MARCH 2024 PRAYER MONTHLY

‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ 1 Thes. 5:16-18

POINTS FOR PRAYER

NIGERIA

PAMELA, MUSA & GRACIE GAIYA

The Gaiya’s are grateful to God for all His mercies throughout the past month.

Pamela has completed or handed over most of her ACTS assignments so she will now be more fully focused on her Mission Africa assignments during the next 6 months.

Continue to pray for ACTS, particularly during this time (Jan-Mar) of ‘Special Sales.’ Economically things are bad with the cost of even the most basic of food items having soared. The Lord remains faithful and true.

SAMANTHA, GODFREY, HEPHZIBAH & MELKI IBIA

Samantha asks for prayer for Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) after the loss of the National Director; Mr Gideon Chimmin. Pray that all in FCS would know God’s comfort and that God will guide the Council and management of FCS on the way forward.

Pray also for the schools work of FCS. Pray that we would be able to find volunteers who will be willing to visit the schools which we partner with.

MARK NIXON

Join Mark in thanking God for:

• The completion of the library at PACT.

• The successful visit of Caz and Paul to Nigeria last month.

• The ongoing village outreach.

• The successful use of the new equipment on evangelism campaigns.

• The return of the Provost to the college.

Join Mark in asking God:

• For strength as there is much to do and it is very hot and humid.

• That students would work hard at their studies and pay their fees. Failure to pay creates significant cashflow issues.

• The ongoing inflationary problems here. Food costs have doubled in a year and people are generally struggling and there appears to be no possible relief.

• For the health of students as there are issues with student accommodation.

GODWIN, GAIL & ANGEL EKANEM

The Ekanems praise God for his

faithfulness, provision and protection. Godwin particularly praises God for many opportunities to preach and teach God’s word in different congregations.

Pray for healing for Gail. She is still wearing a brace as the bone in her wrist has not completely healed yet. She has still to wear it for another four weeks.

Pray for the Saturday Kids’ Club, which has now been divided into two groups, which run back to back between 10:15 and 1:30. Gail is delighted to be able to address more age-appropriate topics with the smaller group of teenagers. Pray for a suitable and faithful helper for her in this growing club.

Pray for Ekaette who sits final exams in midwifery this month. Pray for Angel, Aniedi and Akaninyene.

Pray for Godwin and his team as they hold their ‘Ikot Ekpang Prays’ Monthly Outreach on 13th March.

Pray for Nigeria’s economy. It is frightening to see the costs of basic provisions rising by the day.

NIGERIA HOME ASSIGNMENT

BRIAN WILSON

Brian Wilson thanks God for the opportunity his furlough brings in terms of meeting prayer groups and other organisations. He gives thanks also for a time of refreshment, the chance to renew friendship and to seek God and His will.

Brian is grateful to God for Mission Africa’s commitment to get the library renovation completed. Pray that people will be wise so that the library will be allowed to function well on a daily basis, with or without Brian.

KATIE MORRISON

Katie appreciates prayer as she prepares to lead the Mission Africa summer team to Nigeria this summer.

Continue to pray for parents who bring their sick children to HMH. Pray that the Little Footsteps Fund would continue to be a blessing to many families, especially in this time of financial difficulties.

CHAD

DAVID, LUCY, SOPHIE & OLIVIA MORRISON

Pray for the new group of women who are now in the Ruth phase and learning to sew. Pray for one of the graduates who is teaching them.

Pray for the Acacia graduates, some have stopped attending the weekly bible study. Pray as we discern whether the need is still there and if so, what barriers need to be overcome.

Pray for the Morrisons upcoming move to the TEAM station to help with office and guesthouse responsibilities in preparation for the Nash’s leaving. Pray we would adjust well as a family and find a childcare solution for Olivia.

JEREMY & RACHEL NASH

Jeremy & Rachel are now running the guesthouse and office on their own for a few months, so please pray things run smoothly. Pray for several building and decorating projects that Jeremy is overseeing on the centre.

Pray that Jeremy would have more opportunities to train leaders to run the Love Dating and Marriage courses here in N’Djamena. Pray for the use of the course in two local churches which just received the training.

Pray for the schools ministry in Burkina Faso and for the financial resources to

complete this years‘ ministry. Just printing the certificate that each child receives needs money; although only 5p each, with 20,000 finishing the course, over £1000 is needed. There are other things we have had to reconsider due to lack of funding. Pray God provides what is needed.

KENYA

KATHRYN LINDSAY

Join Kathryn in giving thanks to God that the medics have completed their elective successfully and have been greatly encouraged. Praise God that they stayed healthy and safe and that they shared the Gospel with so many while they were here.

Please pray that Louise (short term volunteer) will continue to feel settled here and that God will continue to give her strength and endurance to complete what he has for her to do here and that more opportunities will open up for her to mentor young ladies.

Give thanks to God for a successful Galentines (Girls) Event with girls from Thirime on the 11th Feb and a successful Valentine’s edition with Kimuri Youth on 17th Feb. Please pray that what was taught and discussed at those events would continue to impact these young people.

4 girls from Thirime have signed up for mentoring. Pray that God would prepare their hearts and that Louise and I can be an encouragement to them and that we will speak the Truth even when it’s difficult.

IVORY COAST

ANA VAN BRAKEL

Ana gives thanks that she is settling in at the college and for the arrival of her baggage. She gives thanks too that the course she teaches is well received by the women. Pray that the Spirit will bless it in the lives of those who have listened

as well as those teaching. She was really encouraged that some of the women, though a little reluctantly, took up the challenge to write out one of the memory verses on the whiteboard - without a written example in front of them.

Ana asks for prayer that the Lord will continue to give strength as it’s comiing into the hot season in the Ivory Coast, as well as continued wisdom for the courses to be taught. She hopes to finish the course on the Pentateuch in 2 weeks time and has been asked to teach the whole of Revelation next.

Ana travels to Burkina Faso on 3rd March for 1 week. Pray for safety as she travels as well as being able to get her new bank account sorted.

SCOTLAND

ROBBIE TOOP

Pray for Robbie Toop as he recovers from an operation. He will be off work for a number of weeks. Pray for his recovery and for Margaret as she looks after him.

MISSION AFRICA NEWS

Continue to pray for Council as they seek God’s guidance for the future of the Mission. Pray also for our CEO, Paul as he continues settling into the role.

Give thanks that there will be over 40 people travelling to Kenya and Nigeria this summer on medical electives and summer teams. Pray for Catherine as prepares and presents material for our new short-term programme ‘Come See, Go Tell.’ The first night took place in Feb and the teams will meet monthly before travelling to Africa. Pray that God will be in the centre of all these plans and preparations and that He will be preparing the hearts of those travelling too.

Pray for the office staff as we plan and prepare for the events of the summer. Pray for wisdom as we think through ways of how we can engage new supporters with our event stands and publicity.

We want to wish all our supporters, friends, missionaries, partners and staff a very happy and blessed Easter. As we celebrate and remember the Risen Saviour this Easter, may we be reminded that true hope is not rooted in ourselves but that it comes from Christ and Christ alone. It is only through His death, ressurrection and Holy Spirit within us that we find true hope. ‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.’ 1 Peter 1:3
