Mind Your Mindset: “There is Nothing to it, But to Do it!”
As Miss Springville/Mapleton, I observed and spoke at selfhelp conventions where I witnessed hundreds of adults break down crying, admitting they regret not going after their dreams. These people and my personal mentors inspired me to create a 3 step plan: Visualize, Plan, & Execute. As a mentor for Big Brother Big Sister of Utah and Latinos in Action, we make actionable goals and remember the importance of protecting our dreams whenever doubt creeps in.

WHAT DOES SUCCESS MEAN TO YOU?
One of my first jobs was serving at my parent’s cafe, and I remember hiding behind shelves to avoid taking a strangers’ order. I thought “enough is enough” so I joined the Miss Springville/Mapleton competition to hopefully overcome this fear. It was completely out of my comfort zone, but now I love meeting new people! Being better than you were yesterday is success to me.
WHAT DOES SCHOLARSHIP MEAN TO YOU?
Opportunity. I have been able to study abroad at the University of Oxford because of a scholarship I received through the Miss America Organization. Crossing Abbey Road, visiting J.R.R. Tolkien’s old office, and punting with friends are memories that I will treasure forever!
