mustang vs f-body shootout SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 17TH AT NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY ED YESSAIAN When you think of the general banter that comes with competition amongst friends at the drag strip, you can’t help but think about Steve Reis,

who was the King of busting people’s lug nuts at the track. Steve was a fun loving family man, who like all of us enjoyed burnouts, holeshots, and an occasional wager. With his untimely passing, there was no way his friends and family were going to let his spirit go too. And with that in mind the Steve Reis Memorial Mustang vs F-Body Shootout was born to not only honor Steve’s love for drag racing but to also bring together all those people that he left behind so that they could share their memories of him, while doing something that he loved.

started as just a few indexes and was for Mustangs, Camaros, and Firebirds only. Soon after that a bracket class was added, to allow non-Mustang and F-Body cars to participate. For the 2017 event, the classes remained the same, with the following indexes- 9.00, 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 13.00 with the indexes running Outlaw 10.50 rules on a .400 Pro tree (see NE Dragway racer’s handbook for complete rules and vehicle technical guidelines).

Cost to enter the racing portion of this event is the current New England Dragway Test Session fee, with no additional cost for the Steve Reis Shootout.

By ROB MAY MERCURY STRAY CATS CENTRAL CA CHAPTER DIRECTOR cougar_man@msn.com 50 years of the Mercury Cougar, Motor Trend’s 1967 Car of the Year, is something to celebrate indeed.

We should start one owner’s story at the beginning: Glowing highlights from the bodylines of a new ‘67 Cinnamon Frost painted Cougar caught the attention of Gary May in Colorado Springs CO. A year later in 1968, upon nearing graduation from the Air Force Academy, he would be ready to order his own new Mercury cat.

Copper turned to Gold when the Cinnamon Frost became a one year only

offered option. Gary ordered a 1968 Grecian Gold Cougar with black vinyl top and gold interior from Bob Foss Lincoln Mercury of Colorado Springs. This would be the first Mercury Cougar for the May family.

With the Air Force prompting multiple moves, this Cougar was sold in the mid 70’s before such a trek across the US. In the early ‘80s, a second 1968 Cougar was bought, and this car is still in Gary’s Colorado garage to this day. The current Gold Cougar differs with a 4V 302 versus the original cat’s 2V 302, and the interior is black. As a tribute to his first Cougar,

this Mercury was painted Grecian Gold in the late 90’s.

Gary’s son, Rob May, followed in similar fashion with a 1969 Cougar bought from the original owner by Gary in 1986 for Rob’s first car. Of note, is that the 1969 Cougar was initially sold on the Kumpf Lincoln Mercury lot. Restored by Hot Rod Alley Lompoc to factory correct specifications, the E color code Light Aqua Cougar also remains in the May Family garage in California along with a 1997 30th Anniversary edition Mercury Cougar.

Etch sits and watches in his rear view mirror as the caravan slowly drives towards his stopped GTO. The caravan pulls up behind the OUTLAW GTO and comes to an abrupt stop. The doors swing open and Etch exits his classic muscle car driver side and stands straight up to see how this plays out.

“What is your problem idiot? You have a death wish, or something?” asks, the teenaged caravan driver.

“Hey, he can’t run away guys. He has to do his walking with a cane.” Etch just stands next to his car and watches as the other teenagers start walking towards the back of his GTO. The caravan driver steps up face-to-face with Etch. He could smell the alcohol on his breath. Etch smiles, and with one swing of his right arm, he punches the teen square in the face with his right hand. The teenager hits the ground like a ton of bricks. He is out cold. The other teens run towards their fallen buddy and stare up at the six foot two and two hundred pound Etch. He hasn’t left his standing position next to the driver door. One of the other teens quickly stands up after checking on his knocked out friend and takes a swing at Etch. Etch ducks and comes up with an uppercut punch to the punk’s chin. His feet leave the ground and then his

body falls on top of his passed out buddy already laid out on the road. “Who’s next?” asks, Etch. Another teen lunges at Etch, but Etch reaches out with his left hand to the teens forehead and squarely drops a hard right to the punk’s face sending him back to the ground on top of his two knocked out friends.

The other two teens start to run away down the dark roadway tripping over themselves disappearing into the darkness. Etch looks down at the three teens out cold on the road and smirks. “I may not be able to walk very fast, or run, but I can still punch like a pile driver.”

