Guiding Principles

Our Mission BARC’s mission is to build a stronger community by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities achieve individual goals for a better life.

In an effort to stay true to our mission, we’ve developed seven philosophies that we call our Guiding Principles. Our principles serve as a daily reminder that our core values will remain intact regardless of our triumphs, trials, change or growth and allow us to continue working toward the same goals.

Our Guiding Principles keep us on track, focused and fulfilled so that we’re able to continue our work in creating an organization where everyone - our Clients, Staff, Customers, Vendors, Volunteers and our Community can succeed. We hope you will see the results of this each time you participate in a BARC event, visit our campus or donate to our programs.

Safety: the Heartbeat of Our Organization.

SAFETY is at the forefront of everything we do at BARC. We create a SAFE working environment where team members are trained to identify and address potential hazards. We come to work rested, ready to concentrate on SAFELY performing each task. We are actively involved in each other’s SAFETY so we can go home healthy each night to our families. BARC is committed to protecting our greatest assets--Clients, Staff and all who visit BARC!

Hiring Great People--Developing Great Leaders

As a team, we collectively participate with our Clients and their Circle of Support to enhance their personcentered goals and develop an outcome-based program plan that strives to meet the Client’s expectations. We continually pursue new opportunities to enhance the Client’s personal growth and help them achieve a higher quality of living. Constructive communication and interaction is encouraged to help each individual become an active participant in their emotional, financial, professional and social lives. We believe by supporting each Client’s individual goals and providing them with the tools to make informed choices, they will gain independence and become an active member in the betterment of our community.

All applicants undergo a strict screening process that allows us to carefully search for talented and compassionate individuals who are dedicated to our cause and possess a positive work ethic. New Team Members are trained to assess and meet the needs of our Clients and are educated on our unique culture and legacy. We acknowledge potential, develop leaders and promote from within when applicable.

We appreciate and recognize performance, value team work, embrace diversity and treat all people with respect.

Customers are our Best Sales People

We believe a well-TRAINED person is equipped with the knowledge to confidently make informed decisions. By focusing on formal, deliberate and ongoing TRAINING, we achieve the highest quality standards. TRAINING is documented to maintain continuous compliance. Each individual is properly TRAINED to excel at their job. TRAINING lays the foundation to provide excellent customer service to our internal and external customers.

We focus on each CUSTOMER and provide them with friendly and professional service. Our campus is welcoming, CUSTOMER-friendly and easily navigated.

Our employees are given the tools to anticipate our CUSTOMERS’ needs and exceed their expectations-creating repeat CUSTOMERS who enthusiastically recommend us to future CUSTOMERS.

Our mission of improving the quality of life for our Clients will only occur with community understanding and participation. Our volunteers are excited, informed, trained, and appreciated.
