Previously, we looked at the design of the Maingear EX – L 15’s body. It’s a chassis made by Clevo, a Taiwanese manufacturer that supplies laptops to other manufacturers around the world. Other brands like Origin also make use of Clevo for their laptop bodies. In the Maingear, you’ll find the logo on the back panel, and another one pasted on top of the speaker grille. It’s quite bulky for a 15 inch laptop, but that’s a given since this laptop fits into the desktop replacement category. It’s got powerful hardware which we’ll look into in a bit. Keyboard Typically, a 15 inch laptop doesn’t have a keypad. Only 17 and 18 inch laptops have that. With the EX – L 15 though, you have a fully keyboard with a number pad. To do this, the keyboard is slightly shifted to the left, and the surface of the keys is flat, in contrast to the inward concave usually seen today. As a standard for premium laptops, the EX – L 15 has a backlit keyboard. You’ll be able to enjoy your games and other applications late into the night without disturbing anyone.
Touchpad The touchpad is a little small, but is enough for all of your playing needs. Of course, a mouse should be the first thing to use, instead of a touchpad. Screen As already mentioned, the laptop has a 15 inch screen – 15.6 inches to be exact. It has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, or 1080p HD. It’s a standard for premium laptops, and it’s great to see it here. With this resolution, you’ll be able to enjoy your games in glorious HD. It’s also very clear thanks to its matte finish. For an additional 99 dollars, you can upgrade the screen to 95% NTSC color gamut option. This means that the screens display 95% of all the colors the screen is supposed to show. Lower – end laptops have a lower percentage, so we think that 99 bucks is worth it, especially if you’re a hardcore gamer. Sell your laptop for the amazing screen of this machine! Audio It’s a popular notion that laptops don’t have the best sounding audio ever. They always sound very thin and if you try playing heavy metal music, the speakers will easily break and you’re stuck with distorted music in a few months’ time. Thankfully, the Maingear has quality speakers installed. They’re made by Onkyo and include a subwoofer. Audio is louder and sounds fuller, and you’ll be able to enjoy your music and games better. Of course, if that’s not enough, the only option is to plug the laptop into an external speaker and enjoy being blown away by the amazing sound. Continuation