Etch opens the driver door, tosses his cane in the back seat and sits down in the drivers seat. He sees flashing lights approaching from a distance behind his parked GTO. “Maybe those punks can buy me some time,” said, Etch. He turns the key and fires up the OUTLAW. The power plant GTO exits the area with screaming back tires and deafening dual exhaust system that can be heard over a mile away in the dead of night silence. Etch glances into his rear view mirror and sees the first approaching police vehicles stop in their tracks with their headlights aimed directly at the laid out teenagers in the middle of the road. He shuts off his vehicle lights and turns up one of his favorite Led

Zeppelin songs playing on the stereo system in his runaway GTO. A few miles down the road Etch decides to pull over at an all night diner and grab some coffee and breakfast. He slows OUTLAW down to a crawl and finds a pathway that leads him behind the diner and out of sight from any passing police cruisers and the eyes of a police officer that would obviously be looking for the wanted GTO muscle car and it’s driver.

Etch walks into the diner back door and stops dead in his tracks. He sees a couple police officers sitting and eating breakfast with their hot coffees in the front booth talking between themselves about him and his GTO. One of the police officers looks across the diner and makes eye contact with Etch.

He resumes drinking his coffee and then looks back at Etch standing at the diner back door. Etch doesn’t move a hair.

JIM WEICHERDING While I write this article I can look out my studio windows and see dark skies, see the non-stop rain falling, hear the clap of loud thunder and watch the lightning brighten the sky above me.

The problem is, I should be at a cruise night right now instead of sitting in my studio writing this article. This rainy season has put a damper on a lot of classic auto shows and cruise nights since early April when the area car show season begins. Not this year.

This year, it’s rain cancellation, after rain cancellation. Week after week, month after month, for four straight months.

It not only hurts the host site’s ability to generate a little more sales, but it hurts the pockets of the local DJ’s and it also hurts all of our charitable causes that benefit from all of these popular venues here in New England during the car show season. Everyone tells me that this is how it is in the state of Florida. If that’s the case, they can have Florida to themselves. How anyone can find any 20| Motorhead Magazine - August 2017

enjoyment from non-stop weather patterns that consistently cause our nightly cruises and weekend car shows to be cancelled, rescheduled and mostly not happen again until the following year amazes me.

There is nothing beneficial to any economy that has to deal with consistent rain storms and scattered showers every afternoon when it comes to being an automotive enthusiast in this region.

It directly impacts the economy in a negative way as well as taking away any automotive event that most of us enjoy every spring, summer and fall.

Drag racing, circle track racing, big car and truck shows, four-wheel drive events and more venues similar to these have been constantly cancelled, rescheduled for later dates or just won’t happen until next summertime weather season. I for one, do not like it at all. I’m sure that most of you reading this article feel exactly the same way right now. It’s August weather gods. Give us a break!

In Control: James Bray Takes The Wheel LAURYN “HOTWHEELS” VERNANCIO Going for a summer cruise seems like an everyday amenity for most, but there are a few who choose to think of getting behind the wheel as a privilege. Although it seemed like a distant dream, James Bray focused on battling what life had challenged him with, both mentally and physically, while defying all odds against him.

At the age of just eleven, James was diagnosed with Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome which caused multiple life threatening tumors throughout his body. During his adolescence, (he turns 21 this month) Mr. Bray has survived nine major neurosurgeries (seven brain and two along his spinal cord). In 2015, his second spinal cord surgery left him wheelchair bound.

While the light seemed dim upon the goal of getting back into walking and doing the activities he had once enjoyed, James decided to give another shot into proving that he wouldn’t let his physical disability stop him. With extensive therapy and pure willpower, J a m e s made it to the point where he could use a walker. He also enrolled himself into college courses where he currently holds a 3.5 GPA in general studies at CCRI and is hoping to pursue a career in neuropsychology by obtaining a Masters from SNHU. While these tasks seemed to take up most of his energy and time, James was still not close enough to where he felt 28| Motorhead Magazine - August 2017

he needed to be to reaching his goals. With the backing of his family and friend, Tyler Hittner, who also experiences challenges with mobility, he decided to make a New Year’s resolution, he was going to drive again!

He saved up what he could and purchased hand controls that would be installed into his truck, a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. His goal is to not only be able to cruise the roads this year, but to also educate others who might also share this rare genetic syndrome and perhaps show a ray of support that they can overcome these challenges too! He would like to make sure that people have the proper knowledge of the syndrome, and provide an outlet of support in the future for others that share in his struggles.

