It was certainly not a “business as usual” day at the office. Wednesday, September 12th, will forever be known as a very special day in Mill Steel Company history. Secret Service agents blanketed our property and a pristine production floor showcased our shiniest master coils for a special welcome. On that day, the 48th Vice President of the United States Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence, along with Governor Rick Snyder and Congressman Bill Huizenga, visited our corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids. From the heart of our operations, amongst our coils and associates, the Governor and Vice President delivered remarks on the resurgence of Midwest manufacturing and strength of the economy. In his speech, Vice President Pence called Mill Steel, “an American success story.” He commended our company for investing back into our associates and for all we have accomplished together. To be selected by our government to host such an event was an honor and privilege.
Anderson Accreditation Congratulations to the Anderson team for completing their third-party audit and becoming ISO 9001:2015 accredited last month! ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for Quality Management Systems. This includes things such as a metrics with goals, a calibration program, work instructions, risk assessments and awareness of the employees on how they impact product quality. This was the first time the Anderson team was audited by a third-party and they passed with no documented findings. This means the team met or exceeded the standard’s requirements in all areas. Kelly Steele and Troy Mossel from our Quality System Management Team worked closely with Martin Tobey to get Anderson prepared for this audit. Troy commented, “It’s been great working with Martin and his team to prepare. They all worked very hard and took the entire process very seriously. I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts!” Great job to everyone involved!
