Northwest Funeral Chapel hosts 2019 O'Bee's Toy House

On Sunday, December 15, 2019, Northwest Family Activity and Events Center, 4104 W. Good Hope Road, hosted its 5th Annual Mrs. O'Bee's Toy House. The event was open to children (2 - 10 years old) and their families. Children were able to pick out one free toy, take a photo with Santa, and enjoy special Christmas treats provided by friends of the late Mrs. Ernestine O'Bee, one of the founders of Northwest Funeral Chapel. All toys that were left over were donated to the Salvation Army, House of Peace, and the Daily Bread. The event center is open to the public to host special events. Milwaukee Urban League hosts 60th Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, The Milwaukee Urban League (MUL) hosted the 60th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon at the Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave. The Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon is a significant event, not only because it helps to reinforce the importance of diversity and equal opportunity, but it also generates funds which help support the League's work in education, employment, economic development and civic engagement. This year's event also helped the Milwaukee Urban League put a closing on their 100 year chapter and also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the MUL Young Professionals. As part of the event, MUL presented awards to individuals who have helped champion diversity here in the city. Voice of the Fatherless Child brings Christmas cheer to families in need

Sunday, December 15, 2019 marked the 12th annual "Voice of the Fatherless Child's Single Parent Christmas."One of the ten single parent Christmas packages was awarded to Destiny Foster (front row, left), the mother of two daughters who lost their lives to a hit and run driver on 22nd and Center Streets about two months ago. Voice of the Fatherless Child's Founder Monte Mabra (front row, center) along with Hupy and Abraham S.C. President Michael F. Hupy (back, left) and Home Depot Port Washington Ave. volunteer A.J. (back, right) helped deliver gifts and a tree with decorations to the Fosters' home. Since the incident this past fall, Destiny has been sharing her home with her son Laminate "Monte" Kazee, 3 (not pictured) and her 1 year-old niece Desire Brown (front row, right). Destiny said, "It's great to know that there are still people and programs like "Voice of the Fatherless Child." Monte said he wanted Destiny to know that she and her daughters are not forgotten.
