NEWS BRIEFS Tax Advisers Needed

Auditions for the Fort Lee Holiday Safety Show will be held Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m., in building 3325 on 15th Street. Singers, dancers, actors and stage hands are needed. Auditions are open to service members, civilians, Family members and the community. The annual show is slated for Dec. 3-6 in the Post Theater. Performances will be at 6:30 and 8 p.m. each day with a 3 p.m. show added on Dec. 5. For details about auditioning, call (804) 734-1688.

‘Ballyhoo’ Opens

The Tony Award-winning comedy “The Last Night of Ballyhoo� opens Friday at the Lee Playhouse. Shows are set for Nov. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 4, 11 and 18 at 3 p.m. All performances are open to the general public. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for youth. Safety Show Auditions

The Fort Lee Tax Assistance Center is seeking volunteers to provide services to military members, retirees and their Families. A week of free training will be provided by the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate Dec. 3-7. Optional computer training also will be available. People interested in donating their time and talents to the Tax Assistance Center may call Sheran Walker at (804) 765-1505. Volunteer forms are available at the Legal Assistance Office, building 1108, 441 First St.

KAHC Holiday Hours

Kenner Army Health Clinic and Troop Medical Clinic I will be open Nov. 9, a training holiday, for patient care and closed on Nov. 12 in observance of Veterans Day. TMC II will be closed Nov. 9. Patients with medical emergencies should call 911 or report to the nearest hospital emergency room. For acute or urgent care needs on holidays and after hours, call the KAHC administrative officer of the day at (804) 734-9000 for referral authorization to visit an urgent care center.

Blood Drive

The Fort Lee Software Engineering Center is sponsoring a blood drive on Nov. 15, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Fire Station 2, B Avenue. All blood types are welcome. Types AB and O are most in demand. All donations will directly support deployed service members and other military treatment facilities within the Department of Defense. ASIST Training

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training will be held Dec. 11-12 at Liberty Chapel. The two-day workshop prepares caregivers of all backgrounds to provide suicide first-aid. An All Saints Day mass will be held Nov. 1 to commemorate the Catholic holy day of obligation. The 7 p.m. mass will be at Memorial Chapel at the corner of Sisisky Boulevard and Battle Drive. Hope Now Rescheduled

Hope Now has been postponed to Nov. 7 because of Hurricane Sandy. It will offer mortgage help to active duty military, guard and reserve, military retirees and Fort Lee civilian employees 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Post Field House at the corner of 16th Street and A Avenue. The free one-day event provides an opportunity for mortgage holders to meet face-to-face with their lenders. Open for discussion are short sales, interest reduction, various government programs, loan modifications, refinancing options and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act protections. Attendees should take their monthly mortgage statement, two most recent pay stubs, documentation on all income, and most recent bank statements and utility bills (showing name and address). Hunting Season

Hunting season at Fort Lee will continue through Jan. 31, 2013. All wooded and training areas are off limits without prior clearance from Range Control at (804) 765-2286 or Outdoor Recreation at 765-2212.

The Fort Lee Exchange has space available for vendors who are military Family members or retirees.
