Be the ONE to Make a Difference: GLO with Kindness
For the past eight years, I have planned and executed hundreds of events throughout the state that provide education about kindness, opportunities to practice kindness, and a space to create kind connections with others by implementing Kindness Clubs, Kindness Weeks and Kindness Committees. In 2021, I founded a non-profit organization that has impacted over 50 organizations by providing a blueprint for executing kind acts in their own communities.
WHAT DOES SCHOLARSHIP MEAN TO YOU?
I have pursued academic excellence throughout my scholastic career, which has resulted in a variety of well-funded academic, community, and MAO scholarships. Working hard at every opportunity I have been given has propelled me to gain a deep respect and love of learning. As a way to give back to my younger self and future generations, I have created multiple scholarships for high school students to reward their pursuit of excellence in community service.
WHAT DOES SERVICE MEAN TO YOU?
In 2022, I delivered shoes through the Soles4Souls organization to people in Guatemala. I got to “Be the one for the one” by washing children’s feet and fitting them with a new pair of shoes. I observed that service is kindness, and kindness is love made visible. I collected over 5,000 pairs of shoes from donors all over my state, but I washed the feet of children who received those shoes one by one.
