as well as being an assistant instructor. So if you want to enjoy one of Bonnie’s wonderful cakes, all you have to do is

ask her! Her costs are very reasonable. For a normal birthday cake she charges $35 to $40. Many other places charge 50$ to $100. You can contact her at bonniescustomcakerie@ gmail.com or at (417) 699-2823. So next time you need a cake, Bonnie would be perfect for the job!

weird tattoos Have you ever see a person with a weird tattoo and wonder why on earth they got that? I’m big on tattoos myself, but some people aren’t. Just remember that tattoos are permanent, but if you want one you should go for it! Get one that has a purpose and meaning don’t choose one just because you’re bored and you have money. Also, placement is key. Having a tattoo that shows can make or break a job for you so just be aware of that when getting one. Right here I have a few of the weirdest, school appropriate tattoos. Beware though! Some of them are really gross.

recipes Let’s face it; we’re all students with no time to spare and on a budget! Even so, we all still have to eat. Especially with spring rolling around, tourism is picking up, work places are reopening, and spring sports are just beginning leaving hardly any time left for you to spend making some gourmet meal you don’t have time for. With that being said, let’s get cooking! Breakfast Banana Bonanza Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! It’s ok to spend a little time on this meal even if it means maybe only spending extra time on it on the weekends or on Late-Start Thursdays. This meal takes an hour to bake, but the outcome is more than worth it, so let’s go bananas! Ingredients: Two ripe bananas (if there brown, then it’s best!) 170g caster sugar 170g flour 170g soft margarine 3 eggs 2 caps of vanilla extract Directions: 1) Preheat the oven to 320°. 2) Mash the two brown bananas in a bowl. 3) Sieve the flour into a separate bowl. 4) In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until they are light and fluffy. 5) Beat the eggs together, also separately. 6) Put all of the mixtures into the bowl with the flour in and follow by whisking together. 7) Add the vanilla extract to the new mixture. 8) Bake in the oven for an hour. Beefy Taco Joes Lunch is every teen’s favorite meal, whether it is the most important meal of the day or not. Debating between Mexican and American today? Have them both! tequila’s review

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, Tequila’s is the place for you! Along with reasonable prices and attentive waiters, the food is out of this world! As soon as you walk through the doors, an array of delicious smells fills your nose. There’s anything from chimichangas and tamales, to the oh- so popular special de la casa, or “special of the house.” This is grilled chicken on a bed of rice, smothered in their signature cheese sauce. If Mexican food isn’t really your thing, then they also offer a variety of American favorites, such as chicken strips or cheese burgers! As well as having a variety of food, it is also great quality! Tequila’s prices are decent all the time, but if you arrive early enough, you can choose from their lunch specials, which are even cheaper! Plus, you get a lot of food for your money! As soon as you are seated, they bring you delicious chips and salsa. Just be sure not to fill up before you main course arrives! The portions are so big, that if you eat too many chips, you won’t be able to finish your entire entree! If one thing is for sure, you will not leave still hungry! Tequila’s is a favorite for students before sporting events, or other activities. Mainly because it’s so close to the high school! It is located right next to Pizza by the Chef in the same parking lot as Country Mart in

Branson West. Not only is it super close, the service is speedy quick, so it won’t take long to get your food if you’re in a hurry to get back for the big game! If you happen to be in Branson for some reason, but you still have the craving for Tequila’s cuisine, don’t fret! There is the newly opened Tequila’s two, right before Branson Meadows in a small shopping center. It offers everything the original restaurant does, plus it’s a little bigger! With two opportunities to get delicious Mexican food, you should never miss out! Tequila’s is also a great place to enjoy a family meal! It is a friendly smoke-free environment that everyone can feel comfortable in. It is decorated from floor to ceiling in authentic Mexican style, and festive music fills every square

taylor byler inch. If you come on Friday or Saturday nights, you can go downstairs and enjoy the musical styling of RC “Happy” Hopper. The bar is downstairs, so if you are not into that, the upstairs is just a restaurant! Not only is the environment family friendly, it is immaculately cleaned. You do not have to worry about sitting at a dirty booth, or walking over a crumby floor, because the staff is very good at keeping up on it! As soon as one table leaves, they quickly bus and wash it to prepare for the next guests. They also do a great job on keeping up with the bathrooms. You won’t have to cringe at the thought of going in public! If you are looking to get in quickly, I would not go during the lunch rush on Sundays! Everyone and their mother are at Tequila’s because it is basically the only “sit down” restaurant open on Sunday’s. Which is a plus, if you’re looking for a good place to go after church! Just make sure you get there quick, so you don’t have to wait very long. Whether you are looking for a quick meal or a sit down family dinner, Tequilas is the place for you! With delicious food, decent prices, and hearty portions, this Mexican restaurant is sure to please! Next time you are looking for food, be sure to check it out!