I’M A GPS SURVIVOR

By JIM WEICHERDING (I mean, somebody else) I’m a GPS Survivor is an absolute true story about a recent road trip I took from Rhode Island to Falls Church, Virginia, to Washington, DC., to Baltimore, Maryland on back-and-forth road trips that amounted to more than 1,000

laughing so hard I could barely drive. All of these drivers did what they were told and didn’t think for themselves at all. It’s like GPS shut off their brains and turned them into a flock of sheep. I refused to listen to GPS and my route was almost vehicle free from Delaware to Virginia and I arrived at my destination forty-five minutes earlier than GPS told me I would arrive when I

driving miles in the span of four days.

As I’m sure millions of travelers do every time they leave home and head onto the highway headed to destinations unknown, I put on the GPS in my rental vehicle. Fortunately, I’ve travelled most of this route on a few occasions in the past few years and was vaguely familiar with the road patterns I was about to drive onto.

Really? Do what GPS tells you to do and you arrive at your destination later, if at all?

I wish GPS had known the same thing.

The start of the long road trip was uneventful and I knew where I was going most of the way to Falls Church, Virginia and Washington, DC. areas. GPS chimed in and told me the obvious but that was about to change once I hit Delaware. There was a vehicle crash on my route about thirty miles up the highway so GPS told me to exit the highway and take an alternate route to avoid the traffic jam ahead of me.

I refused to listen to the GPS as I watched dozens of vehicles begin to exit the highway and become jammed up on those off ramps into who knows where they were going detours for miles down the highway. It was so funny to hear GPS tell me to exit the highway and take another route to avoid the impending traffic jam caused by a vehicle crash only to be told by GPS right after it told me to exit the highway that “You are still on the fastest route.”

No kidding!

Everyone else was listening to GPS and were exiting the highway causing more traffic jams on those off ramps and the highway ahead of me was clear of traffic. GPS had actually cleared the highway for me because these drivers did exactly what GPS told them to do. They drove off the highway. I was 32| Motorhead Magazine - August 2017

For an example: The person I went to points unknown with exited the passenger side of our rented SUV and we unloaded the showcase materials I was exhibiting at the conference event and she entered the drivers side deciding she would park the rental vehicle directly next door to the event I was attending for four days in a parking garage. When we left the conference she told me to wait outside of the hotel with my showcase materials and displays while she went to get the rental vehicle parked in the parking garage right next door to the hotel.

Ten minutes later she walks past me telling me the vehicle is parked on the fifth floor and it’s easier to get there through the hotel access walkway upstairs using the inside elevator. Ten minutes goes by. The hotel employees ask if I need any assistance. I tell them no. My ride is just next door and will be there in a minute. Ten more minutes goes by. Another ten minutes goes by. Still no ride. Everyone kept asking me where my ride was because I was standing in the heat and humidity for more than a half hour. I could see the parking garage. It was thirty feet from the hotel valet parking entrance. Ten minutes later I see the rental SUV pull into the entrance area. She exits the vehicle and immediately says, “You are driving!!!” She helps put the items back into the SUV and tells me a nightmare story about why it took forty minutes to drive to a building directly next door to the parking garage. It is in the center of Baltimore, Maryland.

She used GPS. That’s another story in itself. Lol!

To help stay safe on the road this summer, know your numbers and follow these easy T.I.R.E. tips: tread depth, inflation pressure, rotation, education.

1. Donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t forget to check your tireâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s tread before hitting the road. Tread depth refers to the amount of tread on a tire, which can impact handling, traction and stopping distance, especially on wet roads. Most new car tires start with 11/32 inches of tread. If your tires donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have at least 2/32 inches, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time to replace them. Use the â&#x20AC;&#x153;penny testâ&#x20AC;? by sticking a penny upside-down in a tread groove.

If Lincolnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s entire head is visible, your tread is worn beyond the legal minimum requirement and itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time to replace your tires.

2. Check your tire inflation pressure at least once a month to make sure they are at the appropriate inflation pressure. Low tire pressure leads to decreased steering and braking control, poor gas mileage, excessive tire wear and the possibility of tire failure. Temperature changes aďŹ&#x20AC;ect tire pressure. For every 10 degrees of temperature change, tire air pressure changes 1 PSI (pound per square inch).

3. To increase tread life and smooth out your ride, rotate your tires every 6,000 miles or earlier if irregular or uneven wear develops.

