Ashley's current horse, Theseironsaresleepin, Stewie, is being shown in the hunter under saddle, equitation, and horsemanship. from Leeza

Owner & creator of fine horse show apparel. shley grew up on a crop farm in southern MN and her family has always been around horses Ashley started showing when she was around 6, in 4 H and at open shows. Starting on a Shetland pony named Missy, she then moved up to a POA pony which they called Maynard When Ashley outgrew him, she was able to move on to a quiet quarter horse named Bob, who started Ashley's all around career. Next came MT Cool Cash, or Ryder as he was known around the barn. He was her forever horse and brought her more success then she ever dreamed about at the time. Ashley retired Ryder in 2013 and laid him to rest in January of 2020. When she retired Ryder, she moved to a new project, a bay mare that she started showing consistently at the AQHA shows.

A

Signature Styles By Ashley Ashley Peterson

Ashley learned how to sew from her paternal grandmother, Leota. She still thinks of her when sitting down to sew. The driving factor of sewing show clothes came as a teenager Ashley wanted better show clothes than what they could afford, so she started sewing her own. She has always been interested in the glitz and glammor of show clothes, so Signature Styles was born when she started sewing for others. All the colors, matching hats with chaps and saddle pads, tying in personality..bringing it all together to show someone's signature style is what it is all about for Ashley.

The hardest part for Ashley in growing this business has been making a name for herself. The market is very competitive. New designers seem to pop up all the time, especially with the reach that social media offers Ashley is so appreciative of all her clients, many who have been repeat costumers and have referred others to her. Show pieces are an investment and she is so honored when people choose her to spend their hard earned money on to make their dream jacket or top.

When it comes to designing the custom pieces, the hardest part Ashley says is when working with a customer that really has no idea what they want. Her advice before contacting someone to make you a

custom piece would be to look at a lot of different tops and decide what you gravitate towards. It's just as important to know what you don't like as well as what you like Good communication is extremely important and the more time you take planning will make the designer's job more efficient when they start sketching. Another piece of advice Ashley has is to consider what you're asking for when deciding on a budget and whether you can afford to go custom. Custom anything (think even outside the horse world) usually isn't cheaper because you're paying for something to be made to your specifications. Ashley often gets requests for a $5000 jacket with a budget of $1000. She understands having a budget (who doesn't have one?!), but what people seem to don't realize is that on that $5000 jacket, there are at least $1000 just in stones and someone had to glue or stone each one by hand. It's important to have open communication about the financial aspect with your designer to keep your expectations reasonable. If you're unsure of what your budget should be, don't hesitate to ask the designer what they think would be a healthy budget for what you'd like to end up with Again,

good communication is paramount

The most rewarding part and the part Ashley enjoys the most is when it all comes together! For Ashley, it's so rewarding to be a part of making an outfit come together into a winning combination. She loves nothing more than seeing people get compliments on their outfits and the confidence that radiates from that. She loves the current, more simplistic look that is becoming even more popular. The current day shirt trend is classy for every rider They are also cooler for hot weather and can be dressed up with a vest or bolero for bigger shows or multiple classes. They are a solid investment and an economical choice Ashley also is loving the bold colors that are popular This is where a bright matching saddle pad can really make the outfit stellar.

Since her business has grown, she is able to have more pieces available at different consignment shops. You can find her consignment pieces at Closet Space Consignment and Boutique and with Kathy Williams Tails with the new owner, Kelly Mundrick. Life is quite busy with their son and daughter, so Ashley doesn't have much flexibility to meet deadlines for customs as she used to She also still works full time as a radiographer so she will be offering a limited number of bookings for customs She encourages people to reach out early if they're looking for a custom piece. Ashley knows she's speaking for all designers when she says booking early is imperative. follow here

For August we have a vintage horse head with a marble wine bottle stopper. It is made of glass and pewter A mare and foal are the focal point with the foal having crystals in it's mane which sets it off. A marble is enclosed at the one end of the grip and can roll freely. Glass stones are inserted in various places also. The vintage bottle stopper is considered mid century modern. It is pretty and heavy. 8" total, the stopper is 4" long, handle is 5" wide, and the top to stopper is 3" long Not sure about it's worth or who the makers were as there are no markings on it. Was purchased on an online auction for a reasonable amount. Makes a great conversation piece! flea markets, auctions, garage sales, etc. to find vintage
