APRIL 2024

MONTHLY PRAYER

‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ 1 Thes. 5:16-18

POINTS FOR PRAYER

NIGERIA

The Gaiya family are excited to be having a pastoral visit from Pamela’s sending denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. This is planned for 29 April – 8 May. Pamela’s minister, Rev Andrew Lucas (Omagh EPC) and Pamela’s middle brother, Rev Robert Johnston (Knock EPC) will be visiting. Pray for all the arrangements to be made and that this time of pastoral care will be greatly blessed of the Lord.

Pray too for important church meetings in Jos, scheduled for 16-19 April, in which Musa is involved. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance. Thank you for remembering Gracie in all her daily school assignments and activities.

As the students go on Easter break, pray along with Samantha and family as they use the time to rest but also seek God on how to move forward with

the work here in Enugu State.

Pray as the students return to school in mid April. Samantha is hopeful to be able to resume fellowship with them.

Pray for more open doors into churches so they can try to get more volunteers to come along side them in the work of FCS.

MARK NIXON

Join Mark in thanking God for:

• The appointment of a librarian and computer technician for the library.

• The ongoing evangelistic campaigns.

• The coming of the rain for the farmers.

• The repair work on the student hostels.

Join Mark in praying for:

•The students; that they would be able to pay fees and complete their courses satisfactorily in order to finish well this semester.

• The increasing costs of everything here.

• Safety as he travels.

• A pleasant time of fellowship with Pamela as we meet to discuss the work we are doing in Nigeria.

GODWIN, GAIL & ANGEL EKANEM

The Ekanems praise God for another successful outreach to Ikot Ekpang village during March. Pray that the people would not just be hearers of God’s word, but would put it into practice. Pray also that God would produce fruit from their efforts. The next one holds on 15th April.

Pray for refreshing for all of the family over the Easter break, that they would resume their work and studies later this month with renewed zeal. Pray for Godwin who will be preaching on Easter Sunday.

Pray for continued healing for Gail and for wisdom as she decides which chapters are to be dropped from her book on ‘Jesus and the Leaders,’ so that it can be published soon.

Praise God that Ekaette has successfully completed her training in midwifery.

NIGERIA HOME ASSIGNMENT

BRIAN WILSON

Brian Wilson thanks God for speaking engagements and opportunities to renew contacts during his time home. His health is generally good, but there have been episodes of intense pain in his right leg - and these are being investigated. Please pray about this.

He is thankful to God for the appointment of Hope to the PACT Library during his absence and thankful for the contact he has had with her. Pray for PACT - that it will be faithful in its task of preparing people to have no reason to be ashamed as to handle the Word of Truth and will know God’s help for its many challenges.

KATIE MORRISON

Pray for Katie as she continues to work in the Mission Africa office, assisting with financial matters. Pray also as she begins to think about and make plans for returning to Nigeria in the summer. Pray that her visa application process will go smoothly.

CHAD

DAVID, LUCY, SOPHIE & OLIVIA MORRISON

Pray for David as he leads a seminar in church on using the internet well - a huge upcoming issue in Chad that the church needs to address.

Pray for F. One of the Acacia graduates as she joins the Acacia team meetings and is trained her for increasing responsibility within the ministry.

Pray for Lisa as she has her final few months in Chad, that she would grasp every opportunity and finish well.

JEREMY & RACHEL NASH

Jeremy & Rachel have had a very busy few weeks with building projects, which they are generally pleased with, and also moving house. David and Lucy will move to their old house once it has been decorated.

Jeremy had some meetings to introduce the Love, Dating and Marriage course to youth leaders in N’Djamena. Please pray there would be fruit from these and groups wanting to study the courses.

Burkina Faso: pray for God’s provision that the award ceremonies can take place and the 24,000 (approx) children doing the courses would have their achievement celebrated. Pray

that those who have come to faith would be welcomed and integrated into their local church.

KENYA

KATHRYN LINDSAY

Pray for good quality time with family as Kathryn is currently at home in Northern Ireland and for journeying mercies as she travels back on the 4th April.

Pray for all the holiday Bible Clubs and youth events lined up in April during the school holidays as well as adequate rest in the midst of that busy season.

Remember Kathryn as she meets with Mission Africa’s partner organisations to arrange itineraries for the summer teams coming out in July & August.

Pray that Kathryn’s mentees (Thirime ladies) would show commitment and dedication.

Give thanks that Louise has decided to stay on a few extra months - pray that God would use her mightily and that he would continue to lead and guide her in all that He has for her in the future.

IVORY COAST

ANA VAN BRAKEL

Ana gives thanks for a successful trip to Legmoin in Burkina Faso; for safe keeping and being able to finish arranging her affairs. Ana asks prayer for the holiday period of Easter, the majority of the people will be away with family and she doesn’t know many people yet. Pray that it will be a profitable week catching up on outstanding jobs as well as working ahead for the next term.

SCOTLAND

ROBBIE TOOP

Thank you for your interest and prayers for Robbie following his surgery in February. He appreciates your support expressed in phone calls, messages and cards. He is looking forward to taking meetings this month as he returns to work.

MISSION AFRICA NEWS

Continue to pray for Council as they seek God’s guidance for the future of the Mission. Pray also for our CEO, Paul as he continues settling into the role.

Give thanks that there will be over 40 people travelling to Kenya and Nigeria this summer on medical electives and summer teams. Pray for Catherine as prepares and presents material for our new short-term programme ‘Come See, Go Tell.’ Two sessions have already taken place with the next one happening on 16th April. Pray that God will be in the centre of all these plans and preparations and that He will be preparing the hearts of those travelling too.

Pray for the office staff as we plan and prepare for the events of the summer. Pray for wisdom as we think through ways of how we can engage new supporters with our event stands and publicity.
