The surgical demand, the interest of many foreign and national volunteer surgical groups and the lack of infrastructure in our hospital were a challenge that was solved with a large expansion project for the Surgical Unit of the Hospital, with nine operating rooms properly equipped and which can be used simultaneously.

It was necessary both adapting the construction in terms of architecture and functionality and adding restoration measures to preserve the monument built in the 17th Century and balance it with the modern characteristics required by 21st-Century medicine.

This project had an investment of over GTQ 2,000,000, which was possible because of the generosity of business owners, families and people that answered to our support requests through our fund-raising campaigns and the “El Hermano Pedro quiere un millón de amigos” Raffle.

VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro is committed to maintain the services of its Homes and of the Hospital up to the standards of Santo Hermano Pedro: Quality, warmth and kindness. However, it acknowledges that the need for health and other types of care of the country requires the commitment and dedication of people capable of contributing to improve the quality of life of Guatemalans. For this reason, trusting in the Divine Providence and in the generosity of its benefactors, Obras Sociales is committed to implement growth and development efforts in this humanitarian mission. For this reason, its vision for the future includes:

SUSTAINABILITY

THE CHALLENGE

The high demand of health services and care in our Homes makes sustainability a challenge of large proportions. Using our resources efficiently and effectively is the start of this sustainability that is consolidated with our benefactors’ donations both in Guatemala and abroad.

This is the most important annual fund-raising activity of Obras Sociales. This project is an example of the commitment and social sensitivity of the Guatemalan business sector and social communication organizations that make contributions including organization resources such as broadcasting, promotion and fund raising within their businesses and organizations through thousands of workers. More equipment, expansion and improvement of facilities and strengthening of the attention capacity for more poor, sick and abandoned people is the result of this solidarity manifestation from Guatemalans. We are very grateful for their generosity.
