In 2016 when my grandmother was diagnosed with leukemia, she told her family that love was the most important thing in life. After acting on her words, I have come to realize that love goes beyond the mere service of others but is the creation of authentic personal relationships. Even when it is not in our comfort zones, we must be brave enough to not just serve others, but love others.

Your personal style is like the synopsis on the back of an award-winning novel, the newly released movie trailer for an expected blockbuster film, the hooking title of a top-tier magazine article. Style is meant to give the world a glimpse into your mind and character as you simply walk into a room.

WHAT DOES SERVICE MEAN TO YOU?

I have found service to be an integral part of building personal relationships. The Miss America Organization has provided young women with motivation and opportunities to impact their communities through service. However, I have found that the most powerful acts of service occur when no panelist is watching. You shouldn’t do more service to get the crown, but get the crown to do more service.
