How to style a larger room
PAGE 6 INTERIOR DESIGN A SIMPLE GUIDE
Furniture
If you’re decorating a larger space, you should arrange your furni ture to create different zones that work together as a whole. For instance, you might designate a space for talking or watching television, a reading area, and a playing area, but keep in mind that the furnishings in each of these areas should coordinate and flow with one another.
Another key element to consider when styling a large space is to avoid having every piece of furniture against the walls, in larger rooms this could feel and appear awkward. To make spaces feel cosy and inviting, keep the furniture around three feet apart, (de pending on the size of your room).
Décor
Just like we mentioned earlier when decorating, you want to cre ate distinct areas. To visually divide a room in a semi-permanent way, you can add ceiling beams, half walls, or pillars. Alterna tively, for flexibility, you can utilise area rugs, curtains, wallpaper, and furniture arrangement to help create visually cosy sections inside the larger room.
Keep in mind that because a room is big doesn’t mean you should fill it with ‘stuff’. Every component of a large area is signif icant and ought to improve your space. Go big with your design items to avoid clutter in a big space. Vases and potted plants are examples of products that can have a larger scale than artwork.
Tips
• Think about investing in architectural accents like col umns or mouldings. These items add warmth and charm to a large room more successfully than furniture can.
• Take into account the size of your room in relation to your furniture. Keep the furniture low if your room is big but the ceilings are low to provide the impression of height.
• When arranging a smaller collection of items in a vast space, think in groups of three. For example, group three vases or frames together. These pieces won’t get lost in your space because the eye will see them as a whole.

IS IT TIME TO Upsize?
Your Family Is Growing
As our families grow, so does our housing needs. A larger home allows for a much more comfortable lifestyle compared to a smaller ‘starter’ property, which can quickly become too cluttered as families grow.
You Need Some Private Space
If you find yourself yearning for some private space, are constantly sur rounded by clutter or people then it’s definitely time to upsize. Everyone needs a space that they can call their own, whether it’s a home office, a well-kept garden, or a separate living area to help you unwind and get away from the stresses of daily life.
You’re Working From Home More Often
It’s so important to have a place where you can close the door and con centrate on your work without interruptions, especially if you work from home. If you don’t already, you may require a dedicated home office. This is especially true if clients or customers are visiting your home.
Your Home Is Cluttered
It may be time to relocate to a larger space if you can’t keep your current space organised. It’s difficult to find things and maintain the space tidy if your home is cluttered, especially if you have young children.
You Host Family And Friends Often
It could be time for an upgrade if you’ve started to yearn for a house that you feel comfortable inviting people inside.
You may want to host dinner parties, game evenings, or other gather ings but simply don’t have the space for it. If so, you may need a bigger house. To prepare meals for large crowds, you’ll need a larger kitchen or a formal dining area with enough chairs for everyone. If your home is too small for entertaining, you must always go out, which is costly.
A bigger house also opens up new possibilities so, if the signs are there and you’re feeling ready to move on, upsizing is a decision you won’t likely come to regret.
PAGE 14 MOVING HOME
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE Property Market
Prospective home buyers needs and wants are constantly changing, as well as wanting the right property in the right location. They usually have a long checklist to satisfy before even viewing a property. If you’re selling, it’s useful to know what buyers are looking for so that you can get the marketing spot on.
The current financial situation has dominated the headlines this week, with stamp duty cuts and mortgage deals both at the centre of the discussion. But, rest assured as the housing market is simply just adjusting to these changes. In fact, buyer demand is still up 27% on 2019 & the amount of sales agreed are at the same level they were at this time in 2019.
Good news for sellers
The good news for sellers is that buyer demand is still up 27% on 2019, and in the last month alone, buyer demand was 20% higher than the pre-pan demic five-year average. The average asking price for a property is also up 8.35%.
In 2022, 31% of properties receive an offer in the first hour after viewings have taken place. In 2018, this figure stood at just 7%. Studies also show that after the first day of viewings, 48% of properties receive an offer, almost double the figure we saw in 2018 of 26%.
The property market is constantly moving, changing and adapting, but one thing is for certain... Buyers are still on the hunt for their next home. If you are thinking of selling, and are curious about what buyers are looking for in the North West, take a look below.

