Give 2 Get Update
2 Associate Highlight: Jim McAllister
Mill Steel’s volunteer time off program, Give 2 Get (G2G), has been in place for roughly six months now. This program gives associates the opportunity to earn additional days off by giving back to the communities we operate in. It was welcomed with great excitement and lots of participation! Here’s a refresher on how the program works. Each associate can earn up to 18 points (3 days off) per year by participating in monthly volunteer opportunities planned by the Recoiler team or by volunteering two hours of service for any of the eligible organizations. If you opt to give back solo, you must document your service hours on a Mill Steel Community Outreach Time Sheet, with the accompanying signature and phone number of the organization’s supervisor or facilitator present at the time of service. These timesheets should be submitted to Amanda Allspach. All participation points are valid for one year from the date earned, and they are tracked in Mill Steel University. For detailed instructions on how to view your points you can visit: bit.ly/G2Gpoints

units, and were even able to meet some of the future tenants. It was a great way to see how the organization benefited families in need while bonding with co-workers. This was just one of the organizations we’ve volunteered for so far. Some other charities we’ve helped through the G2G program are Kids Food Basket, Kindred Hospice, Feeding America West Michigan, and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, to name a few. The full list of approved charities can be found on Millnet. If there is an organization or charity you would like added to the list, please submit it to Amanda Allspach for review. Please know we do a background check to make sure each charity is a tax registered non-profit organization and that it is utilizing the majority of its funding towards its mission.
Give 2 Get allows associates to give back while spending time with their fellow teammates and learn about wonderful charities in their communities. For example, on Saturday, January 6th, a group of Mill Steelers from the Grand Rapids office spent their day volunteering for Habitat for Humanity of Kent County to earn G2G points.
