Bolsa Atleta Athlete Grant Programme Como carro-chefe do apoio federal aos atletas individualmente, o Bolsa Atleta esteve presente de forma consistente na grande maioria das conquistas do país nos Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos Rio 2016. Dos 465 atletas convocados para os Jogos Olímpicos, 77% eram bolsistas. Das 19 medalhas conquistadas, 18 eram de atletas com o suporte federal. A exceção foi o futebol masculino. Nos Jogos Paralímpicos, 90,9% dos 286 atletas convocados eram patrocinados pelo programa. Todas as 72 medalhas paralímpicas foram conquistadas por bolsistas. O programa segue ativo após os Jogos. A mais alta categoria do programa, a Bolsa Pódio, destinada a atletas olímpicos e paralímpicos com chances de disputar medalhas, contemplava 299 atletas em fevereiro de 2018. Eles recebem repasses mensais entre R$ 5 mil e R$ 15 mil, num investimento mensal de R$ 3,2 milhões. Ao ano, são R$ 38,8 milhões.
As the flagship federal support programme for individual athletes, the Athlete Grant was consistently present in most of the country’s achievements at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Of the 465 athletes called up for the Olympic Games, 77% were Athlete Grant beneficiaries. Of the 19 medals won, 18 were from athletes with federal support. The exception was men’s football. At the Paralympics, 90.9% of the 286 athletes taking part were sponsored by the programme. All 72 Paralympic medals were won by Athlete Grant beneficiaries. The programme remains in force after the Games. The highest category of the programme, the Podium Grant, aimed at Olympic and Paralympic athletes with the chance of winning a medal, had 299 athletes on its beneficiary list in February 2018. They were paid monthly awards between R$ 5 and R$ 15 thousand, with a total monthly investment of R$ 3.2 million. The total investment a year stands at R$ 38.8 million.
