Welcome to Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy, an Archdiocesan Catholic School located in Westminster, Colo. Our patron is Bl. Miguel Pro, a Mexican Jesuit priest who was sentenced on false charges and essentially executed without trial for his deep faith. As he stood before his executioners about to be killed, he blessed them, forgave them, and then stretched his arms out in imitation of the crucified Christ. His final words, “Viva Cristo Rey!” translate to “Long live Christ the King!”
Standing up for our faith despite growing challenges in the world is something we hope all of our students will practice as they grow older and grow in love with the Lord.
At Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy, our primary focus is to work with parents and the community to create an atmosphere of beauty and wonder, one that highlights the archdiocesan goals of having schools that are rooted in a Catholic Worldview.
We are committed to educating the whole child: academically, physically, socially and most importantly, spiritually.
In the summer of 2020, the Archdiocese of Denver announced the merger of St. Catherine of Siena and Holy Trinity Catholic schools into a new regional school, Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy, located on the Holy Trinity campus.
While both schools shared a long history of Catholic education, the importance of being able to provide a solid, faith-filled education to all students would better be served by merging the two schools. The archdiocese’s vision of a regional school provides a beautiful learning environment for students whose families desire a strong liberal arts education with the Catholic Worldview as the guiding belief for their children.
The founding beliefs of the school guided a transition team to create a strong mission statement which is the beacon of our school.
Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy supports and empowers parents in forming their children in beauty, goodness and Truth. Our students receive an integrated education, steeped in a Catholic Worldview, in a joy-filled and safe environment that develops the whole child and forms Disciples of Jesus Christ who think critically, reason logically, articulate clearly and live virtuously.
Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy is grateful for the continued financial support of St. Catherine of Siena and Holy Trinity parishes.
Students receive a foundational education in the Catholic faith. It is the school’s mission to guide students to understand the “Truth” of life. The school instills this message through the following areas:
Mass
The school gathers weekly to share in the “table of our Lord” at the Holy Mass. Mass time is special for all students.
Adoration
Our students participate in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament weekly.
Sacraments
Sacramental Preparation is part of our school curriculum.
- 2nd grade First Reconciliation
- 3rd grade First Eucharist and Confirmation
Student retreats
Student retreats are held at various times throughout the school year.
Prayer is integral in the Catholic Worldview of education and at Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy. Whether student- or administration-led, our school takes time to pray the prayer of Bl. Miguel Pro, the saint of the day, the Pledge of Allegiance, the school’s mission, and the student pledge.
All teachers pray with their students during various times throughout the day. Prayer is a conversation with God. It is our goal that our students are comfortable talking with God anytime or anywhere.
At Blessed Miguel Pro, service to our community and especially those who are less fortunate is part of what we do. It’s important for our students to understand that we have a responsibility to help others in need whenever we can.
Bl. Miguel Pro continues to provide a strong liberal arts curriculum for students. The Theology of the Body curriculum continues to enhance our curriculum and reinforces to students the gifts the Lord gives all.
Great books of literature are taught with our faith as the guiding force. Each discussion helps to lead students to truth and happiness. This method of teaching has been embraced by the faculty and can be seen on a daily basis.
Activities for students include robotics, athletics, art, PE, technology classes, library, student council, Latin, choir and spelling bee.
The continued building of the school culture is still a priority of the school, as we are still a relatively ‘new’ merged school. New traditions and customs are still being discovered, such as our saint research project and saint parade for All Saints Day. With a 78% Hispanic population, our school finds joy in celebrating special days including Dia de los Muertos and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Bl. Miguel Pro Catholic Academy is an archdiocesan School in Denver. Our school currently serves about 155 students in grades Preschool-8. We are a one-track school with one classroom per grade; our small class sizes help create a close, family-like community.
Our principal provides solid, faith-filled and mission-centered leadership in his/her role.
The principal serves as the school’s spiritual, educational and community leader and is responsible for exercising independent judgment in implementing various programs and functions.
