The Process...

Constellations

Zodiac Signs

Fascination Contextualize Create an experience An Experience in Your Fascination

The constellation + Zodiac signs • It did mean differently to different Ages eg. climate forecast to connecting the dots; what led to this evolution? • Awe - strucking the whole science is and that too centuries back ! • How people in different parts of the world follow a similar pattern ? • To relate things; find patterns; human nature

Fascination from the constellation • How we are a tiny spec in this big universe • Its a dynamic interconnected web • How humans had a need for something like predicting the future or categorizing people according to their birth • The fact that we all are basically made up of the same thing however big or insignificant we are and so we have an influence over ..

My Experience with the constellation...1 • I come from a city background, I love to see the stars in the night, [though I rarely see them in the city].I just like to lie down and look at them.

World

myself

World myself Space with stars

• Daily routine

• But when I look at the stars,

I am distanced from this world of conditionality, dependencies, always doing something and having a reason for everything. A little closer to the unknown yet impossibly far I am; Yes I try to find the stars I always see; like the 3 in 1 line and d brightest star [step In with something familiar] Once I’m done with this; I watch all of them and simply do nothing- [ don’t connect to make any objects or try to imagine a king or anything.] I like the stillness, d non – movement; after a whole day full of activities [mental n physical] [contrast] Stillness/ nothingness can be on earth too; but the fact that they are above/ beyond our understanding/ reach; there is always an unknown there, that pulls me more towards them I want to be able to recognize some more stars, but not with too much effort, not all; I can’t. I like the unexplainable sometimes; why reason everything.

My Experience with the constellation...2 familiar Non- familiar

• • • • •

Sometimes just go with the flow. I feel humans can relate themselves with the sun as they feel it; but stars are way beyond. Also if they were black in colour and visible in the daylight; I wouldn’t have felt the same as: 1. In d daytime there are more distractions [ pre-occupied] and hence less stillness 2. Also the little spurts of light/ sparkle in the dark make more impact on me.

Night- observe stars

logic

time

• So, I want to know, I want to grow;but in my view ,spurts of getaways/ no logic help in my overall growth. • Freedom from the known, towards the unknown [ not with an intent to know but just to feel the openness and know something on the way ]

What do I want people to experience? - Vision Statement Freedom from the known, towards the unknown. Why should people do this? One experiences peace of mind.

What next?

One will feel fresh and be able to focus better.

Whom do I want, to experience? Women in the phase of menopause

‘‘To make 40+ women feel good about themselves THROUGH DANCE.’’ Why Dance ? • Rhythm- very natural; there in everyone • Healing power • Body movement/ Exercise • Letting yourself loose Many women prefer singing to dance as they can do so more feasibly. Why she doesen’t dance although she feels like subconsciously ? • Inhibition • Age • Feels like she can’t remove time for herself everyday because of her schedules • body shape She will more readily Exercise.

‘‘To make 40+ women feel good about themselves THROUGH DANCE.’’ At Home

+ Intuitive; can do as and when she wants - Commitment/ regularity is less - Power of group will be less

Where does it fit in her lifestyle? • @ home • Club dance with regular activity • Go especially for it.

eg. Yoga class, kitchen, parlour, terrace, Kitty parties, departmental store Mix with chores Exercise; Cooking; Household

Individual

Can dance whenever she feels like

What will increse her probability of dancing? comfortable, encouraging crowd sub consciously dances with a family member

she herself initiates and sustains it largely

convenience [time/ space/ people / schedule]

When do they lose their inhibition ? With comfortable crowd [more with friends]

Know the dance [ if one relates to the music] Alone Darkness

can be considered

she needs to come out of it !

When will she continue dance? Her own affirmation Family acceptance Appreciation

1. Start with tapping [as directly dancing after years of suppression might be difficult for them] OR 2. Make it compulsary ! OR 3. Dance in the name of ‘Exercise’

1.Initial concepts [exploring rhythm]: 1

Kitchen product range having the rhythmic factor added as a design criteria. [ visual and material] So she hears, sees and feels rhythm in the kitchen And hence, there is Rhythm in what she does

music player playing drum music + user’s choice flowing water sound throughout

kitchen utensils arranged in a rhythmic way by the user

1.Initial concepts [exploring rhythm]: 2

4

Move prayer wheel- like cylinder on the roads to create a rhythm

local train handles can create rhythm [ handles can be used as props to dance to a rhythm in the train provided there is space]

3

Tiles that snap to the floor and each creates a diffrent sound- so you are tapping to create music [ indirectly moving your body]

women have a habit of touching things while passing

2.Departmental Store Concept [ initiation to dance in women] Senario:

Afternoon [non-peak hours] Women’s section

Task Flow:

1. Random lights off [ to gather attention] 2. Announcement made- “women in the salwar Kameez section, join us for a 2 min move to the ‘‘ Free Space’’ [eg.] 3. Lights on [ to help them go] 4. [a semi enclosed space where music is played; an instructor shows some simple dance moves to follow] Emotional flow - Feel good. ‘‘It was a good refreshment’’ ‘‘Oh I can do this [dance]’’ After a few such initiations, she might free herself of preconcieved notions and take up to dance more openly 5. Lights in this section are off for those 2 mins 5. Go back to shopping Free space [ zone]: A semi enclosed space - people get inspired to join in at the same time; dancing women feel their privacy maintained.

Basically, making it compusory for her in small ways so that she tries it, can be at other women oriented spaces Feedback + initiates dance in her - wud they dance in a public space although enclosed ? - Where wud they keep their bags? + adds to shopping experience + USP for store
