2023 LEGACY AWARD LORRAINE & TERRY BROWN

Recognizing the need for young women to expand their horizons in a region of the state that did not offer a scholarship pageant at the time, Lorraine and Terry Brown established the Miss Nebo/Panora maland Competition in Juab County in 2009. Lorraine served as director for eight years, sending twelve ti tleholders to represent the region in the Miss Utah Competition. Three of those titleholders were crowned Miss Utah and went on to represent the state at Miss America.

Notable accomplishments at the Miss Utah Competition include:

• Four Top 5 placements

• Seven Top 10 placements

• One Sadie Huish award

• Four preliminary talent awards

• Three preliminary swimsuit awards

• One community service award

• Three top instrumentalist awards

Lorraine was the driving force behind the creation of the Miss Nebo Organization and continues her service in preparing titleholders to compete at the state level. She and Terry also host local judges, auditors, and field directors in her home during the Miss Nebo/Panoramaland (and now Salt Creek) Competitions year after year. tinue to be felt by those involved in the organization. To date, 23 women have been awarded over $18,000 in scholarships and competition fees while being blessed with surrogate parents and mentors in Lorraine and Terry.

The Browns have only one daughter of their own, but they claim many by way of pageantry. They spend much of the winter in Mesquite, Nevada but claim residence in Nephi, Utah. Their proudest accomplishments are their immediate family: Keith, Natasha, Berit, and Gunnar Lockhart. During any given summer, they can be found at the Ute Stampede Celebration ... on many occasions with, you guessed it, a Miss Utah or Miss Utah’s Teen and their families.
