CHAT六廠（六廠紡織文化藝術館）位於荃灣 南豐 紗廠，即 南豐 紡 織 昔日在 荃灣 的廠 房原 址。CHAT六廠所策展的多元化項目包括展覽與 共學計劃兩大類型。透過這些項目，我們希望為 大眾編織創意體驗。我們誠邀參觀者去感受香 港紡織業勇於創新的精神；並在紡織的領域裡， 於當代藝術、設計與歴史共冶一爐的氛圍下，展 開一段段啟發思考的旅程和交流。

CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) is an art centre located at The Mills, the former cotton-spinning mills of Nan Fung Textiles in Tsuen Wan. Through its multifaceted curated programmes, which include exhibitions and co-learning programmes, CHAT aims to be an art centre that weaves creative experiences for all. We invite our visitors to experience the spirit of the innovative legacy of Hong Kong's textile industry and engage in new dialogues and inspirational journeys that interweave contemporary art, design and heritage.

With the Sun, She Quells the Night – A Tribute to Rebecca Pan 潘迪華——一位香港跨領域的文化拓荒者，涉 足娛樂、音樂與藝術，並持續啟發年輕的創作 者們，「她能在黑夜，給我太陽 ——獻給潘迪 華」正是獻給這位舉足輕重的藝壇前輩。 CHAT六廠策展團隊與潘姐姐（潘迪華）緊密溝 通合作，展出極為珍貴的個人文獻與物品。從 亭亭玉立的少女到處變不驚的明星，由艷壓舞 台的表演者轉型為原創音樂劇的製作人，從為 人女兒到為人母親；展覽的每個段落都將訴說 潘姐姐多姿多采人生中的蛻變時刻。展覽中藝 術家鄭得恩、導演陳頌騏的藝術創作和當代藝 術的呈現，讓參觀者在歷史與現實中來回穿梭， 並展開與潘姐姐的親密對話。 本次展覽超越了個人回顧的意圖，從展覽本身 到公眾活動，均關注潘姐姐經歷過、並做出過 貢獻的娛樂行業和旅遊文化。潘姐姐的人生， 更見證了20世紀世界格局的巨變。我們也希望 藉由這個展覽，直面前景迷茫的當下。「她能 在黑夜，給我太陽——獻給潘迪華」讓我們向 潘姐姐尋求靈感和想像：我們要如何以那種靈 活、優雅、柔韌的姿態，駕馭現實的處境，自律 自愛，成為更好的自己? 王慰慰 李勺言 聯合策展人

With the Sun, She Quells the Night – A Tribute to Rebecca Pan is dedicated to the Hong Kong cultural pioneer whose career spans across entertainment, music and art, and who continues to inspire emerging talents today.

Conceived in close collaboration with the artist herself, the exhibition rejuvenates archival materials through a variety of display methods and combines the historical material with the contemporary art of today. From young girl to self-assured star, impressionable entertainer to original artist, daughter to mother – each turn of the exhibition presents a defining moment of transformation in Rebecca’s multidimensional life. The integrated exhibition experience brings together artist Enoch Cheng and filmmaker Chan Chung Ki, and places into dialogue the past and the present, Rebecca and us.

Beyond a retrospective, the exhibition display and event programming also depict wider entertainment and travel cultures that shaped and were negotiated by Rebecca.

As Rebecca’s career bore witness to the seismic shifts of the 20th century, so too are we presently confronted with the unfolding of disorientating times. With the Sun, She Quells the Night turns towards Rebecca for inspiration and imagination once again: How can we navigate our circumstances with similar dynamism, grace and tenacity to become the best version of ourselves?

About Rebecca Pan

潘 迪 華，原名潘 宛 卿，19 3 0 年 於上 海 出生， 1949年移居香港，是中國流行音樂樂壇的一位 傳奇人物及跨文化拓荒者。 2 7 歲 踏 入 歌 壇，2 9 歲 便 灌 錄 第 一 張 L P 唱 片。她 是 首 位 採 用「中 曲 西 詞」的 歌 手，出 版 了16 張 黑 膠 大 碟。19 6 4 年，潘 迪 華 與 倫 敦 E M I 唱 片公司 簽 約，成 為首位 簽 約 該 公司 的 香 港 歌 手。她 除 了 是 首 位 遠 赴 歐、美 及 中 東 地 區 表 演 的 華 人 歌 星 外，亦 多 次 應 邀 宣傳香 港。19 67年，無 綫 電 視《 歡 樂今 宵》 啟播，潘迪華更是當時的台柱之一。 1972年，潘迪華投資製作並主演了香港首部國 語音樂劇《白孃孃》，故事改編自中國家傳戶 曉的「白蛇傳」，此劇由盧景文執導，顧嘉煇作 曲及編曲，突破傳統戲曲形態，在當時極具前 衛實驗意義。 潘迪華晚年亦因在王家衛電影中客串演出而以 經典的上海女性形象為人熟悉。

Rebecca Pan was born in Shanghai in 1930 as Pan Wan Ching, relocated to Hong Kong in 1949 and has established herself as a cross-cultural pioneer of Chinese popular music.

Known to be the first singer combining Chinese tunes with Western lyrics, Pan began her professional singing career at the age of 27, recorded her first LP within two years and has released 16 records. In 1964, Pan became the first Hong Kong singer to sign with EMI London. As the first Chinese singer to perform in Europe, North America and the Middle East, Pan has promoted Hong Kong on numerous occasions. In 1967, Pan served as an inaugural host of the TVB programme Enjoy Yourself Tonight.