HOW TO DESIGN YOUR BEDROOM FOR A Better Sleep
Make sure your bedroom is your ultimate safe area if you want to get the most out of your sleep. Making a comfy, serene environment dedicated to sleep is essen tial to help you sleep better.
Bring in calming scents
Your ability to fall asleep may benefit from having the correct scents in your bedroom, did you know that the right scent can provide a tranquil atmosphere for restful sleep? According to studies, aromatherapy with essential oils like lavender can aid in relaxation and facilitate a restful night’s sleep.
Chamomile and cedar scents are also great to bring into the bedroom for their stress and anxiety-relieving properties.Invest in a quality mattress
When was the last time you replaced your mattress? A mattress should be replaced every seven to ten years, but it’s also crucial to pay atten tion to your body before that. Remember, a good mattress can improve your sleep and thus improve your health. Do your research and take your time looking for a mattress. Don’t forget, it’s something you spend every night on so consider factors such as size, sleeping style, and sup port level.
Pay attention to linens
The right bedding is essential for a restful sleep and room decor, but with so many options it can be difficult to choose. Instead, consider what would be most comfortable for your particular sleeping prefer ences.
According to the Better Sleep Council, a temperature of about 65 de grees is ideal for most people to fall asleep at. Try cooling sheets like percale or linen if you “run hot,”, and something warmer like flannel if you “run cold”.
Layer your lighting
Finding strategies to reduce unnecessary bedroom lighting at night will make it simpler to fall asleep. We would advise lightweight Roman shades or curtains in a gorgeous fabric with a blackout lining!
Consider layering your lighting among numerous light sources rather than opting for a single overhead light fixture that can overwhelm your bedroom. Use a variety of low wattage, warmer-bulb wall sconce’s, ceil ing lights, and table lamps to fill your bedroom with a warm, inviting glow that you can adjust to suit your requirements. To turn things down a notch, dimmers and smart lamps that react to voice or mobile app instructions are beneficial in the bedroom.

GET THE INSPIRED BY MRS HINCH Farmhouse Look
Sophie Hinchliffe, also known as Mrs. Hinch, has relocated from her crushed velvet residence into a five-bedroom farmhouse for £1.1 million.
Since announcing the relocation, Mrs. Hinch has kept her fans in the loop with the renovation process, documenting everything along the way, including her ideas for a new kitchen and exactly what materials, colours, etc, she planned to use to bring it all together.
For those that love keeping up with new trends, the good news is that her new look is entirely doable! It all comes down to mixing neutral tones and incorporating your own tone and person ality with the use of bold coloured accent pieces.
She seems to have gone for an entirely different approach in her new abode with an open-plan layout in the kitchen, along with a neutral colour scheme for the entire house. Focusing on the kitchen area specifically, she revealed a mock-up of her kitchen showing the colour scheme of off-grey and mushrooms for the graphic.
After reviewing the trends from the mood boards posted by Hinchcliffe, Lizzie Beesley, Head of Design at kitchen specialists Magnet commented:
“It’s clear that Mrs Hinch is a leader in trends. She’s captured the current move towards a warm, neutral palette. These comforting tones enrich any environment and provide the perfect canvas for stronger colours and patterns.
Her choice of matt stone, classic shaker cabinetry, washed timber and matt black handles all pull from classic Scandinavian styling. Perfect for a utility room, where you want to enhance the scent of freshly washed laundry with warmth and comfort.
Experts at creating cosiness in their homes, the Scandinavians understand the balance of room. Mrs Hinch has taken this design principle and beautifully balanced hidden storage and function with open display shelving and cabinets, finishing it off with the key feature of a utility, the Belfast sink.”
So how do you get the look? To create the style, we’ve compiled a short list of the materials, colours, and accessories used.
• Brick slips
• Black chandelier
• T&G griege mushroom coloured door fronts
• Off-grey stone flooring
• Kitchen island turned into a booth making it multi-functional
• Natural Hessian door fronts
• Black handles
