Investment guide for Millennials

Editor's Note SEJAL AGGARWAL Hi, I am Sejal Aggarwal, The Visionary behind Millesimal Magazine, I have always had love for writing and creating content and my interest in Journalism intrigued me to build this Magazine. Millesimal, is a Digital Magazine that I designed to represent the “Millennial Mindset.” My content is positioned to reflect the core characteristics of how we define millennials: globally connected, entrepreneuriallyspirited, socially conscious, eco-friendly, and experiencedriven.

Start-up Story

Founder: FLavour spurr by nav bakery

What inspired you to start flavour spurr by Nav? I have been drawn to kitchen from my childhood days and would love to help my mom. While I was pursuing Chartered Accountancy course as well as doing the content writing job, I would take baking as a respite and would bake cakes and brownies for my colleagues whenever I got time. It was during the lockdown that I did more of it and realized this is my actual calling. Also I observed more and more people are shifting towards and looking for homemade and freshly baked products, which inspired me to start my own venture “Flavour Spurr by Nav.” The objective is to serve freshly baked products and make a world a happy place one bake at a time.

What was the greatest challenge you faced as a baker and how did you overcome it? The world of baking is nothing short of a “Wonderland,” and the more one goes deep in it, the more there is a realisation, how little one knows. Thus, one of the challenge was to learn on a continuous basis (for which I did a professional course), and practice it whether or not I would get orders or sort of other motivation. As a Home a baker, the yet another challenge is in the form of competition from the local bakeries that bake and serve at large scale. From the point of view of customers, while goods of these bakeries are cost effective, but from the point of view of quality; I know how much heart and soul we home bakers put in a product. Thus, often customers do not realise the worth of efforts, customisations and quality ingredients, which makes a product distinct and priced slightly higher; and this is surely a challenge. " The world of baking is nothing short of a “Wonderland,” and the more one goes deep in it, the more there is a realisation, how little one knows"

How do you hope to see your bakery grow within the next few years? Well I am working on my bakery business more and more each day whether it is in form of practicing the art, or researching about the science, or marketing and social media skills, or financial planning and others. Therefore my focus is to get better with each day and rest will be taken care of, by the destiny. What makes you stay motiovated at work/ how do you maintain work life balance? I have always, always been a strong believer of the fact that “your profession should be your passion and you would never feel like you are working.” So when it comes to baking I can do it on and on for the whole day as the whole process itself feels like a “distraction from the monotony and insanity of life of present times.” Therefore the realisation that I have been blessed with this art of cooking and baking, and I can anytime choose to distract myself from the usual life hustles; keeps me motivated each day. My art provides balance to my life as a whole.

PERF 5 Colognes a man UME should have

With endless options, choosing the right fragrance could be cause for concern. Is this too strong or not strong enough? Will I reek like a teenage boy who found his way into his dad’s medicine cabinet? And more importantly, how do I find a cologne that will match the man I am — or, at least, the man I want to be. Do you have these questions in mind while buying a perfume? If yes, we have a solution.

Here are five colognes that can never go wrong PAGE 8

1. Oud wood: Tom Ford

Oud wood is one of the most precious and expensive ingredients for any perfumer, and this cologne by Tom Ford nails the woody scent. Combined with cardamom, sandalwood, and vetiver— with hints of tonka bean and amber—a few spritzes of this signature scent is like warming up to a nice cozy fire.

PERF UME 2. Dior, Sauvage Inspired by nature and its raw materials, this scent from Dior perfumer François Demachy is earthy and woody. Warm notes of bergamot, pepper, and amberwood take cues from a desert landscape—but can still be worn in the dead of winter, thanks to its refined, non-overpowering finish.

3. Calvin Klein, Eternity for Men

Another enduring classic from 1988, Eternity is a romantic floral fragrance that was inspired by lasting love. Clearly, the love affair with this scent carries on too: It’s decidedly unisex, and works for both him and her. Notes of freesia, mandarin, sage, white lily, patchouli, and sandalwood make for a timeless blend.

PERF UME 4. Versace, Eros In a chic, Art Deco–style bottle, Versace’s Eros scent is both fresh and tropical. Notes of mint, orange, and woody vanilla are all refreshing—like taking a dip in the pool on a hot summer day. It obviously wears well in the summer, but is a pretty universal cologne overall. Make your own rules on when and how you wear it. PAGE 10

PERF UME 5. Paco Rabanne, 1 Million Lucky

Paco Rabanne’s earthy, woody 1 Million Lucky scent features a unique combination of hazelnut, green plum, grapefruit, and cedar—making it a woody, sensual fragrance with a touch of citrus. The futuristiclooking bottle is also the perfect thing to flex in your medicine cabinet.

The majority of millennials are unaware of the wealth-building investment tools available to them. Most people are aware that they should be saving money, but they have never been taught how to do so properly.

They urgently need a reliable guide to investing. Almost no one has thought about making a financial plan for their future. Investing for millennials is very different than for others.

Some people keep all of their money in a savings account because they are frightened of losing money in the stock market, while others invest in specific stocks they haven’t examined because a family friend recommended them.

However, the overall approach to money management and investing should be guided by a few everlasting principles. PAGE 12

Goals: Create clear, appropriate investment goals. An appropriate investment goal should be measurable and attainable. Success should not depend on outsized investment returns or impractical saving or spending targets.

Balance : Develop a suitable asset allocation using broadly diversified funds. A sound investment strategy starts with an asset allocation—a mix of assets with different characteristics, such as stocks, bonds, and cash equivalents— befitting the portfolio’s objective. The asset mix should reflect reasonable expectations for risk and returns and use diversified investments to avoid exposure to unnecessary risks. PAGE 13

Cost: Minimize cost. Markets are unpredictable. Costs are forever. The lower the costs of investing, the greater share of an investment’s return an investor can capture. And research suggests that lower-cost investments have tended to outperform higher-cost alternatives.

Discipline: Maintain perspective and long-term discipline. Investing can provoke strong emotions. In the face of market turmoil, some investors may find themselves making impulsive decisions or, conversely, becoming paralyzed, unable to implement an investment strategy or rebalance a portfolio as needed.
