MONTHLY

POINTS FOR PRAYER

NIGERIA

The Gaiya family are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Revd Robert Johnston (Pamela’s brother) and Revd Andrew Lucas on a pastoral visit from Pamela’s sending denomination; the Evangelical Presbyterian Church on 30th April for 1 week. Pray that the trip will be a time of blessing and encouragement to all as this is such a timely visit.

The month of May continues to be a busy month with the new ECWA President being installed on Saturday 18th May. The ACTS Board meet on Monday 27th May, just before the Writers Workshop which is scheduled for 29th-31st May.

Pray for Gracie as she rounds up Middle School. Her exams start on 20th May. Preparation for home assignment are already being made, so pray for wisdom and guidance. Join the Gaiya family for the Mission Africa June Celebration on Saturday 8th June in Belfast. Continue to pray for good health and strength.

SAMANTHA, GODFREY, HEPHZIBAH & MELKI IBIA

Samantha asks you continue to pray for opportunities in churches to raise awareness about the work of FCS and to find volunteers to help visit schools. Pray for the churches that they are still waiting a response from.

Pray for the students who they are able to visit each week. Pray that what is being shared with them will make an impact in each of their lives.

MARK NIXON

Join Mark in thanking God for:

• The return of the Provost.

• The college outreach programme.

• The opportunities that he has to preach.

• The completion of another term

• A profitable visit to Jos at the end of last month.

Join Mark in praying for:

• An effective new summer school that will soon be starting.

• That students would finish this year well.

• Continued safety as Mark travels to various villages.

• That souls will be saved in the village outreaches over the next few weeks

and months.

GODWIN, GAIL & ANGEL EKANEM

The Ekanems praise God for the recent 2 year anniversary of the outreach to Ikot Ekpang Village (Godwin’s home village). Pray for the outpouring of Gods Spirit and for revival. The next outreach takes place on Thursday 16th May.

Praise God that Gail has been able to remove the brace from her wrist. Pray for relief from stiffness and pain. Pray as she completes her courses for this semester. Remember Gail as she writes 35 devotionals for Daily Delight 2025.

Pray for Godwin as he ministers God’s word in various locations, and for wisdom as he interacts with other church leaders. Pray for healing for his feet and hip.

Pray for Angel as she completes her final term of Grade 5. She has one more year in primary school. Also for Akaninyene who faces exams this month and Ekaette as she seeks for better employment. Aniedi and Esther are busy making plans for their wedding in June. Pray God’s blessing over them as they prepare to begin married life together.

Pray for the UEC as they seek to appoint 2 missionaries for church planting work in the Niger Republic.

NIGERIA HOME ASSIGNMENT

BRIAN WILSON

Brian Wilson thanks God for opportunities to speak about Mission Africa during his furlough.

After much seeking and praying, Brian

feels that his time in Nigeria has come to an end. He is thankful that a young Nigerian lady; Hope has been appointed as Librarian at PACT. Continue to pray for Brian as he now enters a new chapter in his life and that the Lord will continue to lead and guide him as to what is next.

Give thanks that the episodes of extreme pain in his leg have stopped. This seems to be the result of damage to his knee cap and to his back. Physio will be required, pray that he will be back to full strength again soon.

Brian also asks that you join him at Mission Africa’s June Celebration on 8th June as an opportunity to say farewell.

KATIE MORRISON

Katie asks you to continue to remember the children and youth within Ochadamu. It is encouraging to hear reports of the young people who are voluntarily holding children’s meetings in their area. Pray that they would continue to grow in understanding of the Gospel and have the passion to continue sharing the Good News.

Katie asks you to pray for the ongoing school ministry at Holley Memorial Nursery and Primary School. Pray that the Headmaster and teachers would be committed and realise their need of sharing Christ with children from various backgrounds.

