CCDA Back to School Fair

Roberta Tyus-Pugh Services for Roberta Tyus-Pugh were held on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Gary A. Tyus officiating. Mrs. Tyus-Pugh passed away on Aug. 1, 2017.

Principal Angela Moore and the Commonwealth Community Development Academy School, a K-8 elementary school chartered by Eastern Michigan University, gave back to the community by having their annual Back to School Fair this week on the school grounds. The fair included games, rides, lunch and raffles of pre-packed school backpacks for the kids whose ticket numbers were called throughout the fair.

Roberta Tyus-Pugh was born on May 30, 1960 in Detroit to Mccarrol Tyus and Clara Lee McDonald. She attended Osborn High School and found employment as a physical therapist at Maybury Clinic after graduating. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies at Oakland County Community College. She also graduated from Virginia College School of Cosmetology in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Back to School Fair was designed for parents to acquire additional information pertaining to CCDA curriculum, Everyday Mathematics, Success for All Reading, Step Up to Writing, English, science, social studies, special education, physical education and health. She and Alonzo Pugh were married in 1991 and blessed with several children. She enjoyed shopping and dressing with style and flair. Cherishing the memory of Roberta Tyus-Pugh are her husband, Alonzo Pugh; daughters, Stephanie Tyus, Treasure Pugh, Jewel Pugh, Ariana Pugh and Azeni Tyus-Pugh; brothers Gary Tyus and Robert Tyus (her twin); and many other relatives and friends. DR. J. LOUIS FELTON, a devoted Servant Leader, who has served over half a century teaching and preaching the Word of God, is the gospel messenger.

On Saturday, Aug. 5, services for Dana Gabrielle Woodley were held at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Charles C. Adams as presiding pastor. Ms. Woodley passed away on July 25, 2017.

From 1991 until 2010, Dr. Felton served as Senior Pastor of The Galilee Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where a new facility valued at over $5,000,000, was successfully constructed and completed in December, 2004,

Dana Gabrielle Woodley was born to Shirlyne and Donald Woodley on Jan. 15, 1971 in Detroit. She attended Grosse Pointe Academy from preschool through eighth grade and graduated from Mercy High School in Farmington Hills. Following high school, she attended Purdue University, graduating with honors.

In 2010 Dr. Felton accepted the Servant Leadership of Mount Airy Church of God in Christ, from the founder, Bishop Ernest C. Morris, Sr., Jurisdictional Prelate of Pennsylvania Koinonia Jurisdiction. Under the Servant Leadership of Dr. Felton, over 2,000 souls have been received in the Kingdom. Dr. Felton has led the congregation to invest over $1,000,000 in capital improvements and ministry development.

William Spencer Radden Services for William Spencer Radden were held on Aug. 12 at Grace Bible Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Hampton officiating. Mr. Radden passed away on Aug 2.

William Spencer Radden was born on Sept. 25, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama to Maude and Homer Garfield Radden.

After graduation from Parker High School, he served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Detroit in the early 1950s and married Grace Butts in 1968. For over 40 years, he worked at the Mack & Sheridan Meat Market. He worked until he was 83 years old. He was a church-going, Christian man who believed in helping others. Cherishing the memory of William Spencer Radden are his wife, Grace Radden; son, Homer; daughters, Marlene, Lydia, Christie, Sophia, Renita, April and Melandi; sister, Frances Allen; and many other relatives and friends.