meet the staff Hi, I’m James McFerron and I am a thirteen year senior at Reeds Spring High School. I play two sports each year which are football and baseball. I also participate in the video production class in school so you can see me every Friday on the Friday show. I am also a reporter for the Pulse magazine where I mostly write about videogames and movies. Other than that my hobbies are eating a lot of food, playing lots of video games, and sleeping a lot as well. I will miss being here at Reeds Spring after I graduate because I have had so many good memories here with my friends and teachers. I plan on either moving down to Florida or up to Missouri State for college. So, that’s basically who I am in a nutshell. I hope to see all you guys in the hallways soon. Hi, my name is Joey Longstreet and you have probably seen me if you have gone to a sporting event. My grade point average is I believe a 3.9 and I play football, basketball and baseball. Out of those three sports my favorite is probably basketball because it is the most fast pace and the other two are kind of slow. My personality is pretty laid back. I am not a very intense person until game time. I really enjoy a good laugh and just really like comedy or humor. Hello, my name is Sabrina Duran. I am a junior here at RSHS. I contribute to the Pulse Magazine by writing a wide range of articles each month. In addition to writing, I am also one of the photographers. I’m the one who puts photos

of students in the Photo Journal section. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. While I was there, I attended Denver School of the Arts and majored in Visual Arts. I studied a variety of art forms and prepared myself for college opportunities. I plan on attending OTC for Graphic Design and Marketing as well. I hope to be an established and successful graphic artist before I settle down with a family. Art has been a big influence in my life as well as music. I’ve been playing guitar for six years now and have been creating art for as long as I can remember.

In addition to dancing I like to watch old movies such as The Sound of Music and The Quiet Man. That’s me I a nutshell! My name is Tyler Miller and I’m a senior here at Reeds. final thought

It’s that time of year again kids. Not only for seniors but for all students in general. After spring break school seems to creep by for some and for others it moves at lightning speed. We’re so close to summer, but at the same time so far away. We all want snow days but don’t want to have to deal with the consequences of attending school longer than needed either. Seniors usually have a little bit of a different outlook on snow days. To us it doesn’t matter as much because traditionally snow make up days get added on to the end of the year and seniors still have the luxury of finishing school earlier than everyone else. Some of the underclassmen may be asking what exactly is Senioritis? Well according to Urban Dictionary, Senioritis is a noun. A crippling disease that strikes high school seniors. Symptoms include: laziness, an over-excessive wearing of track pants, old athletic shorts, and sweatshirts. Also features a lack of studying, repeated absences and a generally dismissive attitude. The only cure is a phenomenon known as gradu-

ation. With senioritis you could have a 10 page research paper due tomorrow but you happen to have a snow day so you don’t do it; but then on the snow day, you don’t do the paper either. Typical phrases you will hear someone with senioritis saying are, “Why didn’t you study for your math test? Oh who studies for a math test anyways. I’ve got senioritis.” Or “Hey, did you study for the English test?” “Hahaha… Nope; House was on. What about you?” “Nah, Mark came over and then we went out for Starbucks.. Didn’t have time or anything.” For some, senioritis starts at the beginning of the senior year, for others it starts the second semester. Senior year comes with great stress and great relief at the same time. Many seniors like to pull pranks or not show up to class, but many consider this a kind of right of passage. Once you graduate you go back to the bottom of the food chain, being a freshman in college but you don’t want to say that the reason you’re not prepared for your first years in college are because you slacked off in high school. So as fun

27

callie thomas

as it is to say that you’re slacking because you have senioritis, it’s not an excuse to never turn your work in. Many of you are thinking that since it’s your last year here you want to take a break, but it’s also your last year to do your best and push yourself so you’ll be completely prepared for college. So don’t give up on the year yet! You’re almost done, we’re all almost done. Summer is just around the corner; and remember, be ready.