4. Stay educated on your tires and what you need to do to keep them safe. Inspect your spare and consider a roadside assistance plan. Some cars come with run-flat tires, which enable continued driving with no air pressure for up to 60 miles at speeds up to 55 mph, but most vehicles are equipped with either a space-saver spare or tire repair kit. Check your trunk to see what your vehicle contains. Drivers unsure of the condition of their tires should consult an expert, and visiting a Discount Tire location for a free safety inspection is a good place to start.

By KAYLA CONTI Bob Rossi purchased his first ‘64 Chevelle back in 1964, brand new off the lot. Then he bought a second ‘64 for his wife, Carol, in 1970. He’s always had a love for the first year model Chevelles.

The Chevelle pictured here was spo�ed with a “for sale” sign in the window by Bob’s grandson as they were returning home from a day spent at Stafford Springs Swap Meet in Connec�cut.

Although the vehicle was in decent shape at the �me of purchase, Bob wanted to make a few adjustments.

The previous owner had recently installed new upholstery and a brand new conver�ble top.

Bob took it upon himself to detail the engine compartment. He went for the original look, keeping everything stock.

Originally designed as a show car for the 1953 Motorama display at the New York Auto Show, it generated enough interest to induce GM to make a production version to sell to the public. First production was on June 30, 1953.

This generation was often referred to as the “solid-axle” models (the independent rear suspension was not introduced until the second generation). Three hundred handbuilt polo white Corvette convertibles were produced for the 1953 model year.

The 1954 model year vehicles could be ordered in Pennant Blue, Sportsman Red, Black, or Polo White. 3,640 were built, and sold slowly.

The 1955 model offered a 265 cu in (4.34 L) V8 engine as an option. With a large inventory of unsold 1954 models, GM limited 42| Motorhead Magazine - August 2017

production to 700 for 1955. With the new V8, the 0-60 mph time improved by 1.5 seconds.

A new body was introduced for the 1956 model featuring a new “face” and side coves; the taillamp fins were also gone.[10] An optional fuel injection system was made available in the middle of the 1957 model year. The 1958 Corvette received a body and interior freshening which included a longer front end with quad headlamps, bumper exiting exhaust tips, a new steering wheel, and a dashboard with all gauges mounted directly in front of the driver. Exclusive to the 1958 model were hood louvers and twin trunk spears. The 1959–60 model years had few changes except a decreased amount of body chrome and more powerful engine offerings.

In 1961, the rear of the car was completely redesigned with the addition of a “duck tail” with four round lights. The light treatment would continue for all following model year Corvettes until 2014.

In 1962, the Chevrolet 283 cu in (4.64 L) Small-Block was enlarged to 327 cu in (5.36 L). In standard form it produced 250 bhp (190

sponsored a car known as the “Mitchell Sting Ray” in 1959 because Chevrolet no longer participated in factory racing.

This vehicle had the largest impact on the styling of this generation, although it had no top and did not give away what the final version of the C2 would look like. The third inspiration was a Mako Shark Mitchell had caught while deep-sea fishing.

Production started for the 1963 model year and ended in 1967.

Introducing a new name, “Sting Ray”, the 1963 model was the

first year for a Corvette coupé and it featured a distinctive tapering rear deck (a feature that later reappeared on the 1971 “Boattail” Buick Riviera) with, for 1963 only, a split rear window. The Sting Ray featured hidden headlamps, nonfunctional hood vents, and an independent rear suspension.

Corvette chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov never liked the split rear window because it blocked rear vision, but Mitchell thought it to be a key part of

the entire design. Maximum power for 1963 was 360 bhp (270 kW) and was raised to 375 bhp (280 kW) in 1964. Options included electronic ignition, the breakerless magnetic pulsetriggered Delcotronic first offered on some 1963 Pontiac models. On 1964 models the decorative hood vents were eliminated and Duntov, the Corvette’s chief engineer, got his way with the split rear window changed to a full width window.

From sideshowworld.com: The “Bonnie and Clyde Death Car” was a 1934 Ford Model 730 Deluxe Sedan (Fordor) which belonged to Ruth and Jesse Warren. They had recently purchased the car and it had been sitting in their driveway. Ruth, who had been doing dishes looked out of the window and noticed that the car was missing. Ruth thought that her husband had driven it to the house of a neighbor, she called him and he said that he hadn’t taken the car. The car was stolen on April 29, 1934.

On May 23, 1934 the posse had been waiting for approximately seven hours when at about 9:10 a.m. they heard a machine approaching at a high rate of speed. It is not clear whether the officers stepped into the road to challenge them.