In 1972, Pan invested and performed in Pai Niang Niang, Hong Kong's first musical in the Chinese language adapted from the classic Chinese folklore 'The Legend of the White Snake'. Directed by Lo King Man and with music composed by Joseph Koo, the musical was a landmark performance that broke many traditions.

In recent years, Pan has been featured in the films of Wong Kar Wai, where she has assumed various roles exemplifying a woman hailing from Shanghai.

About Collaborators

鄭得恩 Enoch Cheng 藝 術家鄭得恩，獲倫敦大學金匠學院創意書 寫 碩 士。他 的 創 作 媒 介 包 括 影 像、裝 置、策 展、寫作、時裝、表演及教育。作品探討不同 領域及傳統的邊界和連結之處，關注的命題 包括歸宿、旅程、精神健康、記憶、離散等。近 年作品包括《將來留座》（2022年，香港大會 堂60周年誌慶節目）、《Handle with Care》 （2022年，紐約藝術設計博物館）。 Artist Enoch Cheng received his MA in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, London. His practice spans moving image, installation, curating, writing, fashion, performance and pedagogy. His works explore the boundaries and connections between various disciplines and traditions, with recurrent themes of belonging, travel, care, memory, migration, etc. His most recent works include TO ARRIVE (2022, Hong Kong City Hall 60th Anniversary Performance), Handle with Care (2022, Museum of Arts and Design, New York).

陳頌騏 Chan Chung Ki 陳頌騏是一位駐香港和倫敦的電影導演，畢 業於香港理工大學。他曾為香港電台、精萃工 作坊及衛星電視等製作特效和電視電影，亦為 A XN、鳳凰衛視及香港旅遊發展局等製作紀 錄片。2013年，LEXUS與溫斯坦影業挑選五 位創意導演拍攝一系列短片，陳頌騏從業內一 眾新晉創作人當中脫穎而出，作品《Pupil》在 2013年於康城影展首映。

A film director based in Hong Kong and London, Chan Chung Ki graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Chan has produced special effects and telefeatures for RTHK, Scorpio film, STAR TV, and also documentaries for AXN, Phoenix Chinese Channel and the Hong Kong Tourism Board. In 2013, chosen among the best emerging talents in the industry, Chan was honoured as one of five innovative directors to create a short film titled Pupil for Lexus and The Weinstein Company and which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.

南豐紗廠現時的建築曾是南豐紡織的棉紡廠房； 在陳廷驊基金會展廳內，髹上綠漆的牆和高窗是 本地紡織業輝煌歲月的痕跡。「紗廠絮語」將展示 香港紡織業簡要的起始和發展，輔以豐富照片、棉 紡舊物、文獻及藏品等。陳廷驊基金會展廳設有不 同部份，讓你親身操作舊式紡織工具，體驗棉紡過 程，甚至為你的棉紗成品設計標籤。

花樣百出：往來香港地緣之圖案 Patternways: Visualising Hong Kong in Transition 特別展示呈現 4 種對香港意義深遠的圖案，並聚 焦探討每款圖案的設計以及其曾流通的地區， 反映出香港這個城市多年來如何定義自身及把 握流變的地緣關係。

The special display presents 4 significant patterns of Hong Kong. Each pattern is examined as a designed product and the way it has circulated worldwide. By connecting us with other places, patterns reveal Hong Kong as a city constantly open to and defined by change.

The Mills building was formerly a cotton­ spinning factory owned by Nan Fung Textiles.

The green walls and high windows in The D. H. Chen Foundation Gallery are vestiges of the golden era of Hong Kong's textile industry. The exhibition Welcome to the Spinning Factory! will present a brief but intensive history of Hong Kong's textile industry, featuring rich imageries, vintage cotton products and archival documents and objects.

You are also invited to experience the manual cotton-spinning process using traditional spinning instruments, and design and create your own cotton label at the workshop stations in The D. H. Chen Foundation Gallery. 展覽空間設計:

What Hong Kong motifs do you spot on this wax print fabric? Egg waffle pans, mooncakes, or colourful fish from our Gold Fish markets?

Enjoy this cross-cultural furniture item that pays homage to Hong Kong’s textile industrial spirit in the form of wax print fabric, a textile produced and popularly worn across Africa and by the African diaspora.

Originally commissioned by CHAT for the special display ‘Patternways: Visualising Hong Kong in Transition’, this fabric titled Shared Routes was designed by Rachel Wood from the United Kingdom and printed by Akosombo Industrial Company Limited in Ghana. The wax printing process ensures that each yard of fabric is unique from the next.

Now, the fabric transforms into a portable multifunctional furniture piece, in collaboration with local design collective BOOKNITURE.

「櫻桃」併條機示範 CHERRY Draw Frame Demonstration 齊來見證香港最後一台運作中的併條機起動吧！ 每個月的一個星期六，機器操作員梁鳳儀將示範 機器，並邀請觀眾交流。

Come witness Hong Kong’s only operating drawing frame machine in action! On one Saturday each month, machine operator Auntie Yee (Leung Fung Yee) revives the machine and converses with audiences.

手工紡紗示範 Hand Spinning Demonstration 棉花是如何變成可穿、可用的紡織品？這個現場示 範可讓參觀者近距離觀察棉絮紡成紗線。活動期 間我們樂意與參加者傾談和討論。

How do you turn cotton into wearable, usable textiles? In this demonstration, visitors can observe how cotton fibre is spun into yarn.

The demonstration welcomes all for viewing and questions!
