REFLECTING UPON 2017 As MLC marked its 110th anniversary in 2017, it was uplifting to celebrate the moments that have become legacies for our school. The 110 Reasons to Value MLC initiative called for community members to share their thoughts on what makes the College truly remarkable. Every reason captured MLC’s unique identity and purpose. The following examples are no exception. 7. “I value the love of learning that drives students and staff.” – Sophie Norris, staff member 11. “I value watching the next generation of scientists, strategists, IT experts, mothers, teachers, spiritual leaders ... and knowing that our world is in terrific hands.” – Simone Janney, Collegian (1990) 81. “There’s a place for everyone at MLC.” – Oxana Mamchur, Year 8 student Diverse in focus, these messages are unified by a strong sense of optimism and belonging. They show how our College Values—Integrity, Mastery, Enterprise and Justice—are palpable in the culture of life and learning at MLC. Importantly, they also show how this culture has defined the College throughout its history, creating a common—and much treasured—legacy for our community members across generations.
