Root Panoramas

2022−2024

Root panorama images made using a minirhizotron camera in the subterranean environment of the forest. Printed by Danielle Phelps, from waste mount board, collected from a framer local to Clare Hewitt. The frames are made by Jamie Murray from reclaimed scaffold boards. While trees appear as individual entities above the ground, in the subterranean world they connect their roots with fungal networks to share nutrients and information.