But when the car stopped they were told to give up. They reached for their guns but never had a chance to use them.

The posse opened fire, the car leaped ahead and came to a stop in a ditch beside the road. The firing continued after the car came to a stop.

The officers had pump 167 rounds into the car, approaching it with care. They found Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow dead.

through Bonnie and out the passenger door. The fingers on Bonnie’s right hand had been shot off. Her left hand was clutching a bloody pack of cigarettes. She died with her head slumped between her legs, with a gun across her lap. Bonnie was 23 years old, Clyde 24. It looked as if Bonnie had just gotten her hair permanent waved.

Inside the 1934 Ford, Hamer found the following items, 1 saxophone, 3 Browning automatic rifles, 1 10 gauge Winchester lever action, 1 sawed-off shotgun, 1 20 gauge sawed-off shotgun, 1 Colt 32 caliber automatic, 1 Colt 45 caliber revolver, 7 Colt automatic pistols, and approximately 3,000 rounds of ammunition. They found license plates from Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Texas, Indiana, Kansas, Ohio and Louisiana After the ambush Mrs. Ruth Warren arrived in Bienville Parish to claim her car. Sheriff Henderson Jordan refused to release the car to her, claiming that she would have to pay $15,000 to get it back. Hiring attorney W.D.Goff from Arcadia to represent her.

Goff claimed that by Jordan setting the value of the car over $3,000, the case would surely wind up in Federal Court. Because of Sheriff Jordan’s refusal to comply, Federal Judge

She finally get her car back, and drove it to Shreveport, Louisiana. From there the car was taken by truck, back to Topeka, Kansas, where it sat in her driveway for several days.

Ruth leased the car to John Castle of “United Shows” and when the contract went into default, she had the car repossessed and rented it to carnival operator Charles Stanley. He exhibited it on the Hennies Brothers Midways in his 1939 crime show. Stanley used the car on his outside bally and showed the film of the actual ambush on the inside. After Ruth divorced her husband Jesse, she kept the title to the car and sold it to Stanley for $3,500. It had been said that Charles was the original owner of the Death Car. During the 1948 season the car was exhibited at Coney Island amuse-

nent display at the Primm Hotel and Casino at Primm Nevada just of Interstate 15 on the Nevada and California state line.

Even after all these years the legend still holds a strange fascination.

THE GREEN ROB MULLETT’S 70

By XANDER ANTHONY Greetings Motorheads, it’s your little pal Xander Anthony here, back after a brief break in the action but always keeping my eyes peeled for something cool within the Mopar realm.

In the past I’ve focused Xander Anthony Yessaian on the newer cars, such as the Hellcat and the Demon and I got a few emails asking if I have any interest in the older stuff, to which I replied ABSOLUTELY!!! So I set out to find some fine examples of the earlier generations but stayed true to my preference of street driven cars versus those that are kept in a bubble and never driven or appreciated.

They say true love appears when you least expect it and of all places to find a truly immaculate example of one of my favorites, the 1970 Dodge Challenger, I found Robert Mullett’s meticulous example at a MUSTANG show at the Anheuser Busch plant in Merrimac, NH. Robert’s Challenger caught my eye from clear across the show field of nearly 500 cars. It’s brilliant “high impact” hue drew me in and as I spoke to Robert about the car, I realized that this was truly a labor of love. The Challenger went through an intense nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. Not one single item was left untouched and the final result is quite simply a masterpiece. Most people would keep such a work of art locked away from everyday life but not Robert, who says he drives the car as often as he can and that it is a blast.

According to Robert, the original 440ci power plant was completely refreshed as was the manual transmission. The factory suspension was the next thing on his to-do list and a full P.S.T. kit insured that all of the suspension and steering 54| Motorhead Magazine - August 2017

components were tight and ready to help him carve the corners confidently. Behind the gorgeous Magnum 500 wheels hide four wheel disk brakes, to bring things to a screeching halt, when needed, but for the most part, this car is usually running full speed ahead. Obviously I can only imagine how dominant this car must have been back in 1970, but if I have my way, the 1970 Challenger will be the father-son project that my People always say, that being the son of Motorhead’s Mustang man Ed Yessaian I am destined to end up in a Mustang but you never know, if I have my way I could very well end up in something sweet like this 1970 Challenger, which would be a street and strip killer! Billy has customized it into a boat, it has inboard props on it, an anchor, a compass, boat lights, a Bimini top by BC Marine Canvas and tie downs with lines so he can tie it to the dock when he arrives to his boat.

