Subject: I know I’m stressed…now what?

While it may not be possible to eliminate all the stressors in your life, there are plenty of ways to reduce its effects on your life! Consider these tactics to keep stress at bay:

1| Take care of your body.

 Make it a priority to exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and eat healthy, well-balanced meals.

 Next time you’re feeling stressed, take some deep breaths, stretch or meditate.

2| Talk to others.

Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling. Share your problems and how you are feeling and coping with a parent, friend, counselor, doctor, or pastor.

3| Separate work life from home life. Be intentional about leaving your work problems at work and focusing on your family and home life when you’re at home. If you work from home, this might require extra effort.

4| Take a break from the news.

It’s good to be informed, but it can be upsetting to constantly hear bad news. Consider limiting news to just a couple of times a day and disconnecting from phone, tv, and computer screens for a while.

If the feeling of your stress becomes overwhelming, consider talking to your primary care provider, a professional counselor, or a psychologist for further help.
