WHAT INSPIRED YOUR GOAL OF BECOMING MISS UTAH’S TEEN?

I have always had a strong desire to be a part of something greater than myself. Through this program, I feel connected to so many incredi ble people, initiatives and doors have opened up in countless ways! I have grown up watching and learning from such positive women involved with the Miss America Organization over the years and it felt like a great move forward for me, to be involved.

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE INITIATIVE?

“Find Your Fire” is all about helping teens to find their passions and purpose in life. I help teens and others to find their purpose through looking at what their Future goals are, Interests, Reasons for their desires, and how their life Experiences have impacted them. I underwent a hip surgery at 13 and I was in awe of the team of medical professionals that took care of me. I knew I wanted to help young athletes like myself in my future career. Through finding my own fire, I know how much it has helped shape who I am and who I want to become.

WHAT ARE YOU INVOLVED IN OUTSIDE OF MISS UTAH’S TEEN?

My two passions in life are dance and education. Dance has led me to my future career choice of becoming an orthopedic surgeon and is truly therapeutic for me. I love staying active and healthy, and dance is a perfect way to do that. I also love being studious! Some may call me a nerd… and I am completely okay with that!

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS. Driven, dynamic, and influential.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHERS WHO ASPIRE TO BE MISS UTAH’S TEEN?

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AREA OF COMPETITION?

Interview has become my favorite part! It is the area that I have had to put the most work towards and has given me guidance and perspective into who I want to become. It will help me as I move forward in my future goals in becoming a BYU Cougarette and eventually applying for Harvard Medical School. Being able to articulate, stand on a stage, and share pieces of who I am are life skills that will open doors for me.

You don’t need a crown and sash to make a difference. Figure out what you are passionate about and get to work! Following your passion, will lead you to your purpose. Also, don’t be afraid to be different! Be different in your standards, dreams, and desires. So much of the world is telling us how to dress, what to drink, and what mold to fit in…I believe being authentic and happy is where true confidence and leadership begins. Those are valuable assets for anyone, but prerequisite for a titleholder.
