Jackie Hunt Herrin

Miss Utah 2001

Jackie Herrin was born and raised in Lehi, Utah. After high school graduation, she entered the Miss Lehi Pageant because she thought it would be nice to have her picture taken for the program. This began an unanticipated succession of events, and much to the surprise of everyone who knew her when that first picture was taken, she went on to win the Miss Utah title in 2001. This took her to the Miss America Pageant where she placed in the top ten and won nearly $40,000 in scholarships. These scholarships were used to earn a degree in English editing at BYU.

Wearing a crown gave Jackie the opportunity to be an advocate for organ, eye, and tissue donation. Jackie spent many years speaking throughout the state and around the country about this important issue, and she received multiple national community service awards for her efforts. Beyond the previously mentioned scholarships and awards, Jackie also won a husband in all of this—Her husband, Taylor, is the son of the former Miss Utah seamstress, and they met during her Miss America fittings.

Jackie and Taylor have four children: Claire, Kyle, Grayson, and Jay. They moved to Farr West in 2020. After studying the piano with Dr. David Glen Hatch, Jackie taught students of her own for nearly twenty years. When she isn’t driving her children to and from all the places they need to go, Jackie spends time writing, sewing, building things, perfecting her Rubik’s cube skills, weaving towels and rugs on her three looms, and doing basically anything else she can come up with to avoid housework.
