Summerfest is FREE family fun

Moffitt Dental Center under new ownership, and soon, a new location by Kim demory egeagle@goldfieldaccess.net Dr. Mike Moffitt, a 1963 Eagle Grove High School graduate, moved back to Eagle Grove in 1976 to open his own dental office. He is proud to announce that his son, Jordan, a 1999 graduate of EGHS, has not only taken over the family business as of mid-April, but he will also be expanding to a new location. He is currently in the process of remodeling a former church building along South Commercial/Highway 17. “You see a lot more of that these days. People, and professionals, are moving back to Eagle Grove...it’s a great place to be from, to raise kids,” Mike said. “Nicole (Jordan’s wife) and I are both Eagle Grove natives. We just felt like we wanted to live in Eagle Grove and raise our family here. I saw an opportunity to work with my dad, and buy the business, so I did. Eagle Grove is home to us,” Jordan said excited about what the future holds for him and his family. Jordan admitted that he was a little nervous about going back to school for four more years as an adult to be a dentist, but he is glad he did. “It was worth it,” Jordan said. Mike added that he is excited as well that his son is not only a dentist, but chose to be on his
own (another son, Zach is also a dentist in Oklahoma), without any persuading, and then decided to return home to practice. “He’s my son and he’s been around and knows how the business runs; and his values are similar,” Mike said. “The patients love him...he’s doing a fantastic job.” Jordan is looking forward to being able to offer his patients the latest in dental care technology when he opens the new facility, along with more room. “With two dentists (in the old location), there just wasn’t enough room. Moving will allow us to not only have a place for new, updated equipment, but more patient rooms,” said Jordan. They will start with six in use, and two more ready for use. “We’ve allowed room to grow,” Jordan said. That means additional staff, and hopefully in the not-so-distant future, another dentist. “We will be doubling in size,” added Mike, who will still be seeing patients Monday through Thursday mornings. “The sterilization room will be tremendous.” It’s because of this sterilization room, and the fact that they do inhouse dental-related surgery, that it is going to take a little longer to get the new office up and running.
They are anxious, but they know in the long run their patience will pay off for the betterment of their clients. “Our office has been known for decades for cosmetic dentistry,” said Mike. “It’s more fun to make somebody’s smile look better than it is to pull a rotten tooth,” Jordan added. In addition to basic dental work like fillings and root canals, they also do Clear Correct (“invisible” braces) which is an American-based company as well as a newer generation of teeth bleaching which is faster, cheaper, and doesn’t leave teeth feeling sensitive, and so much more. “Making people look better and feel better...that’s fun,” said Jordan. He is looking forward to the big move, continuing to offer outstanding service to their customers of Eagle Grove, surrounding communities, and North Central Iowa. “We’re very hopeful the community will support our expansion,” said Jordan. “I’ve invested in the community and made a commitment to Eagle Grove.” Jordan received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Creighton University School of Dentistry.
