Survivor Day Brings Awareness To Suicide Prevention

By Stephanie Faughnan BARNEGAT - Deputy Mayor Albert “Al” Bille’s last official meeting as a member of the Barnegat Township Committee included several recognitions marking the conclusion of his fifteen years of service. Most of the December’s approximately twenty-minute meeting focused on presenting Bille with a ceremonial key to the township and offering remarks on his tenure. For many residents, Bille became a familiar presence at community events, often wearing one of his recognizable black caps that alternated between “Barnegat” and “Mayor.” His public service included two terms as mayor, multiple (Farewell - See Page 7)
Lacey’s Popular Pooch Gilbert Helps Showcase Unique Event
By Bob Vosseller LACEY – The township’s most notable pooch, Gilbert, came out to a special bewitching event recently to spread some cheer and meet up with residents in the Whiting section of Manchester Township. The 4-year-old dog has quite a social media following. His owner, Shannon Dixon described him as 63% Chihuahua. “He is a very
special guy. Very chill. There is just something about him.” The lovable pooch posed for photos wearing his autumn overalls assisted by family members. Gilbert was present with other members of his family including Jason Dixon, 23, who was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in April. Shannon Dixon explained, (Gilbert - See Page 18)
