Message from the outgoing Miss Caribbean UK 2018 Queen

Tamera Farqhuarson-Ellis

MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT!!!.

M

y reign as the Miss Caribbean UK 2018 Queen has been a mixed-bag of emotions. I had no idea that my Mum had entered my application for the competition until I received a phone call from the Founder’s. I was shocked at first but decided to continue with the process. Never, in my wildest dreams did I think that I would come away with the crown.

find ourselves firmly focused on providing my Mum with the vital support and care that is needed.

My Mum has progressive Cancer and so her illness has taught me that life is to short and that I should make every day of my life count. Obviously, she was simply over-the-moon when it was announced that I was the winner and as a family, we looked forward to the opportunities that lay ahead.

I have also started my own beauty company called ‘Dolledup.mcr’ that is open for business 6 days a week. I’m loving everything about it and hope that I can achieve my long term goals of owning a chain of beauty parlours throughout the UK and become a beauty mogul worldwide.

I had a wonderful opportunity and was honoured to formally meet the High Commissioner for Saint Kitts and Nevis His Excellency Dr Kevin Monroe Isaac who was very charming and kept us laughing all the way through the meeting. As part of my “Winners” prize, my flights were sponsored by SN Travel and His Excellency liaised with the Tourism Authority who organised a packed itinerary which included a tour of both islands and included the Saint Kitts Music Festival. However, when we arrived back in the UK my Mum was rushed to hospital as it appeared that the tumour had damaged her spinal cord leaving her numb from the waist down and she is now unable 2 walk. Family is everything to me and we now

I would like to thank Clayton and Jacqui Brown, the Founders of Miss Caribbean UK, for all their hard work and support during my reign. Their constant encouragement to believing that anything is possible has opened doors that I could have never imagined.

I will make every day count. And as a young woman who is proud of her Caribbean heritage, I will use my strength and determination to make a change within today’s society, and to be a role model to all young women and girls.

It has been an honour and a blessing to be the Miss Caribbean UK queen and as I hand over my reign, I hope that I am able to inspire the next queen to find her greatness and MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT!!!.

Tamera