CHAD

DAVID, LUCY, SOPHIE & OLIVIA MORRISON

Pray for David & Lucy as they make preparations the Business Course which will teach the women on how to manage a small business. It’s the second time running this course, so it’s still a work in progress.

Praise God for providing a fourth sewing machine and pray for the women as they learn to sew and make the products to be sold.

David is now learning the ropes at the TEAM station. He is thankful for this time of handover which gives an opportunity to adapt to new family rhythms as well as facilitating this role.

JEREMY & RACHEL NASH

Pray for Rachel as she trains David Morrison in how to run the office and guesthouse so that the transition will be smooth in July.

Jeremy had a 3rd training day for youth leaders on a relationships Bible study course. About 30 churches now have trained leaders along with some other churches hearing and requesting the course. Pray that further opportunities come to fruition. Some of these churches are 50 -100 miles outside N’Djamena. Pray also that Jeremy can do the same with the Union of Christian Youth. He was able to meet the General Secretary of the Evangelical Alliance. Pray that a training session might be organised to train leaders on using the Mailbox Club materials too.

Please pray for the ministry in Burkina Faso that there will be unity among the leaders and a positive servant attitude. Funds were sent last week but tough decisions will have to be made on what does and doesn’t get funding.

KENYA

KATHRYN LINDSAY

Give thanks to God for a fruitful time of leading VBS Programmes throughout the School holidays in April and being able to make more connections with many other PCEA churches for future children’s ministry.

Give thanks for Louise Boyd and the

4 months that she’s spent in Kenya. Pray for her as she adjusts to life back in Northern Ireland and also for the people who have been blessed by her teaching and presence here in Kenya.

Pray for Kathryn as she meets with all the partner organisations to organise itineraries for teams. Pray also for Joshua Wharry, a medical elective who arrived on 30th April, as he spends 7 weeks working in PCEA hospitals here. Pray that he will learn a much and be a blessing to all he meets.

IVORY COAST

Ana asks that you continue to pray for her settling into life in the Ivory Coast. Give thanks that her house is beginning to feel more like a home. Pray for wisdom as she begins to plan and think through what she will be teaching over the coming months.

SCOTLAND

ROBBIE TOOP

Thank God for the encouragements of meetings in April where a number of people were touched by the challenging needs and opportunities.

Pray for various preparations that Robbie will make for exhibiting over the summer. Pray for creativity and clarity in selecting appropriate resources for each exhibition.

Please pray for Robbie as he takes a service at Cleland Baptist Church on Sunday 5th May. Pray for ongoing contact with those in Scotland who continue to faithfully pray for the work of Mission Africa. Pray for ongoing contact with those going on summer teams and medical electives from Scotland.

MISSION AFRICA NEWS

Continue to pray for Council as they seek God’s guidance for the future of the Mission. Pray also for our CEO, Paul as he continues settling into the role.

Give thanks that there will be over 40 people travelling to Kenya and Nigeria this summer on medical electives and summer teams. Pray for Catherine as prepares and presents material for our new short-term programme ‘Come See, Go Tell.’ Three sessions have already taken place with the next one happening on 14th May. Pray that God will be in the centre of all these plans and preparations and that He will be preparing the hearts of those travelling too.

The office staff are starting to plan and prepare for our summer exhibitions. Pray for wisdom and creativity as we think through new ways of how we can engage people with our event stands and publicity material.

Ashleigh Kelly started as our Finance & Child Sponsorship Officer last month. Pray for her as she continues to settle in and learn both roles.

Mission Africa June CelebrationThis years June Celebration and Teams Commissioning will be held on 8th June at Newtownbreda Baptist Church. You would be most welcome to join us at 5:30pm for a meal together with the evening celebration starting at 7pm. An invite card is included with each prayer newsletter. Prayer Groups — If you would be interested in joining a smaller prayer group, please email us at news@missionafrica. org. uk. Some of these groups meet in person, others meet on zoom and are in addition to the Central Prayer Meeting. They will be supporter-led and are open to all support-ers.
