Book making process ephemera
Inspired by the trees circular behaviour, in which oaks produce natural materials they can consume and share, Clare Hewitt collaborated with artists Carolyn Morton, Danielle Phelps, Alice Fox, and book designer Emily Macaulay, to create a biodegradable photobook Everything in the forest is the forest, that can be shared and then returned to the environment it originated from.
Displayed here is a selection of ephemera created during the book making process. This involved originating a CMYK scale of botanical inks to pass through an inkjet printer, deriving a biodegradable screen printing ink from oak galls, making paper with mushrooms, designing book dummies, and testing the shared book distribution system.
