Newsbriefs Pine Lake Wildlife Club Fish Fry April 22

The Pine Lake Wildlife Club Fish Fry will be held on Friday, April 22, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wildlife Clubhouse north of Upper Pine Lake, 32740 210th St., Eldora. Take out boxes available. Cost is $10 for adults and take out boxes, and $6 for children 12 and under (dine-in only). Last fish fry of the season

Hardin County Historical Society Brunch April 24

The Hardin County Historical Society will be holding an Omelet and Pancake Brunch on Sunday, April 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dorothy’s Senior Center, Eldora. The Eldora Kiwanis Club will be serving. Free will donation. Bring your friends and family and help support the Historical Society. Proceeds will go to offset the cost of Washington Street Road Construction.

Fun Horse Show May 1

The Fun Horse Show will be held Sunday, May 1 at the Hardin County Fairgrounds Arena in Eldora. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Show starts at 2 p.m. No halter classes. Come and watch for free, or participate (participation fee). Sponsored by the Pine Lake Saddle Club.

By Rick Patrie News Editor HARDIN COUNTY – Greenbelt Home Care’s departing director Terry Terrones says that the organization is fortunate to have a career-health professional ready to step in on an interim basis to help the agency navigate her transition. Terrones is leaving Greenbelt to take a senior post with a southern Iowa hospice organization. And Marilee Lawler, who was long

It wrote the following: “Barrel racing is a timed horse race in which the cowgirl rides her horse in a pattern around three barrels. The goal is to avoid knocking a barrel over while completing as quickly as possible. The clock starts as the rider enters the arena and crosses the starting line. Riders are not penalized for tipping a barrel as long as the barrel remains standing upright. Eldora woman caps a stellar season By Rick Patrie News Editor ELDORA – Three barrels, and a stopwatch, deceptively simple sounding, according to one writer for the rodeo media. But barrel racing is all the rage in the women’s sport. And the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association website was testimony to that recently, clogged with results from last fall, as riders from around the country went first to their respective regional championships, and the best then qualified for the Super Bowl of the sport, the RAM Nationals in Florida. Eldora’s Natalie Foutch pretty much ace’d the first test, taking one of two spots representing the northern Great Lakes Region, making her one of just a couple dozen riders from across the nation bound for Florida. She won that great Lakes circuit year-end championship, while the other circuit scorer took a year-end average top spot. So it was another season, and Foutch continues to ride with world

Performance Series Steinway artist comes Saturday at 7 p.m.

by Rick Patrie News Editor SOUTH HARDIN – If you haven’t had the pleasure yet, this weekend is a great chance to see and hear the difference that’s been made in the South Hardin High School auditorium. The Hardin County Performance Series is bringing international Steinway artist Jim McDonough to Eldora this Saturday evening, and master that he is on the keyboard, they promise his sound will be even more striking when the recent additions to the school’s audio equipment are engaged. McDonough brings his art to the new state of the art sound system in the South Hardin High School Auditorium, all performed on a Steinway grand piano brought in for this performance. He will also be joined on stage by his professional 14-piece orchestra. This exciting show features spectacular arrangements of songs from the silver screen and Broadway, as well as favorite big band, patriotic, Rat Pack, inspirational, country and classical music. “We are so excited to have Jim McDonough and orchestra come to Hardin County” says Christie Pence co-chair of HCPS. “This is our premier and final event for the 2015/16 season and will be an outstanding

Spring cleanup ELDORA – Residents are invited to take the opportunity to cleanup and dispose of some otherwise notso-easy-to-dispose-of items. The city has set Saturday, April 30 as its annual cleanup day, with pickups times between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Items for pickup have to be out at the curbside ahead of time, however, so they should be placed the prior evening of Friday, April 29 to be sure. Cecilians “Greatest Hits”

ELDORA – Come out and listen and help make a contribution to some fortunate scholarship recipient who each year goes off to school with help from the Cecilians. The long standing choral group from Eldora has its annual benefit concert Monday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Eldora. The theme of the concert this year is “The Cecilians Greatest Hits”...a collection of favorites from past concerts. Everyone is welcome.