Billy says it’s just a lot of fun to customize things and enjoy them.

Stay tuned... his next project will be an amphibious golf cart and the third golf cart will be something even more unique.

GARY DEJULIO’S 03 ANNIVERSARY COBRA

By ED YESSAIAN Over the years I’ve probably seen thousands of the infinitely popular 2003-04 SVT COBRA’s roaming the streets and strips of the New England area. And let’s face it; for the most part if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all, with the occasional exception of a truly outstanding car. That’s where Gary Dejulio steps in; possessing one of the most immaculate 2003 Anniversary COBRA’s in the area.

Further impressive is the fact that he actually drives it, constantly, and it still remains clean enough to eat off. But Gary’s car isn’t just a pretty face; it’s packed with some serious hardware as well, making it more than capable of walking the walk (or walking away from pretty much anything out there).

pumps. This setup was good for 684rwhp when we visited our friends at Performance Dyno in Loudon, NH and cranked out 611 ft/lbs of

ATE CONTROL neck snapping torque, which is easily transferred to the pavement through a Tremec T56 Magnum transmission and McLeod RXT Magnum XL clutch.

With a power level of this degree, Gary needed to make sure the car would stay firmly planted which required suspension upgrades that included Bilstein dampers, H&R race springs, caster/camber plates, and welded subframe connectors to eliminate the chassis flex. All four corners wear CCW Classic wheels with Nitto rubber in the front and massive Toyo 335/30/18’s in the rear. Whether he’s on the street or on the strip Gary takes no prisoners, but of course that wasn’t the original purpose for building the car. According to Gary, “I wanted to build something that would get me to my service calls quicker than any other Climate Control vendor out there”. Judging by the final results we’ve seen, we’re pretty sure that COBRA CLIMATE CONTROL is definitely the first one on the scene!

A common hydroscopic fluid that would cause quite a conundrum is brake fluid.

When brake fluid absorbs moisture, the boiling point of the fluid becomes lower and will cause the fluid to compress less. Moisture within your braking system will give the fluid the ability to limit your braking power, and in turn rust out your brake lines and all necessary hardware and components. There is nothing quite as enjoying as cranking up the tunes on your marine stereo system while out cruising on your boat. But the higher quality the sound is the better you will enjoy it. Here are some great tips for shopping for marine waterproof speakers. Marine stereos allow you to enjoy your music regardless of the conditions. However, a marine stereo system will not be complete if there are no waterproof speakers. The marine speakers work to deliver the sound waves clearly and distinctly from the surrounding roars of sea waves, currents, and wind gusts. The enjoyment of listening to music on the water is made possible and enhanced by the quality of the speakers.

Without them, all you can hear are blurry murmurs and vague voices. The point is, what’s the worth of spending money on a costly marine stereo when you do not pair it with an efficient speaker, right?

The biggest problem with choosing Speakers for your boat is the environment. Salt, moisture, waves can quickly take its tole on a regular car stereo. In fact, with such a choice you would be wasting your money. You need marine electron-

ics for such a touch job. Marine Speakers are easy to soot because they are rated as such. Once you have purchased the right equipment you will need to make sure it is properly installed to ensure you get the best sound possible. I have installed plenty of Marine Stereos and Speakers in my career as an installer of such equipment. Waterproof auto speakers have paper cones, steel grilles and wires that are exposed making it a poor choice for the water.

That is why you need to buy waterproof equipment specifically for marine, because you will want plasticote on the circuits so that they are protected from the moisture and will not corrode. You will want waterproof covers that seal, so that water cannot get in. They should be secure enough that you could hose them down and it would not damage them.

There are several models of waterproof speakers from that are worth checking out. When choosing a pair of Marine Speakers, several factors to consider are their designs and the models for flush mounting and also those that are in box forms.

Both of them are skillfully designed not only to

please the ear but also to be captivating to the eye. Thus, you can expect them to add additional character on your deck or cockpit. The colors are also elegant to look at and suitable for any outdoor environment. Also, they posses superb ability to resist rust and corrosion because they are made of high-quality weather resistant materials.

Remember, choose your location for installation wisely. Although they are labeled “waterproof” you cannot expect them to survive being completely submerged under water or having huge splashes soak them.

Place them in somewhat protected location and arrange them in a direction that is directed toward your ears.
