MALACANANG may be running out of time, but should there be reappointment of Bangsamoro Parliament members?
Deputy Speaker Omar Yasser Crisostomo Sema of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament said a point of contention among members and political observers is that the individual appointments of MPs were, in effect, stretched along with the passage of the new law collectively extending the current BTA term to three more years. Speaker Pangalian Balindong, a member of the 1971 Constitutional Convention, said put together, the initial tenure and the extended term of the BTA constitute the aggregate terms of the individual members’ appointments. The election ban on government appointments, including promotion to higher positions, designation and reassignment orders will be up by March 26, or 45 days before the start of the campaign period for local posts.
